A moment at 10050 Cielo Drive.

  • In the early 1990’s James stayed at 10050 Cielo Drive in Benedict Canyon. He was the keyboard player in Nine Inch Nails and they were writing and recording their album, the Downward Spiral inside the home.
    James stayed in the maid’s quarters, which had a possible paranormal quirk. Every night, at 3:33 am, the closet door in the small bedroom would pop open. He put his suitcase and furniture in front of the door to prevent it from opening, but no matter what he did, at 3:33 am, the door opened. I didn’t really believe him until I experienced the phenomenon for myself.
    I will try to upload a few more videos of the house for historical reference.

      Hello .. I was a weekend guest in this home on a number of occasions in 1987/88 when I was about 33 yo .. Rudi would leave the front door wide open all night so King could go in and out at will .. I did not feel comfortable with his doing that but it was not my place to say .. I mean I wouldn’t leave my own front door open .. I don’t know why he sold the place as he loved it so much but maybe it was for financial reasons .. I drove up Canon drive and looked up at the home as I always did and it wasn’t there .. I couldn’t believe someone would tear that lovely home down .. My mother didn’t like my staying there at all .. I HAVE lived in a haunted house in Long Beach which I had to have “cleansed” but this home always felt peaceful and serene to me .. and so did the cantilevered Millman house next door where I was also a guest .. at that time there were only 2 other homes at the far end of the drive ..

I got the call from Jim McNeil with United Concerts saying they needed extra help for the NIN show @DeltaCenter. Beefed up all employees 10x fold because of MM Jim Rose and NIN. The band made a statement ripping up the Book of Mormon on stage. BW was paid by United Concerts "not to play" Trent called MM on stage and the rest is history. He loves me ...he loves me not. Warner continued to scream as he tore pages out of the BOM. It was deep! After party was crazy too. The house was good enough for Gloria Swanson to rent while filming "Sunset Boulevard," in 1949. And was bought by billionairess Doris Duke in 1953, it is where she died.i think her butler, Bernard Lafferty who inherited a large part of her estate, and the house??? also passed-away there. I read that the house was a rental and that Terry Melcher (Doris Day's son) previously lived in that house. Was he the owner?

    • @FrankiesFancy
      @FrankiesFancy ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The house was owned by a few different people, starting with French actress Michelle Morgan, who commissioned the house to be built in the early 1940s. Rudy Altobelli, an openly gay talent agent, bought the house in the early 1960s and rented it out to celebrities such as Cary Grant and Dianne Cannon before renting to Melcher and his girlfriend Candice Bergen and Mark Lyndsay of the 60s music group Paul Revere and his Raiders. Mark Lyndsay swore up and down that the house was haunted, even going so far as to sleep with a loaded gun close to his bedside. Roman and Sharon were living with actress Patty Duke when they found the house on Cielo. They were house hunting because Sharon was pregnant and wanted their own home to start their family. Rudy Altobelli was a horrid man who actually sued Sharon's family for "the mess" left behind from the murders and for loss of rent because he couldn't rent it out for awhile. Utterly disgusting. Especially since it was Sharon's father who had to clean up his daughters blood. Altobelli was simply a wretched man who tried renting it out for awhile before moving into it and lived there for twenty years. He could make no more money on it so he sold it. Such a lovely home but...should never had been constructed in Benedict Canyon. Those hills are sour with evil.

      @@FrankiesFancy Thank you for this very informative history.
      It was a beautiful house with a grand view. Terrible that it had such a tragic, violent and sad Ending history.

      @@LesterMoore I forgot to mention that there was a story about a dark haired female ghost who was extremely jealous of the male residents and would torment the female guests/residents that even Rudy Altobelli believed in. Supposedly haunted the house until it's demise. I often wonder if she's haunting the new structure or if she is far too appalled to be seen on that site anymore...?

    This poor house. It didn't deserve the fate it had gotten. I dont know why but usually houses where people have been murdered always freaked me out. (Like the Chris Watts house) Except this one. You can just feel the sadness coming from this house. Getting ready to house a new baby only to have a horror to happen instead. And of course, like everything in LA, is tworn down and in its place is an ugly eyesore of a building/home.

    I understand people are freaked out by what happened in this place, however if people really knew what happened in so so many places everywhere that we all live in. You know you think about some of the states where some of these serious wars happened such as even the Civil War, excetra excetra you think about all the deaths that occurred half the grounds we live on. And then all the murders and suicides that have happened in so many houses over the years. Yes this one is considerably worse than many, but the real issue is how famous this story is. I think this had a lot to do with why it was torn down. Similar to why the town burned down Ed Gein's house, because it was going to turn into a tourist attraction. I get people having a curiosity, I would definitely want to go there myself just out of curiosity since I've heard about the story for so many years. I'm also a New Yorker so I've never even seen the West Coast let alone California. But I think it's the freaks that make things into so much more that are the problem. Like I mean there are some serious mental case losers out there that want to glorify things and just they have no personal life so they feel cool by thinking they're badass is whatever they think. But yes that new house is just absolutely ridiculous. There is no taste in that house

    RIP Sharon, Abigale, Voytec, Jay, and baby Paul Roman. Beautiful property. It was torn down and the address was also changed. I can see why. Sad how Sharon's dream house because her biggest nightmare. An innocent flower child. And her friends were good people too. Abigal was the Folger airess but she donated her time to help inner city kids. Voytec had escaped the nazis as a child in WW2. So had Sharon's husband Roman. Although Roman will never be able to come back to the US, I always felt he kinda should have been given a break because nazis and racists murdered his whole family and that took up most of his life. I don't think he was a normal adult because he had not had the chance to have a family until much later in life. All the brainwashed kids who commited the crime must have been off to do what they did. Brainwashing still happens today. The building in place of this house is just horrendous. It looks way too big to fit the property.

    • @Angelenowithacamera
      @Angelenowithacamera ปีที่แล้ว

      It was heartbreaking but I have an old vintage "Life" magazine that blames the poor victims for thier own murders! Horrible. It took months for the true story of what happened to be put together. Vincent Bugliosi thankfully wrote a great book about it. The kids who did the killing were not hippies they were racist nazis! They might have looked like hippies but they were not at all about free love. More like free hate! This mentality of hate and the phenomenon of the racist cult mentality is still alive and very well. God bless.
