As others have said, this is for the stretch from Delta Junction to Handsacre where HS2 ends. The bit up to Crewe only got up to Prep work if i remember correctly, so abandoned Sites would be non existent
This site is not abandoned it is subtect to a review of the layout connecting to the WCML with the cancellation of the route to Crewe . New designs for a revised connection to the slow lines instead of the up lines will take a while considering that Local Planning Permission will be needed.
Thanks for the info. I initially flew the drone to get a shot of the radio tower, then noticed all the earthworks so had a little fly around to see what was going on. I'm going to keep going back to see how they are progressing with the site.
New designs, a revised connection, planning. That's a few more billion then. If you think the present post office scandal is big, HS2 will be up there with global warming, green energy, electric cars and pandemics in the Olympics of greed ripping off the public. Ernie Marples was a saint compared to today's lot.
@@EllieMaes-Grandad Don't know where you get your hair brained ideas from but yes HS2 is in the Uk's best interest as it frees up the WCML for more pasenger train and freight train services South of Crewe by diverting 99% of Avanti West Coast Express train services onto the HS2 route from London Euston to Handsacre in Staffoerdshire just south of Crewe where the HS2 line will connect onto the existing upgraded West Coast Main Line to Crewe
I've been following this fiasco for a decade at least. It's an €USSR-mandated scheme and the project was authoratively debunked way back. The extra line capacity to be freed-up was intended for commuter trains to Birmingham and London, which wfh and modern technology is rendering redundant. @@peterwilliamallen1063
HS2 will still be built here.
HS2 is ending at Handsacre. A couple miles north of Lichfield.
I wasn't sure what they would be doing here. I'm going to keep visiting the area to document any progress. Thanks for the info.
Handsacre Junction is vital, otherwise there will be an almighty muddle at Handsacre as WCML and HS2 traffic comes together in a few years' time.

Has a feel of being an ancient Iron age structure just waiting to be seen from space in a thousand years time!!!!!
Great views. This is an important snippet of history you captured.
Thank you.
It needs to be completed

@@Wallettography That's no radio tower. That's Sutton Coldfield TV mast. One of the main one's in the country.

archeologists in years to come ------------- very odd ....
there are no abandoned sites as phase 2 never started construction
Once we started we should of finished it regardless of the extra cost. Won’t effect me, I live in Devon.
It does affect you, you’re paying for it
Are they not going to return the land to how it was and replant the tress!
Once the Railway is finnished the land will return to how it was thanks to nature
looks like fields to me not forest
To do that would be an even bigger mistake than Sunak's decision.
Labour would have to pull out all the new trees
.
The decision to build HS2 was right, but all the following decisions were wrong including the decision of Sunak.
It’s the reason why I won’t be voting conservative next time
The decision to build HS2 was mandated by €USSR . . . . thus not in UK's best interests. As for the cost . . .

Sunak being pm is the biggest problem that and the tories being in power
Hs2 what a failure, if it gets to Euston in my life time I’ll eat my hat and I’m only 5
You need to grow up some more and understand what HS2 is about

Well in your life time it will definately get to Euston
