I don’t think Belmo gets enough credit for how well he kept the ball in front of him the first two games. He’s really good at just about every part of the lane
Why are these pros using so much hook on their spares? I understand splits and the 3-4-9-10, but are they really that confident in their ball reaction to try something that wild?
I think it's because of the nature of reactive resin to absorb oil into the coverstock, and since the practice lanes and tv patterns are laid down with blue oil, over time the ball just absorbed enough blue oil to make it show up! It did look pretty cool though.
If you look at the number of FLUSH strikes he got in each game, you can see the crazy progression that Belmo went from relying on carry to relying on perfect shots. Game 1: 2 of 8 (7th, 10th frame) Game 2 (before ball change): 3 of 5 Game 2 (after ball change): 2 of 3 Games 3 & 4: 15 of 16 That's amazing to see how he went from almost lost to easily found.
