I lost my arm in Iraq in 05. Then I had vessels removed from my other arm that same year. My remaining arm was very weak. As therapy, my doctor suggested I find a way to strengthen it with hand exercises and light weights. One day I decided to go bowling because I could use the lighter kiddie bowling balls to start and it wouldn't put to much of a strain on me. 6 months in and I was using much heavier balls and feeling strong. I developed a spin and it became consistent. 1 year and 5 months after my surgery I bowled a 248 and I still get happy thinking about that day. I haven't been able to eclipse that mark but gotdammit, I'm a bowler.
As a huge Prather fan, I lived and died with him that last match. Those back to back 10 pins at the end were so painful to watch. Like him, I thought he had lost for sure. Poor Jason Sterner stepped up needing just a 9-spare-strike to win, and a strike would have won it outright, and he almost threw it into the gutter. He was lucky to get an 8 count to force the rolloff. Sterner had bowled great all night, but with his first major almost in hand, he threw his worst ball of the day. I rooted for Prather, but I felt Sterner's pain too. Not everyone can step up and make that clutch shot. Clearly, the moment got to him.
It's much more common than you think. Watch more PBA bowling and you will see it. Anyone who plays very deep from the left gutter, with a big hook, has to make some form of drastic adjustment like this. I've seen quite a few pros do it. Watch Kyle Sherman, for example.
I just started bowling league for the first time a few months ago. My average is only a 118, but a few days ago I made a new high score of a 189, was so pumped after. Going from Pool to Bowling was pretty challenging but I love bowling now
It’s a big surprise when you think negative & it comes out positive because when you always think positive & push yourself you end up making mistakes. This is not just for bowling, this is for life & a lot of people take life as a game, most of the time it hurts & sometimes it pays off like it did here. Congratulations on the win but it’s not over….. yet.
I've been watching PBA since 2007/08. Dug through a couple of even olders shows. And this just is just better than all those. I actually don't give a flip about those silly things on TV in the past. I mean, some of the more "aggressive" guys on shows are definitely catching more people's attention to bowling. It's only good for exposure that's it. And I much prefer matches like these. No shits like "bottle bi***" and then missing easy spares. No "who do you think you are I am", but surgically remove splits one after another. Huge power and revs, trademark classy styles one after another. extreme high quality matches. It's just a wonderful display in all. Unfortunately, the nature of sports only allow one winner. Or else Jason sure earned it with the performance thoughout.
I was bowling on my league yesterday/last night fighting for first place while they were bowling for the cup 😂. I bowled a 169,211,212 for the 3 games then for the tie breaker I shot a 189 which I could have easily gotten another 200+ game but we had already won the tie breaker/roll off an we all just wanted to go home. I’ll be on TV soon an ive only been bowling for 2 and a half years 😂. Thanks to Belmo for inspiring me to start bowling. (Obviously I ain’t nothing compared to these bowlers BUT that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t be able to keep up with them on the lanes. I MAY NOT win BUT I think if I can bowl good enough to keep up with them then I’m going places 😂. Thx to Belmo for inspiring me to bowl as of rn im going places in a couple of years with this bowling career of mine.
21:55 When are they going to ban spitting/ licking your hands and rubbing it on the bottom of your shoes, f@cking up the approaches for the rest of us! PLUS VERY UNSANITARY, WHAT WAS ON THE BOTTOM OF YOUR SHOE, IS NOW ON YOUR HAND AND TONGUE 👅 🤢🤮 59:00 STOP !!
it reduces the slide on the bottom of his shoe and creates tackiness for his hand. It removes residue from his shoe and the lane. Hands are washed when finished. Lots of bowlers do the same thing. They're professionals, they know what they're doing.
You are not losing your touch when you lose with a 255 effort which includes solid pocket hits on his last 2 shots, a 10 pin and a 9. His 10 pin hit was a hair week, and the 9 pin hit a hair strong. There was no choke in the B Mo. Sterner was fabulous until he missed the head pin when it mattered most in the final. All his fault, he had it. He's really good. He will overcome the disappointing loss.
They're not cheater balls. They're only restricted from use in a small number of tournaments, perfectly fine in the PBA and literally everywhere else. Personally, I think USBC's reasoning is pretty dogshit. The hardness rule was created to stop people from soaking their ball back in the day to get the hardness down by like 20, not the fractions of difference they're caring about now. Also, those balls were perfectly fine before the USBC rule change that happened somewhat recently (they went from 72D hardness to 73D hardness being the minimum). A 1D difference in hardness is almost completely irrelevant. If those balls were showing up as 5D below the requirement, sure, but from what I understand, they're all within 1-1.5D of the minimum. Also, these balls were certified by USBC before, so they've only recently changed their mind on them. Not only that, but the USBC certification testing isn't really even that thorough. They test the balls prior to the manufacturer polishing them. Polish can change the hardness, so they should be testing at box finish. Any testing they've done since then, as I understand it, is done on balls that have been bowled on for a while, so of course they're going to be different. Pre-polish and post-play are such different scenarios, they ought to have different requirements for each situation.

