My favorite part was seeing you smiling and having fun. Having lower expectations and something new to figure out seems to have reignited that love of the game.
2:28 As someone who works in a bowling alley with a good bit of PBA and USBC events I absolutely love people who respect the house and clean up after themselves and others, thanks Darren! 👍
I absolutely love and respect multiple things about this video. For one, the fact that you are so driven for perfection and success that you have the sense of you let yourself down for just a brief moment ............when this is your FIRST attempt at two handed bowling in a tournament. The second, is that when you felt that first emotion, your mental strength allowed you to immediately eliminate the disappointment and enjoy how well you actually performed. Professional and personal growth all rolled into one. The mark of a professional. As always, love the vid, and really happy to see the growth.
Congrats DT2.0. To make the switch in a very short time and accomplish what you did today is huge. Don't downplay it. You put the time in and almost made step ladder on your first tournament 2 handed. Respect to you.
The biggest take away, that positive reinforcement during your self talk. The difference in how you handle the situation and still punch 2 teen, verses, getting frustrated that it's not working, and shooting 160-170. Solid work!
2:31 as a mechanic at a bowling alley who has to clean the settee area as well as the ball return hoods before and after leagues, thank you so much i wish more people thought like you. Some people leave Rosin powder everywhere and just don't care, i just expect a lot more of people who are considered professionals.
Damn DT 2.0 is now starting to look the part. Your 2 hand approach is looking solid now. Especially being your 1st 2 handed event in the short time you've switched shows this may want to be your new style. It was nice to see you happy, smiling, and enjoying yourself out there again and not being so hard on yourself. You got this man, you're just gonna just get even better than here...and you did great here.
Dude..that was one of the coolest things I've seen you do. Cleaning your powder up is next level. I work in a center where any scratch tournaments we have, no one seven thinks to do that.
It should be bare minimum. But I admit, I forgot to clean up after myself from time to time because I let how I bowled that night affect my mood. But, for the most part, I tried to clean my little area after I was done.
My favorite part of the video is how you handle adversity, it's very duality of man, the caring nature meets tough love meets self deprivation. All signs of great passion. God bless you on this journey
Hey Darren, I was wondering if you could make a video explaining what you think about when bowling a tournament. You are so good being able to compete with both styles.
I hadn't bowled in 11 years, and I just went bowling last night. Bowled 2 handed (because my old balls aren't drilled for my now adult hands) and I bowled a 184, a 205, and a 234. I've missed it so much
Very inspiring. I've tried two handed a couple of times now and I felt I was definitely improving. I will try more on my practice days. I'm 62 so not sure if I can make the conversion but seeing you go at it I can't wait to get back and try again. Others have told me to not try changing but I'm always willing to change things up.
My respect for you for trying this is astronomic. I'm a 1-hand guy but seeing you giving this an honest shot gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. You're amazing!
I started bowling two months ago and I just bowled my first 200+ game in league last night! I have made all of my improvements by watching your two handed content. Keep up the great work!
Finanlly, I became your fan. Seing you bowled two handed and spare shooting one handed some other time is what Im doing too lately. Im a one handed bowler for 35 years and now mixing one handed and two handed in our club tournaments using the same ball, thumb in for 2 handed. Wish you succeed and win more in PBA.
In the world of Bowling and the PBA, D Tang is unlike any other. He will accomplish wonders. Humanity will look to the sky with hope for tomorrow and...oh wait. I'm sorry I got a little carried away there.
I don’t know why this was recommended to me, but I loved every second! I know nothing about bowling and was amazed at how nice all the pros are to one another!
Great Video. I miss bowling PBA regionals. I stopped almost 12 years ago. Seeing these videos bring back memories. All the best to you and great videos i am thinking about a return for the PBA50 in a couple of years.
That was really good for the first try at the 2 handed. Cut yourself a little slack on not making all the right moves in the new style. New options on things to adjust will come with more time in DT 2.0 bowling.
