You were a very handsome artistic man.
And he was a troubled man and tormented soul.
I have some white Sebring hair salon matchbooks when I went to the salon back in the late 70s. Obviously, these matches are produced after Jay's death since it was his partner who later opened up a store in New Mexico. Cool to see blue ones, thanks.
Jay was so handsome, it's just terrible what went down that night.Jay was so brave, he probably thought it was a robbery and never for a minute thought they were going to die.

Aw man, there's still a Sebring shop in existence, that's amazing! I worked with a California Concept franchise here in Mississippi back in the 90s, and the Sebring method of cutting was still being taught. He's always been a hair hero of mine along with Vidal Sassoon. I didn't know until recently that he actually was a hero. That just makes me love him more. If I was the Doctor's Companion I'd get the Doctor to fly the Tardis straight to LA! To learn from a master stylist, a revolutionary in hair, that would be a dream. I'd also love to tell Sharon that Roman is a shady pervert and to stay with Jay. Hey, we all can dream, can't we?

I've lived in Albuquerque 30 years and drove by this location 100 of times and never even noticed or realized what I was seeing. I'll be stopping for a better look now

Awesome Scott i'm so happy for you. You got an old book because the striker is on the front. In 1973 federal regulation mandated that the strikers be moved from the front of the matchbook to the back. They were originally inside, other wise the basic form has not changed in a century. This all had something to do with safety. Thank you for sharing.
My husband had his hair cut as teenager at a Sebring location that opened up in Rio Rancho NM.... a suburb of Albuquerque. The original Albuquerque location opened in 1970....so I am assuming it was the mid to late 70's when my husband had his haircut. That location has since closed but yes, the Albuquerque location still remains. I see they do women's hair too. Just might book an appt soon.

Very, very cool purchase!!! For people who are into the lives of Sharon, Jay, etc. this is a super exciting purchase. Those are some very old matches! I'd love to personally own anything of Dean Martin's. I think he was genius. My Dad loved Frank Sinatra, but for me as a very little girl, it was Dean Martin, lol! Of coarse I always told my Dad when I grew up I was going to marry Tom Brokaw! Lol, that didn't happen, but still admire him very much!

OMG, I started doing hair in 1977 and had women blowing smoke in my face daily. You didn’t dare ask them not to smoke. I did insist they didn’t smoke when I gave them a UniPerm, I told them it was b/c we using chemicals.

I used to live in Albuquerque. I think they cut both men's and women's hair at that salon. I had no idea it was that Sebring. Wish I had gone in.
