His voice has such a purity tone to it. No ones been able to do that. And that’s not even the whole song. The whole group was good but Micheal had that star quality.
Not just his voice. His swag and stage presence were unbelievable! My family that included my four sisters saw them live in Detroit in 1973. Their big hit at the time was "Dancing Machine". MJ was literally like bolts of lightning on the stage.
Hi, I've been a MJ fan all my life I'm 60 yrs old, that Ed Sullivan performance was incredible. But to hear Michael's best voice range. Got To Be There, listen to that song real good and see what I mean my friend. I'm happy to know that there are still j5 fans out there. Long live the king. Michael Fortes
It’s funny seeing the amazement of young people seeing for the first time something that happened fifty-two years ago. Michael Jackson and his brothers were that special.
During his memorial, Smokey Robinson who wrote this song said he sang the song like a MAN whose lived the blues his whole life. He said you have to KNOW something in order to sing that way. He was an old soul.
He was 11, show’s from December 14, 1969. And yes, this is the reason he kept saying he never had a childhood. He was insanely talented, an old soul in a child’s body. There’ll never be another like him. I’ve kept coming back to this performance since I first heard it a long, long time ago (he’s just a bit older than me), and I’ll never tire of it. Thank you for this wonderful reaction, I look forward to your other Michael Jackson ones.
11 yrs old. I was like a year younger than MJ. One o my best friend’s cousin wrote me a love letter, not really mooshy, just askin if she could be my girl. 😂. Yo, I had absolutely zero idea what to do about it. Anyway, this performance was part of a medley of songs the brothers did. I think they had done short versions of 2 others before this one, which was also unfortunately cut short. You hav to hear when he starts the 2nd verse like, ‘I…I…I….I….’ , you hear the James Brown influence big time. The thing about Michael was how like you mentioned, so many elements seemed to come together: vocal power, passion, charisma…..& damn it, what this boy know about somebody else Lovin his girl, like he been there. ‘A dig it now! Oh yeaahhh! ‘. Would highly recommend Spike Lee documentary called Michael Jackson’s Journey from Motown to Off The Wall. 👍🏾
Thank you for giving credit to all the Jacksons! when it comes to the Jackson 5 people over look the brothers and focus more on Michael which is always sad to me
This little boy had to carry the Jackson 5 and the Jackson's. yes his brothers had a lot of talent however Joe Jackson his father and everyone knew that without little Michael The Jackson 5 would not have existed. when Michael went solo the Jacksons as they were known later when they changed the record label, fell apart because Michael was the frontman and Michael was the major Talent. Imagine the pressure he had his entire life or at least his childhood and young adulthood to carry such a responsibility and the pressure.
Checking out some of your past reactions!! I was a big Osmond fan & they were all good friends with the Jackson 5 family. Each family had 9 kids, too! 💪💪Osmonds’ song ONE BAD APPLE was first offered to the Jackson’s but they turned it down! They did ABC instead!! 🎶 Little Michael is so cute!! 🥰 🥰 I remember watching the Jackson 5 on American Bandstand!⭐️⭐️
Yes! Jackson 5 ,Michael Jackson, Janet J, Rebbie J, La Toya J all Jackson brothers are talented ..and also listen to Paris Jackson M.J girl ..she is so talented to, his nephews 3 T also ..so on 🥰👍🇷🇴🤴😢 r.i.p M.J
It's funny you talking about MJ singing about love and girls at that age because in an interview Michael Jackson said that that always embarrassed him and he hated it.
I'm sorry, but does anyone ever listen to the playback on their own posted videos? There is a lot if this, so I have to mention cuz it drives me crazy! Plz adjust the sounds. You can barely hear the music video, but you responding to video is much much louder. If we have to turn up music video to hear it, you can imagine how you sound when you talk! Its cringing!! Just listen back and you'll hear what I'm talking about. Just an FYI. I could not listen to it because of this. Hope you correct it. Thx.
I don't think there will be another child as talented and soul as Michael.
Michael jackson in general 💯😉✌
I'd gladly accept any aged Mike-Alike! He owns it, like his former father-in-law...the Kings.
I watched this when it originally was broadcast! That is when I first became a MJ fan‼️🎶✌️
If only I could have a grandmother like you.. (I'm only 16 years old) 😅
And the cartoon

Hollywood been looking for another young MJ for over 50 years now. MJ was just one of a kind. A rare talent

It's not just his voice but his dancing the way he stands and overall stage presence now that is what a true artist should be.
The GOAT 💯👌🔥👑🎩
Michael was a phenomenon.....never will there be another ❗️❗️ EVER 💯❤️
I remember this. I'm his age. Whole family gathered around the T.V.. My dad was a singer and was blown away like the rest of us.

But when he recorded the song, he was 10 years old.
Yeah, he was a couple of months past his 11th birthday for this performance. Ridiculousness!

FanFact: MJ cantou ao vivo! os irmãos cantaram com playback, mas ele Não!
Who are what can beat MJ singing this song. ❤❤
I was 8, 9 when Jackson Five hit the big time. My best friend and I bought their music and just danced and danced and danced

En vogue did this song as an intro to their song "hold on"
He was simply the best. Amazing voice. I love Michael.

Michael was the only reason that the Jackson five got famous
beautiful
Mj forever
He was 11 when they first appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show
Michael and his brothers are nothing without each other. Michael just happen to be a genius on his own.

Before becoming the king of Pop....MJ was the kid of Pop

This was Smokey Robinson's song that Michael took over. LOL
He was 9 years young.
