    Once my soil stops buffering, I plan on changing all my tanks to UGF. I'll probably change my neo tanks in the next couple of months. Still looking for the right containers and UGF to fit in them. I really like your new format and I must say I'm still loving the powdered food method of feeding. Makes it so much simplier because I no longer have to keep track of what foods I feed daily, I just mixed everything I had together and blended them up really nice.

    I think these shrimp are far more resilient than what alot of folks suggest online. You basically did a huge water change and I'm interested to see how they react. Any increased molting or deaths or anything at all. I'm sure the plants and floating plants will help with Ammonia from the soil as well. Can't wait to see how it goes. Fun to watch as usual!

    • @MarksShrimpTanks
      @MarksShrimpTanks  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I agree, I think the main issues are people not preparing the water before hand properly and over feeding, they see deaths and think it was the water change when its them overfeeding.

    Mark I'm not sure why this didn't show up in my feed. I try and watch Everything that you put out. I love this format. What you do on a daily basis probably answers a lot of the questions you are asked and we can figure things out in context.
    I have never seen a filter filled with substrate the material!! Thought about it, but never done it or seen it before. I wonder if you added fine lava rock with the soil, would it stop it from compacting plus create a better surface area for bacteria? I put it in a dirted tank mixed with worm castings for that same reason.
    I would appreciate your opinion and I'm sorry I missed this excellent video

    Hi Mark - a question. You referred to amazonia and the fact that it leeches ammonia. And you said you put some prime and bacteria. Will it be fair to say that you are going to have to keep on adding prime for quite some time? I am lead to understand that it will leach ammonia for several weeks. In a planted you can resolve this by doing massive water changed daily for the first week, every other day for the second, and so on. But you can't do that in a shrimp tank. So how long would you expect to keep adding prime? And surely that would in turn, slow down the maturation of the filter? Thanks
    PS love this format but do still like the lives and sharp room tours that you used to do too👍👍
    Cheers, Chris

    how well are your Sochting Oxydators working? I bought the D model and it kind of worked a little at first then the smaller bubbles stopped coming from the ceramic base and it just sort of popped a big bubble out every now and then from the space between container and base. I refilled it today and packed some filter floss around the gap between container and base which seams to help a bit. Best I can tell mine just doesn't have a tight enough seal around rubber. Why taking the risk to use ada straight in the tank, instead of for example cycling it Ina bucket separately with a sponge filter untill it's safe then move it when it's cycled? Plus you remove all the filter media that where full of good bacteria why not reuse it? Hope everything will be alright for the shrimpies.
