Dennis, great question! I think that would be true if we were wrapping the hackle and wire from the same point on the shank. Here, since we're wrapping from two points working in opposite directions, we do achieve a fairly durable counter-wrapped body. I'll admit, I had to go back and check my work and even wrap a few feathers up on a bare shank 😂. Try it out, and let us know what you think!
@@TheNorthernAnglerFlyShop Hmmm... I think I understand your thought but I believe you will still have the wire and hackle running in parallel spirals like whit and red on a candy cane. While if the wire was counter wrapped to the hackle you would have numerous crossovers creating greater security in protecting the hackle stem. You might want to reconsider. Love your videos.😃
Are you going add your own little personal flair to this fly? Let us know what kind of upgrades you'll be adding!
I'm from Wolverine!! I'll be sure to use these for our local Steelhead here on the Sturgeon!!
🎉 Another Great 👍🏻 Pattern Matt !!!!
Hard work to find the STEELIES as of late ?!?

That hat is dope. Where can I get one??? Fly is similar to a thin mint which is $$$$ here in Colorado.
Thanks Steve! That's the "Premium Treatments" hat from our friends over at Loon Outdoors. loonoutdoors.com/products/premium-treatments-hat
Hi. Would the fly be more durable if the wire was counter-wrapped?
