Jason, I now have an even greater appreciation of how much work goes into each of your videos. Thank you for sharing this one with us, I can only imagine how stressful it was when the drone stalled over the water! Your videos are even more special with all the work you put into each one. Thanks!
Rhody pride! The countless urbex locations this state has like Pawtucket train station, Dutch Island, and Fort Wetherill are such an underrated part of the Ocean State's character.
Incredible job on this Jason. Always love seeing this coverage on our little state. 💙 I mentioned it before in your comments, and though the place isn’t “abandoned”, it’s just a shell of what it once was - Slater Park Zoo, or Daggett Farm. There’s a huge story to be told there on what could have been the rival to Roger Williams Park Zoo - There’s old concept art for what would have been an insane renovation to the facility, but unfortunately Pawtucket underfunded this facility to the point where it no longer served as the zoo it would have been, but just a petting zoo now with a few goats, ponies, and chickens. They’re doing some nice stuff with it, but the old enclosures are still there for Fanny the Elephant and the Monkey Island, I’ve been collecting some information on this place for a while so if you ever want to connect on this I’m happy to provide as much as I can! Much less chances for trespassing too, lol
My wife and I LOVE your videos. Lived in RI for 78 years😌now living in Florida😕. Watch your vids as soon as they post. You are so dedicated to quality and creativity. Had to replay the arm several times😂😂as I wasn’t sure that my eyes were performing properly. So much effort and research goes into each video. Thank you. Love revisiting my home through your efforts. Have a wonderful safe and prosperous new year
Jason, they tore down all the structures of the buildings within the last couple years. I’ve been on that island back in the 70s and we almost got arrested it was a stressful moment, but they could see we were in our barefoot and are swim shots just mosey around .It was amazing to see the machinery and the old buildings stock with inventory. Massive stuff such a waste of the government leaves behind for years. and now is all cleaned up and still off-limits. Love your videos Jay EG
Bro being extra careful that “we” all know he did NOT go to the island. I wonder if “someone” was questioning about the last video on this place 🤔. These videos are awesome. Thank you. Obviously a lot of hard work goes into it.
As a fellow M3P flier and also being in New England, I have enjoyed finding your channel. It must be nice to have those young eyes to be able to visualize your drone that far!😉 With my old eyes, I need to put a strobe on it to keep vlos. Personally, I would have abated much of the risk by chartering a boat to bring me closer! Great video, with excellent editing and a good narrative. Keep up the great work!
Wow 2 videos in a week and how you pulled off the last video of Gould Island was amazing i really had no idea how you did it until now . The amount of time you spent making Gould Island Torpedo Station video is crazy plus there was a very good chance you could have lost your drone you took a risk but in the end the whole video cam out better than a high end TV production Co Mr Jason you are a Master at what you do .. Mr Jason take care and enjoy your Sunday and i will always be waiting for your next Video to come out
Thanks for the excellent presentation! To reduce risk of running out of battery or losing connection over water, could you rent a kayak and paddle out near the island?
Always wanted to kayak there haha also have the same drone! I’m from the area as well! Love your work man been watching you for years. Have taken a lot of photos of the places you take videos.
@4:45 for about 5 seconds there is a boat visible in your footage of the lee of the torpedo shop firing pier. I realize you say you can't go on the island, and of course there is signage saying that, but it is obvious someone did.
People fish out there all the time, and many these days get out on the pier since it was demolished. My Dad's house faces this island and we wakeboard around it all the time
Hi Jason , I’m a big fan of the channel. I found it last year. Been watching since even going back and watching some of your old content I was really curious watching this particular video and I understand if you can’t say anything because of an NDA potentially if you had to sign one or you can’t talk about it because it’s an ongoing matter, but did someone reach out to you in a legal basis this just doesn’t seem like your typical kind of video like it nonetheless just doesn’t seem like your usual spin on stuff really love the Rocky point video by the way🎉 best wishes for your 2025
I think it's more something they're doing just in case anyone from the government sees the other video. That way it's clear to them he didn't set foot on the island. You have to be careful when it comes to places like this plus it's a good idea as you don't want to make the rest of the drone and exploration community look bad or give the government more reason to step up security and/or restrictions.
Next time, do it in summer and I'll drive you out there. Dutch island comes to mind ... the artillery holes are pretty cool and there's a ton of gun emplacements
Man, I gotta get me a drone! 😀 It's so hard (and more importantly time consuming) to get permission for all the places I want to visit. I've just always been apprehensive about distances and flight times, but I guess if you're careful it can be coordinated over several flights.
I can set my 3dr to do different things when battery reaches what ever level i choose. Like return to me via same path, climb a pre set amount before returning directly and what speed to come back at. I can also set it to return to me if video or control signalis lost. Same thing i can set how it comes back to me. Id get a boat out closer and launch from there because my eye sight wouldnt be good enough. ;). Nice photo opportunity though.
Back in the 80's my uncle and I would take his boat out there and fish from the old pier. The government really didn't keep an eye on it or give a shit about people going out there plus we never went further into the island. I wouldn't risk it now as things might have changed but this place will always have some good memories associated with it.
I would love to go along with you exploring one of these abandoned places, maybe even the tunnels on one side of the crook bascule bridge. Im located near warwick if you down.
Hey Jason. I really enjoy your videos and can't wait for the next one. What would you recommend for someone who wants to start using drones? Something on the low end and the price scale but not total garbage.
If you were expecting to se the island, you have about 15 seconds worth of the island, and about 9 minutes of how to film using a drone. Don't waste your time.
Thanks for this video. You’re the reason I started photographing the Green Jacket Shoal. Love seeing your settings on the RC. Great shots!!! @trav.potts
Love the channel and your respect and preservation of the sites. Well Done!
Thanks Michael - I appreciate the support
Always so weird to see Rhode Island on TH-cam. I’ve learned much about this state in which I live from your channel.

