    After several seconds of that last chord, it doesn't even sound like a human voice any more, but more like some kind of fat analog synth. Absolutely amazing.

      @@sercangundogdu340 Maybe, probably, don't care. My only interest is in the fact that it sounds like a synth. If you were to sample it, apply an envelope and filter, nobody would know that it was originally human voices.

      @@sercangundogdu340 Funnily enough, had the pitch been shifted that synth sound would not have worked. Being "in tune" by computer standards (search 12-TET if you're interested) actually make the chord less "in tune" (tuned justly, i.e. with just intonation) when listened by human ears, thus the overtones would not generated had it been Autotuned. In fact, the classic "ringing" sound in barbershop could not generate at all if Autotune were used.

      It’s strange coming from the band world cause I’ve never heard a brass section or string section sustain a major chord and sound like a beeping synth. Like his timbre really sounded electronic but I won’t judge any more I’m not a singer or know much about it

    To the people who can't wrap their brains around this and think it must therefore be "fake": I get it. You've never heard anything like this before. As a 35-year barbershopper, trust me when I tell you that this is real. Tim can sing like this live (and has) in front of tens of thousands of people. Just because you've not experienced ability like this before doesn't mean it doesn't exist. To be fair, even among champs Tim is a bit of a phenom, but there are live examples by other champs which will certainly impress you just as much. Go down the rabbit hole on YT and find out for yourself.

      Yep, a lot of people don't actually know how good you can get at singing in tune when you train specifically for good harmony. It's understandable since they obviously have no personal exposure to real, trained, top level part singers. Anyone who doesn't know that the ringing, almost synth-like overtone effect you hear at the end is one of the signature sounds of good, LIVE barbershop should brush up before assuming it's impossible.

      @@spiffcheeso Plus getting an overtone is partially about matching vowel sounds and tone etc, much easier when you're singing with yourself! I feel really sad for anyone that's not heard live or helped create amazing harmonies and overtones like this!

      I don't think that's the vibrato. Might be the vibration of the notes going together (like when tuning a bass).

    Almost held it, sung it in head voice because I can sustain notes longer in that range, get very wobbly at the end, about a semibreve off

      Both are arranged by the same guy, Aaron Dale. I’d highly recommend checking out two choral pieces that he has arranged, one called “didn’t my lord deliver Daniel”, and the other “from now on”. They’re both incredible all the way through, and are performed by incredible vocal ensembles. I recommend listening to the first piece sung by the University of Pretoria Camerata choir, and the second sung by the Westminster Mens Chorus.

      what amazes me about the Notre Dame tag is that the Ringmasters are four absolute titans of their craft, excellent vocalists on their dedicated part and very good on the others. This guy emulates their kind of sound but just by himself. The ability to tune to a track rather than a person + sing all 4 parts so proficiently is outstanding

      @@danielm-k7393 as a singer, I completely agree. Hearing a track and singing with it well is really difficult to do, it’s so much easier with other people. Not to mention, the Ringmasters Notre Dame medley is what turned me onto barbershop, and therefore other kinds of vocal music. Their greatness has not only inspired me, but I bet thousands of others to aspire to their level.

    Again, I must say that right there was phenomenal! Everything about this video, Tim, was exquisite. If I could work on a few things with myself, it would be the holding of notes. And not just holding them, but still making them sound pure throughout the ending of the song or wherever that hold would need to be at. Tim, keep on singin’ and staying happy!