We coached an army vet who was blind could only see in black n grey shadows into shooting 300. Keep going sir... and yeah you a bowler 😎
You're a legend
Beautiful story man!
Lost both hands; it sux …
This is one of the best televised tournaments I’ve ever watched
amazing performance from jason sterner honestly. Incredible consistency and simply putting it, he’s insanely good
Sterner is so good for the tour. Such an electric personality.
Great match Guys. There was no losers in this amazing game. This match was why the P.B.A. Bowlers are the Best in the World.
it was a fantastic performance by both Jason Sterner and Kris Prather
I was cheering for Sterner from the start, what a heart-breaking ending.

I've never seen anybody switch to a 3 step approach for 1 lane. That's impressive
I practice it every week, you never know when it will be useful.
@@travishanson166 its a great drill for keeping your timing good too

I believe Chris used this tactic also when he won his first championship.
Wow the nerves got to Sterner. Crazy.. Congrats to Prather
Belmo vs Sterner matches are always fun and entertaining
Sadness ensues 😭😭 wanted Sterner to win so bad. Congrats to Prather! Insane match to finish
Big congrats to prather. But let's not forget sterners 3 wins including one againts belmo with an amazing spare
the 1st, 2nd, and title matches of the Pba World Championship had fantastic finishes

Match 2 was INSANE
how about that spare shooting huh
that had to be the luckiest way ive seen anyone convert a 6 7 9 10. belmo did it his 3 4 10 perfectly though
congratulation prather..congratulation sterner..you both won this game
Have never seen so many split spare conversions!!!!
Sterner lost and won at the same time! What an entertaining 1 hour and 30 minutes!
Belmo is the Wonder from down under. God Bless
Congratulations Kris🥳🎉🎊
Want to know how you should release a bowling ball? Just watch Prather bowl. He has in my opinion the best release in professional bowling right now.
His release has always been super smooth, his dad is a great bowler as well. Happy Kris followed his dreams and is finding success
I love Jason Sterner representing Western New York baby!

This is the first time I have ever seen 2 pros have to do "sudden death" to resolve a tied game.
Hey....tenth frame of Sterner vs.Belmonte; they missed the PBR 6-pack !
Every time they get a six pack the bowler should go over to a fan and get a Pabst and pop it open and take a sip! haha
16:05 Randy explains axis tilt vs rotation ,enjoy!🙄
Sick intro
Have Prather and Belmo ever gone heads up for a championship final before?
34:15 Yeah Randy that plastic ball won't deflect!🙄
Right? I thought most people pick up the baby split like that, so getting the extra pin is barely any different.
08:15 Maybe you shouldn't explain things when the crowd is goin crazy and we can't hear you.

sterner had it easy! i was shocked when he beat belmo!!
Thanks
Jason Sterner is Marshall Teague's double. lolol.
Amazing match
Great finish.
What is up with the licking of the hand and wiping it on the bottom of his shoes..
LETS GO BELMO
27:36 --> Orange, New Thouth Wales
I am glad to see sterner beat belmo
I could take you, just promise to have another game like that one, lol
heard that thumb for the roll-off
Seriously PBA Bowling? 720p resolution?
it was broadcasted in 720p instead of 1080i
Jakob seems to always have an errant ball that results in a very difficult split winding up in an open frame.. 😤😤😤. Hope he does win this year tho’ …
Sterner defeated Belmo with a split coversion magic shot in frame#4
Does anyone realize the crowd sounds are fake?
Kinda like Friends or all the other shows like that, but cheers here keep repeating.
Я за Джейсона Бельмонте
Rest in the good news 💐🌑👍 Okay bye
The new USBC logo on the pins look so stupid
Rand being a narcissist and giving out wrong information. Oh Randy.
So damn stressful
The PBA has definitely cheapened up the trophies! I would hope being a major that trophy was real crystal but it looks like it is acrylic!
I'd rather have the money than the trophy.
Never seen someone so lucky as much as sterner was didn’t even deserve out of the second round
Butt turf.
Glad to see we’re getting back to real bowling with only one 2 handed bowler making the finals.
Not that two handed bowling isn't real bowling. It's just new.
Prather outbowled Sterner by a mile.
Not really, sterner was guaranteed a win with the strike in the 10th, prather was looking down knowing he was about to lose bc sterners been on fire
@@dustingarwood6180 that has nothing to do with Prather hitting the pocket more than Sterner... which he did.

Bowling would be dead if not for the two handed style injecting some life back into it.
one or two who cares he's got no class love it when he gets n beat
Someone is mad because he looses to two handers 🤣🤣🤣
I hope Jason Belmonty loses
Typical, hate on the best bc they always win

Prather is a crybaby. Sterner was the better bowler that day.
