Socialism will always fail because it relies too heavily on foreign aid and natural resources, which we all know don't last forever. Socialism is opposed to innovation, because innovation would mean liberalizing and opening up the economy, i.e. capitalism or free market economics. I'm not saying capitalism is the greatest system of all time, but the thing about capitalism and western democracy is that you can continue to change the system to be better and more inclusive, while at the same time maintaining a free and open economy and sustainable living standards. Radical or extreme ideologies such as Socialism, Fascism, and Islamic fundamentalism are about resisting change, which is why they always fail in the end. I hope Venezuela will soon have a new government that cares more about the people than they do about power.
I didn't hear much mentioned about US sanctions imposed to cripple this countries economy or the $billions owed by the US but frozen or the $billions of gold held by the US and UK they refuse to return, or the restrictions of this country to trade with others for food or drugs for its people or those countries will also suffer sanctions. Or the US restrictions preventing them from using their greatest asset in oil
you gotta love how communist love equality. everybody poor. I'm Dominican and 30 years old and my whole life growing up Venezuela stood as a Latin American potency and icon of civilization with movies, tv shows, telenovelas that played all over the continent, and look at it now..... such a shame.
I am from Trinada and Todago and i lived in Caracas Venezuela in the late 80s as a child and it was awesome! It's hard for me to see this haveing family and friends there!
Hi I´m from Spain in the 70`s and early 80`s a neighbour lived and worked in Venezuela for a Spanish Construction Company (Dragados y Construcciones), he told us that Venezuela used to be a prosperous country at that time, it´s hard and sad to realize the poverty and misery people from Venezuela are going through, it´s very sad my friend
John Walker Chavez’s bad policies are the reason why the country failed, socialist policies to be exact. He failed to diversify the economy and depended on oil, he acted as if oil prices would stay high forever, that’s simply not the case. Not to mention, he overspent and did not save a penny. All the income from the PDVSA went straight to government expenditures, barely any went back to PDVSA upkeep and surely none went into savings for the future or even investments. This killed all chance of the government having backup money in the future for when an economic crash happens, which led to them overprinting their currency. Chavez destroyed the free market in Venezuela and went on a nationalization streak. He basically had an official or de-facto government monopoly in nearly every industry, which he made possible through outright nationalization, and threatening companies with nationalization / pressuring them into working with the government. The tax code was fucked too, which led to Venezuela becoming one of the WORST places in the world to do business (look it up, Venezuela is near rock bottom in business freedom and investment). The worst of all is that Chavez expropriated tons of land and gave it to peasants who don’t know what they’re doing when it comes to farming on a mass scale. Chavez setup the crisis that is happening in Venezuela right now. That is 100% undeniable. The only reason why he wasn’t thrown out in the early 2000’s was due to high oil prices allowing him to fulfil his left-wing populist agenda.
@@lucianraphael9527 Some good points. All correct. Why keep sanctioning them though? It's just making it worse for the population. No regime change. Either invade them and dispose of the government as that always works...or just let them be and one day the populace may rise.
Pablo......Yep..In the case of venezuela it is probably a combination of incapable government in combination with very selfserving, leaders, in a cvilized community , government should only provide in basic social benefits for the economic marginalized, like basic medical care, and basic educational care...
Chavez was a moron this isn't mainly to do with socialism or capitalism. He drove away business and made his country more dependent on oil, oil that wasn't being sold to the US. Wonderful plan!
Venezuela is a case of the Globalists sanctions and a president, Maduro who is shy and afraid to take the globalist full on. If you must challenge the globalist, you must do so without holding back like Chavez did,Castro did and Putin did. Maduro is stuck in the middle - wanting to negotiate with the Globalist and wanting to oppose them. Globalists dont negotiate, when they come for you, they do so with everything they've got.
gerald geaf, The shit started under Chavez not Maduro, Maduro is the escape goat. Chavez was full on stupid and greedy. Check out how much money his favorite daughter has now. Chavez wanted too much for his oil and spoke out against the US, pretty smart moves!
