I'm not sure if it's just my garden but I'm guessing your native flower bed may be Nigela heavy next year... I've found them to be a very prolific self seeder. You could be lucky with that late planting too. I'm sure my butternut pumpkin didn't really start till the end of Summer possibly even the start of Autumn and they then produced far more than we could tolerate (I gave away I think about 12). I think you could be alright removing your sweet peas... you could just put the plant matter on top of your compost heap that way the ladybirds still have access. That Amaranth looks lovely... I might have to add that to my garden. I surprised myself when I sat down and counted how many different veggies/fruits I'd managed to grow... it was far more than I had thought. I wasn't able to move a few fruit trees this year so I'm hoping I'll at least get a nice crop from them (Apricot and Peach... possibly a nectarine as well but it's never produced fruit... all grown from seed). I might be nearly as keen to see Melony grow to full size as you... she's far more advanced than any I've managed... I think I'll have to try growing directly in the greenhouse this year as well as the garden (might grow a few spares just in case too ;) ) I'm also looking forward to growing some sugar snap peas and snow peas :D
I hope it does all self seed! I love the nigella 🤞🏻 we need to get some more fruit trees - I’m thinking plum and cherry if we can find some dwarf varieties! Melanie is growing at a rate of knots I just hope she makes it to ripen! 🤞🏻😬
I think it’s a combination of very dry & clay soil - we have been watering pretty much every day it’s not rained but it’s tricky when you only have watering cans 😂🥲
@@HouseOfTedYT Here in Greece we've had temps round 43C. Scorching hot summer. For beginners Emma you're doing really well. Love your plot especially the flower beds.
Hi Emma and Sam, for your first year gardening on the allotment, O have to day you have done really well. I get very envious when you show your beetroot, I can never grow it. Tried many ways, but I wont give up. It doesnt bulb up for me for some reason.
Lots of leaf curl on your tomatoes. Be sure to keep them watered and fed. Tomatoes are heavy feeders. Well done on your plot.
They’ve been watered every day and fed once a week! We had a cold spell overnight las week so I’m thinking it might be that 🤞🏻
Try using the long gravel trays for the tomatoes they need lots of water maybe they’re drying out to quickly xx
That’s the plan for next year! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

The cracks in your soil indicate urgent need of water perhaps. The veg might perk up if they had more water. For a beginner you are doing really well.

I’m surprised how much I’ve liked the calendula at the plot as I’ve never grown it before! Happy gardening 🌻