I wanna see you learn to throw a backup ball 2 handed. I started off one handed no thumb and always threw backup at 10 pins cause I couldn't throw straight, then I switched to 2 handed, and a couple years later I started throwing backup balls when the oil got too bad on the right side, and I truly believe you could do it too to greater effect than me :P Place your throw hand on the inside of the ball with your palm facing the right gutter and follow your swing through trying to touch your left shoulder while learning to throw it (I don't actually follow through towards the left when I throw it backup, but it helps for learning, once you have the swing down, it actually more feels like I push my hand to the left at the bottom and and sort of whip it towards the right through the shot to give me my revs)
Dude, you got balls trying two handed in a tour when you've only been doing it for 4 months, kudos man. Rooting for you! One of my favorite bowlers by far
Darren. Congrats. You bowled great. keep it simple. Urethane is the way to go for two handed. It enables you to keep the ball in front of you to be around the pocket. With your rev rate around 475 you will carry more than you think even when you close down your angles.
Great bowling D! 👏🏾 cashing spot for your first time doing 2-hand in pro competition is sick! This is the most fun I’ve seen you have 2-handed no seconds guessing just trusting the shot. Keep it up 💪🏾
Dt2.0 looking nice. It's almost a blend with your 1 handed. The set up is the same and footwork. Which i think is cool. I thought about switching but I started bowling with 1 hand no thumb. Still trying to smooth out the 3 finger release.
You throw a great 2 handed ball! I'm an old guy, and NOT a professional that made the switch from 1 handed to 2 handed, and it didn't really come together until I stopped trying to bowl both ways. Once I made the decision that it was 2 handed it nothing, it all started coming together.
Way to grind! Change is hard especially in styles of bowling. I am currently switching up and bowling two handed. I’m working on bowling a regional soon.
I have seen 2 younger kids bowl similar to Tim and their parents were trying to teach them not to. Made me wonder how many people were coached out of a unique style they could have made work
"Say it" "What, the left is walled?!" 4 months into 2 handed bowling and you take 6th at an RPI. That's a fantastic weekend and a hell of start on your competitive two handed journey.
The best part was cleaning up. I can’t have a giant mess and don’t leave a mess when done. Drives me nuts when proper trash the place and leave. But the worst is the proper that leave the house balls on the return and leave it for the staff
Why Darren Tang is a pro and I'm not reason #23: BALL SPEED CONSISTENCY: 7 Shots release to head ping: 2.3 / 2.29 / 2.3 / 2.3 / 2.27 / 2.25 / 2.28 (basically two seconds and 30/60)
Bro Darren is a beast at bowling for such a short period of that he have bowled 2 handed and coming out in 6 th place is amazing keep up the good work honestly incredible
Darren - seriously great job man. You should be proud!! One question if I may ask - You mentioned throughout the video you wanted to roll it more - I assume you come right up the back of it? - that said, do you find it to be harder to roll it 2 handed or 1 handed?? Thanking you in advance… ~S
I learned a lot from the way you think during the match. Also, I really enjoyed the scene where you were cleaning the table. I’ve always bowled one-handed because I like it, but seeing my favorite player working on two-handed bowling made me think I might give it a try too. Still, I know it’s going to be a very tough and long journey…
I am a natural 1 hand 2 finger bowler and in this past league I’ve started practicing my 2 handed skills and it’s pretty neat to see the difference in ball reaction and strain on your body
I think finishing 6th in your first event as a 2-hander is great start. Hopefully, you keep bowling that way to really master some of the tricks that Belmo and Simo use to keep the scores high enough to make the ladders.
ever since i started bowling 2 handed i've kept 1 thing in my head. That is simply "Monkey throw ball" i tell myself this every time i start over thinking what im doing and getting upset. That being said its insane to see how well you are doing after such a short time of 2 handed bowling. Congrats.
I know I’ve been gone for a while but hearing a different song over the montage feels so surreal. Like I felt like I was watching something I wasn’t supposed to 😂
i have bowled for 30 years. this summer at 47 years old i did two handed. average like 170 ish. now my winter league at a tough place with old wood lanes and above ground ball returns i am averaging 160 but last week i shot my first 600. 621 with a 256 last game. it is feeling better.
