I did alot of work to it since I was restoring it. I owned the same truck twice and then traded it for a 1965 Willy's Jeep cj6. If you take the pulley system from a 6.5 you can have one belt. You will need to change the water pump and the power steering pump and bracket with it. I put a 6.5 from a 1998 Sierra in my 81 Chevy. I even found an AC unit from a 91 suburban and hooked up the AC using the compressor that was already on the engine. In the winter, I unbolt the compressor and strap it to the wheel well and I put the hydraulic pump for the plow gear where the AC goes.

    • @rangerismine
      @rangerismine  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@arthurgay5746 That’s an awesome idea. Lack of a/c is the only downside to it. I have looked at the vintage a/c kit, but would rather run the compressor off a serpentine belt.

    • @arthurgay5746
      @arthurgay5746 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@rangerismine everything from a 6.5 will fit on a 6.2. all of the 6.5s have a serpentine belt. They also all have a spot for a vacuum pump on the alternator bracket. The alternator from a 98 6.5 only has one wire to the small plug. You just need to snip the plug off the old alternator and join it to the new one. You can use an idler in place of the AC if needed

      @rangerismine I have a spin on filter that I changed last year the old one didn't look bad at all though. I use the 60G upgraded glow plugs, and I put them on a push button. It’s the only way I have found to get 100% reliable activation of the glowplugs, and get an easy start. The factory timer setup gave my problems on both 6.2 trucks I had.
