Brooklyn-by-way-of-Texas indie rockers Parquet Courts are blowing up in a big way, and we couldn't be more thrilled for the guys-even though bassist Sean Yeaton gave up his gig as editor of Motherboard to become a superstar (tough call, we know). We tagged along on their recent tour to document midnight desert peyote sessions and foreign language festival love. Here's a statement from director Andy Capper:
"When Sean Yeaton (bassist) quit his job to leave behind the safety of his desk for the wild life of a performing minstrel I decided to get a camera and follow him on the first three weeks of his new life.
We went from Mexico to Texas and London in a very short period of time. I love Sean and his band - Austin, Andrew and Max - and I hope that this is reflected in this short film that we made together."

One of the most perfect rock albums ever made.
it sure hits my sweet spot
Still listen regularly
real rock and roll kind of stuff
To this day!! Still perfect!!
This sucks so bad
fucking living life the way it should be :) having fun and enjoying the company of those amazingly amazing people around you.
they are right next to you, just reach out and say 'hi' :
we all want to have fun.
Andrew Savage is like a savant, he seems extremely intelligent and then to add to art, music, lyricism. It's like booksmart punk rock
and to pull it off without sounding lame or nerdy, they're the coolest
@@marcgallegos2239 they are one of the most enjoyable bands of the past decade definitely
So many years have passed since i've heard it for the first time but for surprising it may seem i still enjoy it as the same time before...that transition between the first and second track really lights up its refulgent gold, just magnificent
Imagine seeing these guys in Mexico before they blew up, lol.
I fucking knew it! They are fans of lsd!Love it.
"slackers conference at the buffet table" is too pavement
snackers* hence the buffet table
i kinda wish theyd let the live tracks play instead of overdubbing with the album version....:\
same that bothered me
Going into this documentary was that these guys were just a douchy new hipster band, and now I'm actually buying there fucking album. Thank you Vice for the introduction!
i died at cole from DIIV making out with sky outta nowhere at 10:25
Sky who ?
Really are the best band on the planet right now. Can't wait for Sunbathing Animal to drop.
Holy shit when hes talking on the phone his voice sounds exactly like thurston moores
just discovered them through a friend skating a few years back and theyre one of my favorites!
parequet courts rulllllllle
Amo esta banda, amé este documental ✨ espero volver a verlos pronto ❤️
I love the consideration for breakfast cereal characters! The cyborg squirrel from clusters was my favorite. He would help you get rid of your old flakes for some honey nut clusters. When I was a kid I got a small sample box of honey nut clusters in the mail and I knew I was interested, but when I realized that the honey nut cluster cyborg squirrel would help me get rid of my old flakes I was inspired to never eat another cereal, to stay loyal at all costs to the cyborg squirrel. Huge turning point in my childhood! Thanks Andrew for helping me remember how important that was for me.
ooh I was at the gig at the end, it was crap, band was great, they were playing support and nobody knew who they were, I had fun though, bopping along all on my own
That interviewer who was asked for her number on camera.... during an interview.... 100% took one for the team - 0% chance there was a callback.
This documentary taught me to like this band - thank you!
Do you still listen to them?
25:15 insert "Wide Awake"
also is that an American Specialties - Light Up Gold mashup right afterwards holy shit it's lit
search up their performance at lincoln hall if you wanna hear stoned and starving->the more it works->american specialties->light up gold ii in one go :)
@@BFDIFAN9001 thanks a gonna see
This is making me wanna ride the snake to the lake. I wouldn’t be able to hang with these guys though. Peyote? That’s out of my pay grade but I’d try it with them. I got to meet all four guys when they played a record store gig at Grimey’s Music in Nashville. They were super laid back. Max showed me his acrylic Ludwig drums.
I really like the live version of Stoned and Starving they do (here and elsewhere) where they meld it with a bit of American Specialities (not sure on the song) and into Light Up Gold.
Austin looks like a cross between Beck and Anders Holm
Yes
Goddamn Austin is a player
a really nice documentary,
yes!
sure is!
amazing
Yes.
Fiesta!
Very good music
mexican ladies love that smooth sound
aweeeesome
24:00 that's what good music feels like
what's the name of the band @ the 2:59 mark? Does anyone know? I'd be interested in checking them out.
an unexpectedly great album. Hopefully they can repeat with Sunbathing . the mexican girl in the car with the iphone... esta muy bonita
Does anyone the first band that plays the one with the guy wearing the sheet?
now thats a rocknroll documentary. if these guys ever make it big, this will be legendary. but thats how it works huh, ya aint cool, till ya cool
This is fucking perfect
Well made...congrats! Just discovered PC of late...kill rhythms and lyris.
3:48 it sounds like he's singing a song... like talk-singing haha
22:55- Kele Okereke from Bloc Party, not Wyclef
Parquet Courts are much better than the Strokes. The Strokes were one album. Parquet Court's discography is already substantially better.
Good point. I agree
5:29 Is that alex from milk music? to the left of andrew?
él es dios ! 🚀
I like this band alot but apparently I need to be trippin ballz to really appreciate them. not sure I'd be buying a dose in mexico though.
Fuck yes, Capper!
Kitty Pryde at 1:17?
2013: The Year Slacker-Punk Broke
uhh try like 1992 lol
'Slacker-Punk' must be the wankest name for a made up sub genre ever.
Austin is so fucking stoned.
i wanna see that spanish show interview
19:40 is that Devonte Hynes?
Soo fucking cool
They're cool people, no, you really are, cool people,
cool.
Not The Worst Music I've ever heard.
Alex Coxen from Milk Music in the crowd at 5:29
Barney from Fred
oh shit haha they dropped some peyote
4:59
Remind me of Camper Van Beethoven
Definitely a reasonable band
I was there
Lol
Was that sky ferreira? haha
yea I think so
It's scary how much the bassist sounds like Steve-O
why
Doe's anyone knows the band at : th-cam.com/video/MlW3WDEBELY/w-d-xo.html ?
Tweeted @musosguide
solange holding a neti-pot
Thank the lord big body bes would've startled the hell out of those old folks lol

Going into this documentary I thought that* (not sure how I fucked that shit up)

also, its horribly annoying to see video slowed to music. this is a tragic mistake