Bowling 2 handed just immediately eliminates the hardest part of bowling for most people; getting your thumb out quick like EJ and creating revs. Totally removing that component from the game is huge. Then it comes down to precision, repetition, ball speed control, tricks with your hand position and having good speed. When I switch from 1 hand to 2, I lost accuracy, ball speed, repeatability, consistency of my release, so much. You sacrifice so much for revs but the ball carry doesnt lie. Power seems to be the way right now. Francois won 2 majors I think. I haven't seen him on TV in a while. He has everything but revs and speed. High rev, High speed guys are just taking over.
Another bowler who has fabulous touch and a smooth release is Shark Prather. He won several majors as well. He's about as skillful a PWB pro as I've ever seen, along with Francois. But you are right. Neither of them have been on TV much lately. It's been the 2-handers with the 540 rev rate, plus EJ Tackett. Another 1-hander to keep an eye on is Kevin McCune, son of Rocket McCune. That dude throws the ball about 22 mph and still generates about 500 RPM. Rev rate not as high as EJ but that crazy ball speed translates into scary pin action. When he's on, his pocket is about 1 foot wide.
Practice! I started bowling no thumb in the 1990s. I practiced about a year before I started bowling league like that. I bowled both ways. After 20 years away, I started back a couple years ago thumb in. Beginning of this year I went to thumb out full time including spares. Average on sport shot is 20 pins higher.
This is why I hate two handed bowling. There used to be a level of difficulty and a barrier of entry to acquiring a high-rev accurate release. Therefore there was competition with guys who were smoother and maybe lower power but more accurate. 2 handed just eliminates all the difficulty and work in getting high revs hence we now see world class bowlers like Darren have to switch to compete in a landscape where no one has control over their rev rate so they rely on urethane and burn the lane up and play half a tournament in front of the ball return chucking it with two hands. I know the popular argument is that two handed saved bowling but I feel that it’s done nothing but lower the bar for what’s impressive and created a sea of clones.
Darren 2 handed gotta go for it. Just practice two handed. I could never hook 1 handed switch to two handed and it’s just easier. Took 7 years off and finally averaging over 175 again. Keep at it you will win a title two handed
I love these videos, but man I miss the older ones of actually being able to see most or all of the shots. It’s enjoyable to see the moves, ball changes, challenges, and figuring things out. To me, the best format would be one video of day 1, one video of day 2 with as many shots shown as possible.
I just started bowling again after not bowling for almost 30yrs, This whole 2 handed thing is so foreign to me, I last bowled with an original Blue Hammer in the 90's where I carried a 218 average. I bought the new Xcel that I saw you review/demonstrate and drilled it for my conventional fingertip and thumb grip, Hopefully I can adjust to the new ball and lane technology and get back to scoring in the 200's. Thanks for sharing these videos they are a lot of fun.🤘😎🎳
Great job! I think you could make the switch way sooner than 2027. Probably not a bad idea to keep on shooting spares one handed. it's just easier to throw straight. You've got the fundamentals down thanks to years of experience so changing to two hands can't hurt. I'd love to see ya on a tv show bowling two hands, maybe even win. It'd give Randy Pedersen a great story to tell on air!
its just a respectful thing to do in any situation.
Oh ya and those darn bags they toss everywhere and gets particles everywhere including on my hands which is super annoying.
I absolutely love and respect multiple things about this video. For one, the fact that you are so driven for perfection and success that you have the sense of you let yourself down for just a brief moment ............when this is your FIRST attempt at two handed bowling in a tournament. I thought he's already been a pro for quite some time
@@Forever31-u7k he was but he is starting to switch to 2 handed
The biggest take away, that positive reinforcement during your self talk. The difference in how you handle the situation and still punch 2 teen, verses, getting frustrated that it's not working, and shooting 160-170. Solid work!

Jesse is crushing it on the quality of these videos. Nice job to the both of you guys.
Hey Darren, I was wondering if you could make a video explaining what you think about when bowling a tournament. You are so good being able to compete with both styles.

That was EXCELLENT!!! Great job for your first 2-handed pba event
It almost looks like I’m watching movie😂 it’s just so good!!