For one, Sanders doesn't want to turn the US exactly into Venezuela. He wants to improve social programs that have been deteriorating in the past decades, because you just can't have a purely capitalist society just like you can't have a purely socialist one. In an ideal society, corporations would flourish while at the same time its citizens would enjoy fair benefits and better safety net. And two, "Chavez destroyed the market economy, leaving the country entirely dependent on oil." The country was run to the ground by incompetent officials who only relied on a volatile resource to fund a purely socialist government. But of course, "Venezuela is feeling the Bern" is all an idiot can muster up.
But Bernie Sanders has lectured about the great Socialist state like Venenezuela in the past before the collapse. Let's see what Bernie says about Venezuela now. lol
that is only because, "At the same time, private food processing and importing corporations have launched a coordinated campaign of sabotage." Read this: www.mintpressnews.com/us-led-economic-war-not-socialism-tearing-venezuela-apart/218335/
Sabotage? Who do you think "sabotaged" the Venezuelan currency printer, quadrupling the money supply, and causing 800% hyperinflation? I KNOW you wont answer. and We all know why.
The oil industry and all the national natural resources were nationalised in May 1 1977 by the then very pro USA goverments so stop meddling in our country writing pure ignorant stuff!!! Grow up and get busy and stop watching tv mate, blessings
William I know you are trying to copy another socialist from the 30's, but please stop - You can't make this lie bigger than the facts this time mate..
InterloperS91 you always lick and choose . Why don't you say go to Ecuador? go to Denmark ? go to Bolivia? go to Iceland?Sweden? Uruguay? always pick what goes wrong ...typical
Nicolas La Torre you don't know what socialism is, you idiot. Those countries have social democratic policies, not socialist ones. But hey, if it helps you sleep better at night, keep calling them what they aren't
Europe seems to be doing ok, it has social spending programs that make it socialist compared to everywhere else in the world - how come the standard of living is so high then?
+Parasmunt Becouse it's not socialist, it's plenty of private buissines in Europe. In socialist countrie you go in jail for owning buissines. Private propperty is eather strictly limited or banned.
With all due respect, I have to disagree with her saying "what we are seeing in The United States is very similar to what we saw in Venezuela at the end of the last century." She should only compare socialist countries to other socialist countries. We've got our problems in the US, its nothing like Venezuela
ItzAndre why should he leave? he was elected by a clear majority. the sanctions are criminal: they are killing people through lack of medicine, hospitals without electricity and basic supplies.
elmers balm The sanctions aren’t affecting electricity you Mong. That’s impossible. The hospitals don’t have basic supplies because the Venezuelan government is BROKE. They have defunded programs and they printed their currency into a hyper inflationary state. They also refused medical aid from foreign organizations. Don’t use sanctions as an excuse, you know it’s bullshit Edit: He was elected with a “clear majority” in an election with severely depressed turnout. The turnout of the 2018 election was below 25%. Most of his opposition were either banned from Running, fled the country due to government pressure or were jailed. He also uses the constituent assembly (a sham legislature) to push through laws. He threw out the National Assembly after the opposition nearly had a super majority. Maduro is anti-democratic in all sense of the word.
"under "populist presidents" it's blown the lot (of oil wealth.)" -Yes. because populism and bad economic policy go hand in hand. (sarcasm.) It's not that the presidents were socialist, even though socialism and communism constantly result in poverty (without exception.) It's that they were "populist." Why the subtle propaganda? Yes.. populism had its issues.. but economic policy is not one of them. You could have just said socialist.
A country doesn't go bust by putting in some sports equipment or installing concrete steps in place of dust tracks. It was the nationalisation of industry and removal of foreign owned companies that left them wholly dependent on oil. Who would set up a business here that would employ people?
"We have abundant resources, the most beautiful scenery on the planet, and more oil reserves than almost any other nation. We could be the most successful country on earth! Now, let's just add a little socialis ... AH DAMMIT."
Luka Preradović Venezuela is 100% socialist, it is a perfect example of socialism. they still have oil. the gov. is too in-efficent to get it to market in a reasonable manner. which causes prices to rise
too bad venezuela is a socialist country, being a monoproductive country doesn't entail a lack of socialism, but rather the conditions that govern the relations of production, economic policy and resource allocation is decided by a small government elite - socialism a la carte- the bourgeois devices known as the separations of powers are eroded in venezuela - no more bourgeois platforms-
Stop watching tv bro. Why do you think favelas exist in ALL Latin America INCLUDING Venezuela since DECADES? Tell me......I wait your brainwashed answer from a cosy sofa somewhere with house heating and all the shit you take for granted!!! Lumpen comments are like flowers this days. Get busy, go read some books and remember history exist!!!!
