My husband and I started trying to start a family when I was in my mid 20s, but had no luck. Found out in my late 20s that I had PCOS and I was told I was infertile. That if I wanted to have kids it would be extremely difficult and expensive. I tried dieting and medications, but still no luck. So we gave up. A couple months before I was about to have a preventative bilateral mastectomy, bc I also have BRCA1, I found out I was pregnant! I’m currently 38 weeks pregnant with our second, about to have 2 under 2! 😅 infertile who!?! 😂
This happened to me! I was told I had PCOS and boom a few months later I’m pregnant and have my first ….and then 2 months after having my first I got pregnant with our second. I had them 11 months apart 😅😅
Yep! I developed PCOS after the birth of my second child. We were told the same thing. Took 15 years but I started the zone diet and lots of prayer those 15 years. Finally after a 62lb weight loss and a year on zone I saw the signs of ovulation. Told my husband and bam we got pregnant. I was 39 the day he was born on Dec 28 my Christmas present late lol. Hubby was 44. Our son is now 12 and we tried to give him a sibling near his age as his sisters were 15 and 17 when he was born. We did not succeed but he became an uncle at 27 months old so now he does have a brother of sorts. Lol.
Diagnosed with PCOS at 21, i had never heard of it and seriously fell in depression after the doctor told me "Puedes olvidarte de ser madre si nos pierdes peso" i would cry every night cause my dream was always to become a mommy. After 5 years of TTC i got pregnant naturally and now have my baby girl 🩷 i started following you when i was pregnant!
I have PCOS but I am currently 30 weeks pregnant with baby no3. I have gotten pregnant first try with all 3 babies, but it took me some extra ovulation testing because of my irregular periods. With my first it took me 3 months of ovulation testing for it to be positive. I am lucky, I know, but I for sure know that people with PCOS are able to get pregnant 😂
@@kj5315 that must be a hard journey, I'm sorry! I didn't want to rub it in anyones face by the way, I just wanted to confirm that having PCOS doesn't necessarily mean that you can't have kids. It makes the journey for most a little harder or longer (I have had it easy compared to the marjority), but not impossible
I have PCOS probably since I was in HS. I’ll be 37 in 2 days. I had unprotected sex for 5 years (was not actively trying) never got pregnant. I got married at 28 got pregnant the month we got married. I did loose about 30 lbs 6 months prior though. My second child I stopped birth control and got pregnant that same month. So no PCOS does not equal infertility.
Great video! UK med student here hoping to specialise in O&G. I see so much information around women's health, especially around contraceptive use, and it's only really with video like this by TH-cam doctors like yourself and @MamaDoctorJones that we can combat this. Keep up the amazing work, and definitely make a part 2! PS: congratulations on your pregnancy!
Could you please make a video about PCOS for YT!!! I was diagnosed with PCOS last year in March and I lost my period and I want to know what I could do to help dealing with it natural. I am currently on birth control but ik i could do natural but all the things I find online aren't really helpful.
@Alirod MD I don't know if you're going to see this but have you or anyone else ever heard of anyone becoming depressed/not themselves or someone losing their appetite after having Mirena placed? When I tried to bring this up to my doctor they brushed it into the rug but I lost over 60 lb since I've had the IUD placed (I expected to lose some weight because I had just had a baby before I had it put in, but I went from 160 down to 100 lb and I was normally around 130). I had it placed in November 2019 and removed last week.
ITS INSANE!!!! I can’t believe it😭😭 my sister and husband have been tracking it all day waiting for it to turn to 100k and it’s so sweet. I really just can’t believe it!
Yes please do a video on PCOS. I am 27 and I have PCOS and it scares me to think about the difficulties for when I get married and wanting a family in the future 😭
Just got diagnosed with PCOS this month after 8 years of irregular periods. Would love an in-depth video and treatments , I was offered metformin or birth control. I did the pill before and hated it
I would love a video on every single topic you said you'd like to make a video of 🙈 Is it also possible to get a video on endometriosis and infertility and all things endometriosis basically ? Thank you !
Hello 👋, this is the first time I’m seeing you and I’m happy that the TH-cam algorithm finally got it right! I have PCOS and I got diagnosed in my early 30s after I decided to get off of birth control (Depovera, I expected to take my time to get pregnant 😅) because I wanted to prepare to get pregnant at some point: However, after diagnosis with PCOS, my doctor told me that I needed to get back on birth control and stay on it in order not to develop cancer or endometriosis. After researching, I understand why they said this, but I also know that this isn’t the end all to my journey. PLEASE MAKE A PCOS video that explains the reasons for the doctor to recommend only birth control.