I started bowling two months ago and I just bowled my first 200+ game in league last night! I have made all of my improvements by watching your two handed content. Keep up the great work!
Tiny men always do well two handed, love to see it. Keep it up! Or get bigger/stronger.

Im a one handed bowler for 35 years and now mixing one handed and two handed in our club tournaments using the same ball, thumb in for 2 handed. Wish you succeed and win more in PBA.
Have you experimented with no thumb? I started out thumb in 2 handed but felt way more comfortable after taking my thumb out.
In the world of Bowling and the PBA, D Tang is unlike any other. He will accomplish wonders. Humanity will look to the sky with hope for tomorrow and...oh wait. I'm sorry I got a little carried away there.
Just keep up the great content! Don't forget "YOU ARE A GREAT BOWLER"! And an awesome personality! That's why we subscribe
I don’t know why this was recommended to me, but I loved every second! I know nothing about bowling and was amazed at how nice all the pros are to one another!
Congratulations on 6th!!! Lots of people wished they finished that high. Keep up the hard work!
Amazing how much you can open your angle and have reactive peel off the back end.
17:26 that dude to the right of you had a wild throw technique!…do you know how he ended up?
I wanna see you learn to throw a backup ball 2 handed. I started off one handed no thumb and always threw backup at 10 pins cause I couldn't throw straight, then I switched to 2 handed, and a couple years later I started throwing backup balls when the oil got too bad on the right side, and I truly believe you could do it too to greater effect than me :P

I'd argue out of any VLOG in recent memory, your mental game looked fantastic.
Good luck next season ureTANG
Dude, you got balls trying two handed in a tour when you've only been doing it for 4 months, kudos man. Rooting for you! One of my favorite bowlers by far
How did the shorter backswing affect your timing and how much speed difference do you have from one hand to two.
Darren. Congrats. You bowled great. keep it simple. Urethane is the way to go for two handed. It enables you to keep the ball in front of you to be around the pocket. With your rev rate around 475 you will carry more than you think even when you close down your angles.
Curious to know what your layout is for the red ball and ion max. Great results for your first Pba regional 2 handed!
What is that song playing at the beginning of game 1. Got that dog in me. I am loving it and want that in my playlist
been waiting for this
Very impressive and I love your self-talk. Aside: Bro decided to just start doing planks in between shots, lol
I just want to say I think you did awesome! have loved watching you and I want to see you succeed as you switch! You Got IT!
Great bowling D! 👏🏾 cashing spot for your first time doing 2-hand in pro competition is sick! This is the most fun I’ve seen you have 2-handed no seconds guessing just trusting the shot. Keep it up 💪🏾
Good stuff darren! What did you feel was more comfortable? Doing event 1 handed or this two handed one?
With your bowling intelligence, repeatable style , spare shooting and the added revs from two hands I think this is a great move for you
Dt2.0 looking nice. It's almost a blend with your 1 handed. The set up is the same and footwork. Which i think is cool. I thought about switching but I started bowling with 1 hand no thumb. Still trying to smooth out the 3 finger release.

Ive been through BK ng about starting back two-haned. Watching you was a bit of an early inspiration.
Way to grind! Change is hard especially in styles of bowling. I am currently switching up and bowling two handed. I’m working on bowling a regional soon.
Quite a few shots were "hit the button" worthy but Lance told me it broke...
NEW NUT BUTTON WHEN? 👀
Glad to see you smiling 😃 so two handed for start of pba
Congrats man. I would love to see you make the full transition. You are also inspiring me to try it out my self.
What if all the kids start bowling like Tim Cagle like they did with Belmo in years past 😅. We might get a DT 3.0 someday 😅
I have seen 2 younger kids bowl similar to Tim and their parents were trying to teach them not to. Made me wonder how many people were coached out of a unique style they could have made work
Lance and Jenna told Darren to hit it Harder ❤🎉😊
Shout out to Jason Eubanks!
"Say it"
"What, the left is walled?!"
