Your video series on Everest is EPIC 😁 Ian, if I took a shot every time you said “epic”, I would pass out before the end 😂 but I loved it and all the other helpful info! You two are so cute, happy travels! I’ll be at EBC in 2025!
4 pairs of hiking pants?! That's nuts. I was only going to bring 1 pair. I think I might get a second pair, just in case. But 6 pairs of socks is totally OK. I'm only going to be bringing 5 pairs - 3 medium and 2 heavy pairs, plus a couple of liner socks, so technically 7. And I'm only bringing 4 pairs of briefs. All merino so should be fine.
Thanks for the great series on EBC - leaving to do the same in 3 weeks! Two questions about your packing confessions: 1- why were 6 pairs of socks not enough? 2- what was the capacity for your power bank? Looking forward to experience what you guys did (only in a warmer setting). :)
Great questions! Being that the trail is so sandy and dusty it kind of get trapped in your socks and when you add that in for sweaty feet it can create a good amount of foot irritation. Once your socks get dust in them it is really hard to get out and use again. So that is why in our experience it would have been nice to have a few more pair! Also I believe my power bank was 20W, but i got about 5 full phone charges out of it. Hope this information helps! you are going to have a great experience and better weather haha
I like your videos. Very informative. I've got a question about something that you didn't mention in your videos. How heavy were your bags you were carrying and how much weight did you give to your porter to carry for you?
Out personal bags we carried I would say were about 10 to 15lbs. Really in that bag all we had was my camera gear, water, snacks, and some extra layers. Our porter carried all the heavy stuff ❤️❤️
Awesome Video! from full documentary to packing guide! planning on going EBC trek soon learn alot from you guys! one question, doesn't every tea house provide laundry service? or is it possible to wash it by our own?
Thanks for watching! To answer your question yes some of the tea house do provide a laundry service. It also would be an option to do yourself if you would like. Meg and I personally did not do any laundry haha.
The trek lasts several days. If I take only 3-4 shirts, they will eventually get sweaty and might start to smell. I don't think there's an opportunity to do laundry there. Does that mean I'll have to wear smelly clothes the whole time?
Our guide provided all our cold weather gear for us, which is very typical! Otherwise is for some reason your guide does not provide gear it is very easy to rent right in kathmandu.

It is from a company called Calpak
Thank you so much!
No water to shower? Or it was your decision?
Every hotel has a shower , people are just too cold to shower
