I'm 2-3mins in to the video and while I'm very interested, this is just too fiddley. Needing to obtain old discs, require some sort of legit account, patching and stopping at a certain update. If it was all downloads and could be installed/played offline, I'd write the documentation for you.

Its great that you are doing this. I first started FFXIV when Heavensward came out on PS3. I'll have to see if I can get an old FFXIV used PC copy. I have the original FFXIV 1.0 PC box set I bought for my Square-Enix games collection, but that won't work for this build. Thanks again for your support and contribution to the FFXIV community.

As long as it's patched to what the server demands you should be able to make it work if you are already on the right patches. Heavensward isn't required to play but the server expects ARR to be patched. I made a short cryptic video after this video with a Heavensward thumbnail. Everything you need is there.
I was browsing their Discord, and from what I could find, it seems like it's been done before but would require a really old version of their server and mentioned it was a pain to do. I get the impression they don't have the server setup to support PS3 anymore, but on their website, it shows PS4 support. Honestly, I really don't know, though. Here is their site. It'll be here today sometime. That said, I do have a question.... Are 8 man instances available and working yet? Even 4 man??
I don't work on the server and haven't messed around with it long enough to know much, really but I doubt any instances work but it's also possible that some do, I just haven't tried. I don't think enemy combat works properly yet, though. If you go watch my recent video after this one with a weird title and can crack the title, everything you need is there.

It's been awhile since I messed with the server (I'm just a fan) but off the top of my head I'd say to check and make sure all 3 servers are up and running and in the launcher set expansion to ARR or Heavensward or it may not login and something else to check might be where your character last logged out or where the game crashed if it did. If you warp to an area past Heavensward, the game may crash, and the server may remember that as your login position and keep timing out when you try to log back in. To fix that, you would probably need to head to your database Heidisql and go find the table showing your character position and manually change it there. If you still can't figure it out, let me know again, and I'll try to help. Or you can visit the wiki homepage, and they should have a discord link somewhere at the top or scroll down on the welcome page and there should be a link. sapphire.xiv.dev/

If you can't log back in try "git revert 364c304d4a789dc3ab115078487d789aeeb670a8" in the Sapphire directory by opening a cmd prompt or PowerShell window. I remember them mentioning there was a login error once upon a time and that may fix it. You may need to rebuild the server afterwards but honestly I can't remember but run that git revert command and then close and reopen servers and try to login again.
I'm unfamiliar with the project and retail, so I don't really know much about it. Someone asked me about Anamnesis and Ktisis once (never heard of either apps), so I tried Anamnesis, and it seemed to crash because it was looking for an updated ffxiv client and Ktisis seemed to use the XIVLauncher which would have to be adjusted to point to the private server instead of retail servers and I wouldn't know how to do that either. The folks @ Sapphire server emulator have a discord, though. They would know much more than me. I barely know how to setup the server, lol.
But whats the point of loading the MMO in a private server where you are all alone and cannot do any content? I can at least understand FFXIV 1.0 servers cause that game does not exist but you can sitll access all of the game from ARR up with current client
I imagine the devs are just doing it for fun/research and the server is definitely inferior to the free trial but I'd imagine its possible to take this server and host it publicly and allow people to join and play on it with you.
@@penultimania4295 it's different with vast improvements, implemented much needed features, and class balances. You can play with players already with the normal clientele. All you have to do is simply just find them. Unless you want your very own RP server (to which that can be a bit understandable), I find this a bit pointless. I don't know....*shrugs*
@@COEFFXIV People like different versions of the game more than the other, that's the whole reason World of Warcraft have a big private server scene and why Blizzard released the game again with the Classic servers to begin with (even tho they didn't believe people wanted it at first).

Is it possible to use the gpose tools/mods on this server for people who like to create lore content for their OC?

you can play with other people....its a server. And the game is completely different nowadays. I miss Heavensward