4 months into 2 handed bowling and you take 6th at an RPI. That's a fantastic weekend and a hell of start on your competitive two handed journey.
how does the arm feel after compared to 1-handed?
Do you still cash out at 6th?
The best part was cleaning up. I can’t have a giant mess and don’t leave a mess when done. Drives me nuts when proper trash the place and leave. But the worst is the proper that leave the house balls on the return and leave it for the staff
The fact that you knew, going in, that you wouldn't be bowling...props. Would love to play some golf with you if there was a chance.
DAREN!!!!! THE BOWLING CONTENT GOAT!!
Sometimes make somethin completely different and change styles brings back the fun and the love for the sport. Good do see you smile again
Why Darren Tang is a pro and I'm not reason #23: BALL SPEED CONSISTENCY: 7 Shots release to head ping: 2.3 / 2.29 / 2.3 / 2.3 / 2.27 / 2.25 / 2.28 (basically two seconds and 30/60)

Great stuff DTang! Keep up that grind!
Very cool Darren. I love that you're trying that two-hander now. I thought about it but I think I'm just too old. Good for you bro!!!
I love seeing the switch. Hope to see more of it! Love Darren either way!
I am a natural 1 hand 2 finger bowler and in this past league I’ve started practicing my 2 handed skills and it’s pretty neat to see the difference in ball reaction and strain on your body

6th place on your first two handed event must be causing that little birdie on your shoulder to be like, “Switch” 😙
can someone explain the dude on the right at 17:26
Came to the comments to see for myself lmao I was wondering
I know I’ve been gone for a while but hearing a different song over the montage feels so surreal. Like I felt like I was watching something I wasn’t supposed to 😂
Got my new solid effect tour throw it yesterday first feels good but wish I had oil that day on lanes lol 😂
Hi Darren, can you show us how you put kinesho tape on your forearm? Thanks
good job mate, 6th for your first outing as a 2 hander is nothing to shy away from
idk about yall but i am excited to see the Dtang resurgence
Keep giving me hope. I’m still trying 2handed. Of course I’m 25-30 years older than you lol
That's awesome that you're still using an Alpha Crux! Those are so hard to find, do you have a stash of them or something? hahaha
I enjoyed watching you bowl 2 handed. I wish you could teach me to cross that many boards with my ball! Good Luck on the Tour!!!
Keep up the progress
I've bowled 2 handed since 1990! But I shoot my spares 1 handed like you tho! 😂 Great job on 6th place! No more flat 10's and way more pin action!
How did You Forrest and 180 (lol) Do ?
That's a tough decision Darren but I definitely see how much you have improved 2 handed and your swing is so smooth
Been waiting to see him with a urethane ball two handed. Looks how I thought it would. Good job.
i have bowled for 30 years. this summer at 47 years old i did two handed. average like 170 ish. now my winter league at a tough place with old wood lanes and above ground ball returns i am averaging 160 but last week i shot my first 600. 621 with a 256 last game. it is feeling better.

Consistency, pace, body shape, distance on movement to the line, release height, ball placement. All a routine.
Darren lookin NASTY 2 handed. Excited to see the future on how much more you can improve with this style. Keep it up brotha!
Do you have separate balls for when you one hand and two hand or are they the same ball?
Darren, you are talented. More hard work, you are almost there.
Give yourself some Grace you both good for your first time to end it❤
Tim Cagles a Cool Guy.Nice Double handed Bowling DTang
Honeslty you looked smoother and more confident. Even though you commented every shot you weren't. Looked like you were more relaxed
Great job Darren!! Also, it looked like Cagle was wearing a cape at first. 😅
I love these videos, but man I miss the older ones of actually being able to see most or all of the shots. It’s enjoyable to see the moves, ball changes, challenges, and figuring things out.
To me, the best format would be one video of day 1, one video of day 2 with as many shots shown as possible.
I don’t know the rules exactly but I didn’t think it was allowed to be able to throw both two handed and one in a game
Darren, for your first time doing this in a match, you freaking killed it bro. Whoa.
I love watching you bowl! YOU ABSOLUTELY WACK IT TWO HANDED!
