around here everyone wants 1k for a factory roller block and a only couple hundred for a non roller, might as well get the non roller block and link bar lifters!
So if Im looking for a 351 roller block for my '92 GT the years I need to look for are '94-'97? And numbers to look for are F4TE? Is that the 1st 4 #'s on the roller blocks or just the '94 you had there Sir?
I sadly sold my brand new dart SHP 302 block years back. I regret it cause they are around $4,000 brand new now for a 302 SHP dart block. So I’m building a 351/408 looking for 800hp maybe a ysi or Novi 2000

That’s a power plant you don’t hear much of anything about anymore. I drove a 91/automatic company car that had been severely abused before I got it and abused it. Never gave me any problems and ran pretty good for its time. I thought the T-bird SC package was better engineered than anyone gives credit today.
@@sombra6153 I have a 1990 SC that I have raced for years. I got a set of rods and forged pistons from Dave for it. That engine has made thousands of drag strip passes and still runs great.
Hi Daddy Dan, more excellent information. Speaking of blocks, there is an R302 block, never built except for an Eagle forged 3.25 crank installed, line honed, has main studs, square decked, cylinders bored to 4.020. Price is 3K. What do you think? Thank you good fellow
I didn’t realize 351W roller blocks were worth so much. I guess we have Cash for Clunkers to thank. If that program which afflicted us almost 20 years ago is still creating problems, think of how EV rebate programs today are going to negatively affect us 20 years down the pike.
No 351w weren't used in every day vehicle passenger. They were only certain trucks etc. That program had nothing to do with it. Now Explorer 5.0's thats a different story.
@Neomustangs it's a video idea. For years everyone said BBF made it too nose heavy. But, adding all the piping, turbo, intercooler etc out in front of the front tires actually removes weight from the rear (cantilever).
Neostangs, i need help, i have a 1990 lx 5.0 and need and want more power. it's all stock except for a off road H-pipe, smog pump delete, A/C delete shorty headers, and some weight reduction of over 300lbs+ I have a bbk 65mm throttle body, gt40 cobra upper/lower intake and I have a set of gt40 non P heads i pulled off a 1997 ford explorer that had 275,000 miles on it, i know i need some machine work done to the heads and will have them hot tanked and have them replace the valve stem seals, i plan on using the factory HO cam i was wondering can the stock ford explorer gt40 valve springs and rocker arms handle a factory mustang HO cam, if not should i upgrade the springs and if i do what springs should i go with because i'm tired of these new coyote 5.0 mustangs, 392 chargers/challengers and SS camaros. Or should i go with plan B, which I'm 👁 eye ballling over at LMR that 361hp blueprint engine crate motor for $5799.99
Factory cam is a compromise with waaay too wide LSA 115.5. At least go to an E cam with 110 LSA and .498 lift. It works with those heads but put good springs on them anyway. E cam is worth 30/30 on your combo.
I am looking forward to the coil near plug. I do have some questions about throttle body spacers, I did not build this car I purchased and made some upgrades and terminator x and coil near plug and a 6 speed are on the short list.
Interesting video. You sure lucked into that aluminum block, even with the damage! I have been wondering about the new blocks that Blueprint are using. I know their main reason for making them is because the 351 cores are getting a little less available (I mean at a commercial engine remanufacturing production level) but wondered if they were anything approaching a Dart or Eagle level of strength. Or, are they just basically a stock block with 4 bolt mains?
Blueprint's blocks are a step up from OEM, but still not quite the full upgrade you'd get from Dart, Eagle, or World Products (Man O'War 351w). If you want no fuss turn-key with guarantee (you have to fight) for a cruiser or street rod, Blueprint is just right.
If you're going for big inch builds and big power, the heavier Dart blocks are worth every extra pound they add. Thicker casting, four bolt mains, you can punch them out to a 458 no problem; 460 if you give the sidewalls an extra tickle when boring, or you're generous when honing.

FYI, there is BAD info out there that Aluminum blocks are good for 2500hp... FALSE Aluminum "water" blocks are rated are rated for 1200 to1500 max HP HP ratings are also rated on what main caps they have/use, 4 bolt cast iron caps are rated safe for 700-750HP, billet steel caps can hold as high as 2500HP depending on block, IRON blocks are stronger than Aluminum. Only Billet Alum Blocks may be safe for 2500 hp
Thanks for the info. We did see this block make well over 2k to wheels from previous owner. We also have a dart that claims its only rated at 600! We all know thats not true!
the Dart block that is RATED by Dart for 600hp is a cast cap block with 2 bolt caps on front and back same as the old/new ford svo/boss blocks which some guys have had cap walk at 600hp, you can put big hp through any block, it does not mean it will stay together when its not rated for it. again, there is lots of bad info from some guys on the net

That is correct. 94-97. F4TE. Or you can use the older blocks but have to either machine the spider into it or use link bars

Great info! So the aluminum 351 weights about as much as an HO upper and lower intake 🙂
Dan, did you ever get that big block fox on the scales? I'm curious the difference between a big block and a 351 with a turbo for nose weight.
I have. Not
@Neomustangs it's a video idea. For years everyone said BBF made it too nose heavy. But, adding all the piping, turbo, intercooler etc out in front of the front tires actually removes weight from the rear (cantilever).
Small block fords are factory priority main oiling already.

For that kinda money just build a 351 stroker. 393 would be a good budget build. Could reuse stock rods and achieve yote N/A drop in power
