- As The A.V. Club discovered, there's an upside to having much of your perception of Baltimore come from The Wire: The city is a lot nicer than you'd expect. Yes, we understood on a realistic level that Baltimore wasn't just blocks upon blocks of Hamsterdam, but we were a little surprised by how charming Fells Point was when we arrived to meet Wire location scout Eric Bannat. Of course, right in the middle of Fells Point is the run-down building that was the headquarters for Homicide: Life On The Street. (Apparently it's being turned into a hotel.) It has a giant plaque out front to commemorate the show.
For the first of our two-part Pop Pilgrims on The Wire-you didn't think we could cram it all into one episode, did you?-Bannat took us to a bunch of spots that fans of the show should instantly recognize. From the basketball courts to the dog-fighting warehouse, from Marlo's corner to the cops' favorite hangout, everything is right there for any pop pilgrim to check out. (Many of the big interiors, of course, were sets, but you'll still feel like Bodie's sidekick walking around this neighborhood.)
On Wednesday, another whole bunch of locations you can visit in Bodymore, including the spot where-spoiler alert!-Omar got dropped.
The wire is Baltimore. It's actually a documentary portrayed as just entertainment.

They should make a Wire type show in Chicago. Sure, it wouldn't be the same, but anyone from chicago knows the similarities between Baltimore and Chicago after watching The Wire. From politicians, police and budget cuts, the drug game ran like a Mob.. It'd be awesome I bet.

I think The Wire and The Sopranos are the 2 best tv series ever made. I actually think Wire may be better as there were not any "weak" episodes at all. Sopranos had more than a few episodes that were slow and just not as good as the better episodes. Maybe it was because there were more seasons/more episodes.
the sopranos was probably slower because were only really being told tony's story, whereas in the wire we are seeing many stories. both good shows.

I replaced the big windows where avon got killed a d the bullpen scene was at the court house bullpen . We changed that glass for them to and a lot of other ones

'The Wire' intro song is wack (Keep devil down in the hole), by the time 'Power' came out they learned about having a solid intro song (They say this is a big rich town, I just come from the po'est part). Power's intro song is slammin'.

I’m not exactly sure why the final moments of this video State that “The Wire” did not get great ratings. It was an HBO show. Does Nielsen do ratings for subscription TV?
It really didn't compare to the sopranos or any of the tops shows at the time even tho its my favorite series. I was shock when I looked it up

@@christinacascadilla4473 They do indeed do ratings for subscription TV. THE WIRE was basically only done because the HBO boss at the time liked it, but it was cancelled twice----after Season 3, and after Season 4----and Simon had to beg them to change their minds.
