I split my 359 muffler and removed all the baffle the welded back together with a 1” pipe 3 inches long. 1.5 inside and 1.5 sticking out. It’s a total different saw. I went back in and done little work to the ports on cylinder. It’s now my go to saw . I grab 359 them 346 now. If it’s really big wood the 372 gets used. I use a step bit

Nice work. I agree the 359’s are great saws. It is one of my go to saws for firewood.

Thanks, and the vice was definitely worth the time it took to make it.

A video on that build would be great.@@philschukraft89

even though you put such a large opening on it, you have to take the exhaust pipe out of it👍

From what I know about 2 stroke engines this mod will increase low and mid range power? I'm wondering if an expansion chamber would give much hi end rpm on a similar Husky engine?

It depends on the length, width, etc of the expansion chamber but if done right yes you can achieve high rpm gains. You can also achieve better low and mid range gains as well.

@@philschukraft89 Man! I see your proficient with tig welding. I haven't done enough tig practice to even think if laying down a good bead. Ive seen Expansion chamber calculators online but have not studied them enough to understand how to do all the measurements I know it has to do with degree /port opening & closing but First things first with having access to tig equipment. Ive seen a couple videos where cold rolled sheet metal is spot welded to make a closed pocket then hydraulic pressure blows it up like a balloon and they look ok but I doubt the accuracy is there like is needed to get specific power band results..I really like watching a Kawasaki 3 cylinder 2 stroke channel on TH-cam where they 1/4 mile drag. Those bikes at around 250cc per cylinder the custom pipes look about 6 feet long and about as round as a volleyball in the expansion area of the pipe. Insane speeds like 160 mph and 7 second 1/4 mile times.
