Making Sulfuric Acid The Contact Process (GCSE Chemistry)

This video aimed at GCSE students, explains what happens in the three stages of the Contact process to manufacture sulfuric acid and how to write chemical and word equations to describe each stage. It also discusses the fact that stage two in this process is reversible and explains the choice of temperature and pressure when carrying out this stage. Finally the broad range of uses of sulfuric acid are discussed which include in the production of fertilisers, paints, dyes, fibres, plastics and detergents.