@lizbeth.c6734, thank you for sharing that you had 6 c sections, I've had four so far and im due for my 5th at the end of October. My doctors always ask me if I am getting my tubes tied and because of my beliefs I just can't do it, but they put so much fear in you when it comes to the c sections. Now I know there are risk associated with c sections, but I am a believer that there is risk involving any type of birth! I just don't know what to do about birth control. So thank you for sharing you had 6!
I know alot of people do it just for fun but I’ve never seen a video of someone debunking and full explaining why certain wives tales are not true. I think that would be very interesting.
I had my iud for almost 9 years and I've been trying to have a baby for a year now, I've only gotten my period once this whole year. I've been tested for so many things and everything is coming out normal. So yea I'm getting desperate now.
I got pregnant from sex during my period in my early 20’s 🙋🏻♀️ Also I wonder-in families with lots of the same sex children-like someone who has multiple boys and just keeps having boys- is it possible for some men to randomly have a higher ratio of XY sperm? Kind of interesting and just something to ponder 🤔
Hello. I have a question- after exposure on Carbon monoxide 10-12 weeks of pregnancy 1x time a day 400ppm what should Iexpect? I didnt have any symptoms od poison.
Would you please discuss tubal reversal! I had it done.. can you do hsg asleep? I heard it's painful.. what should I do if tubes are blocked?? Thanks you are the best!
Ive had pcos since I got my period around 12-13 yrs old. I was on birth control for about a year and a half and got pregnant. I have not been able to concieve with misscarring afterwards. Its been almost 10 yrs now and still wonder if I will have get pregnant again... should I take estrogen?
Dr i do have a question i was taking slynd birth control in march and after i stopped it my periods have been so irregular . I am going to get the copper iud tommorow but my question is why r my periods so irregular and im not even on b.c ?
One of the funniest things I ever heard is a husband of a friend of mine was petrified that if he had sex with his wife, his baby daughter in utero would see his naked penis. He refused all intercourse so she had to take him to her OB to get an anatomy lesson. 🤦🏻♀🤦🏻♀🤣🤣
For my pcos I buy inositol the brand Ovasitol from Theralogix and that’s what helped my hormones on top of eating better and exercise and I conceived my second baby within three months! ❤
One thing I've heard is that the timing of having sex around ovulation can increase the chance of a specific gender. Earlier means more chance of having a girl (these sperms are slower and they longer survive they say). Sex near timing of ovulation means more chance of having a boy (because they are faster). Does it hold any truth to it? 😂
No. An individual sperm can only have an X or a Y sex chromosome, whereas an ovum (egg cell) can only contain a single X chromosome. Sex is therefore determined by whichever of the 200 million or so sperm reaches the egg first. The timeframe between ovulation and fertilisation does not make an Y-containing sperm more or less likely to reach the ovum first than a X-containing sperm. It’s all down to chance.
@@xxsaruman82xx87 ok, so sperm with y are not faster swimmers than sperm with x? The myth is about y-swimmers being faster and have a smaller survival the longer they are in the female awaiting ovulation. The myth only says it to increase the chance of having a gender, not determining it (i don't know the increase they claim). But if you say that the x or y doesn't do anything to the character of the specific sperm, then the myth is obviously a myth 😆 I couldn't find anything on that myth to debunk it so far.
Been extremely paranoid about pelvic inflammatory disease. Trying to understand how they test for it. Could you do a video on it?? I’ve never had clamydia or gonnor but I’ve had bv/ yeast infection for multiple months now.
Hey Ali!!! Love your videos and congrats on the baby, I’m right behind you at 35 years old and 14 weeks pregnant, first pregnancy. Only downside is I have fibroids, but I would love to see a video about the danger of fibroids during pregnancy and birth. Been praying for a natural birth 🙏🏽
Depending on the size, you’re at a risk for bleeding after delivery. However we have Pitocin, after delivery. We have Txa, methergine, and other meds to stop the bleeding. We also do uterus massages. Everyone loses blood, 500ml or less is okay. We also draw CBC, and type in screen. You will also find out if you’re GBS+ or -, if you’re positive we start antibiotics. Here in Memphis it’s 24hr stay for vaginal deliveries and 48 for c-section. The other 2 concerns is if you have gestational diabetes and or gestational hypertension. You want to deliver at 35 weeks or more, if not you’re baby will be in NICU. If you’re blood type is O, then we will check to see if your baby is Coombs +, if so then phototherapy. Without any complications, delivering at 35 weeks, you will go home with your baby in 1-2days. I think you stated you’re only 14 weeks, viable age is around 24 weeks. I would research the are around you and see what level of Nicu are in your area. I’ve been a postpartum RN for 14yrs, and traveled this country coast to coast. Oh btw, if you’ve had a myomectomy to remove the fibroids, then yes you will have to get a c-section. I hope I answered all your questions, I don’t know the absolute particulars in your case. Hope this helps.