Doing big things in the smallest state. Rock on, we dig it!

Amazing what you went through to make the video a success! This was very interesting and cool to see your behind the scenes efforts. Thanks!
love your content, man, and the behind the scenes makes it clear how impressive your production quality is. 👏
Was it not possible to get a boat to launch from so you wouldnt have 40 minutes of travel time per shoot?
not in this economy
While true if you live in Rhode Island you don't have a friend with a boat to use @@JasonAllard
Probably would have gotten the Navy’s attention as well.
Love the window into the process for such an awesome video. I hope you'll do more videos explaining your production process!
GREAT content!!! You earned a new subscriber!!!
Great video! This video popped up in my suggestions. I am hooked. Heading over to your channel to sub and watch more. Thanks for sharing.

Good idea.
Just awesome...so talented!
curious about why you chose not to paddle out near the island to reduce that there-and-back battery consumption

Should have taken a boat and stayed 200 feet from the island. Launched drone from 200 feet away saves 10000 feet of travel battery life.
December/January in RI most boats are pulled for the winter. In season great idea however.
@@aat17068 true enough. In Rhode Island though people always know a guy who knows a guy who has what you need. Lol
Can see boats in the video, one tied basically on the island
Thanks for the excellent presentation! To reduce risk of running out of battery or losing connection over water, could you rent a kayak and paddle out near the island?
The water out there can get notoriously choppy and dangerous, and a mile is a long way to paddle.
We don’t want your spam
LOL! That's awesome, dude! I've flown the bridge in Newport-it's thrilling but so enjoyable; definitely worth it!
Always wanted to kayak there haha also have the same drone! I’m from the area as well! Love your work man been watching you for years. Have taken a lot of photos of the places you take videos.
That’s a great way of checking out places you can’t really get to and turned out to be cool video 👍

I’ve been on the island. I live in Jamestown. We did a boys scout project over there when I was a kid.

Now we just need one of Antarctica with a drone or drones🧐🤔🧐
Our mom worked there as a draftswoman during WW2!
Fantastic work as always and great appreciated, and hello from Smithfield.
I have an abandoned marina with 2 sunk boats, another soon to follow if your interested
Thanks!
I love your videos! I'm in EG and love that you are based out of RI!

So this is a video about the video i thought i was watching from the title.
Check out the abandoned PP in Somerset where PB visited with other officials. It’s very unsettling!!
Somerset Ma near Fall River
Very cool
awesome
This video is as interesting as any of your other installments. Thanks!
3:22 Your arm lookin' long bro
its Techicaly not abandoned since the navy owns half of the Island and still uses it
What the heck happened to your arm at the 6:25 mark?
Are you an octopus alien pretending to be human? Where's the other 7 arms?
You are very good at this. I hope your channel sees tremendous growth in 2025 and beyond.
Before Droneaggedon
Hey Jason. I really enjoy your videos and can't wait for the next one. What would you recommend for someone who wants to start using drones? Something on the low end and the price scale but not total garbage.
I'd recommend a DJI drone - something like the new DJI Mini 4K would be a good start for its size and quality.
Gould wasnt much fun went there to farm for a good year. Now long island, awesome. Gotta show u theres other states. Go near foxwoods
Why didn't you just get on a boat...
Government property yeah but the public elects them and pays for their salary and projects so it's public property lol
If you were expecting to se the island, you have about 15 seconds worth of the island, and about 9 minutes of how to film using a drone. Don't waste your time.
And then you woke up smart and realized the actual video about the island is separate and twice as long. This video was about filming it.
Thanks for this video. You’re the reason I started photographing the Green Jacket Shoal. Love seeing your settings on the RC. Great shots!!! @trav.potts
Could have gotten more footage per battery and less risk of losing the drone if you took a row boat / kayak / canoe out closer to the island.