The oil industry and all the national natural resources were nationalised in May 1 1977 by the then very pro USA goverments so stop meddling in our country writing pure ignorant stuff!!! Grow up and get busy and stop watching tv mate, blessings
Socialism isn't the major issue here, its corruption and over reliance on oil. You can have successful socialism as long as there is little corruption, private companies are not taken over by the government and the economy doesn't rely only on oil.
brayo144 Well, let's take aside the economic woes of the country. It now has revoked elections, consolidation of political branches and emprisonnement of opposition political parties over bogus claims. Is this true leadership of a socialist government ? Does a socialist ideology even accept an alternance of party ? No it doesn't. The difference with a free market democracy is that, under a socialist system, when a government screws up, it doesn't get replaced. The planned economy has never worked, one really needs to be fanatic to not accept it and adapt capitalism instead.
Taura Helms Aye, he left a mess in Guatemala, Honduras and all the other "capitalist" countries in Latin America walking all the way to the USA for generations! Nah, you're rather lumpen yourself!
Nearly four years later, it's hard to see any similarity between Trump's America and Venezuela, as alleged by the professor. Economically, America did quite well under Trump. Nor did he take away people's freedoms like socialist dictators do.
They do! US presidents abd CIA were the main supporters of the Right Wing Dictatorships that once plagued Latin America. Like Videla in Argentina, Pinochet in Chile, the Brazilian military rule etc. I don't think also that storming the Capitol is a example of a "Democratic" leadership. Actually Trump is also behind what is happening in Venezuela. US led embargoes make impossible Venezuela import anything it needs and can't produce themselves. Chavez is also to blame for not making the economy more diversified. But the USA is the Big Satan behind all those people suffering. You should feel shame for being a Yankee!
America did well under trump because of the incredible surplus and plans left in place by Barack Obama. Funny how people seem to either ignore or forget that.
Maduro failed, but the opposition is made up of people who want to enforce the old pro-capitalist politics of the pre-Chavez era. The reason Venezuela is now a failed state has nothing to do with socialism. Because socialism was never build. No matter what Chavez or Maduro said, their nation was and remains capitalistic. The power of the (bureaucratic) state has increased and many social projects ended absolute poverty. But the essence of Venezuela was still capitalism with a lot of government regulation. That has now failed as the oil prices dropped and the government ran out of money. President Maduro is running out of time and therefore he becomes authoritarian and fearful. Because the icon Hugo Chavez is death and he has not idea how to move beyond the capitalist system.
Damn, I feel for that family at 9:45 . They sound like good people working hard and yet barely affording food. And that's assuming they're physically healthy.
This is exactly how Russia looked like in 90s after the overnight transition from communism to capitalism. Nobody blamed capitalism for that, but everybody blame socialism for the venezuelan crisis. It's NOT capitalism or socialism to blame. It's sudden economic transition, corruption and inefficiency to blame.
here is a list of capitalist countries in the area: Jamaica, Haiti, Salvador. I don't think capitalism borught prosperity to those country. Also, FYI, China is a ploutocracy, its not communist for 30 years anymore. Socialism with free market did great in Europe (Id say mixed economy). Its a matter of market regulation. pure capitalism is a dystopian nightmare and create about as much poverty as communism. And WAYYYY WAYYY WAYYY more crime.
You think USA have a high standar of living. I say USA do good at getting super rich people richer. And terrible at saving Detroit. A good quarter of US people live in a de facto third world country with limited sanitation, security, healthcare education and work regulation. If you want a society to be more equalitarian, even if you are a capitalist you will have to get a couple socialist ideas (healthcare for exemple) running. What you need is GOVERNEMENT control over business and practices with law. PURe theorical non governement, non taxes capitalism is fascist by essence.
Oh no but it’s not Chavez fault. This is all America imperialism fault. In my opinion it Seems that imperialism has actually helped South Korea, Japan, and Germany
Nightster Which empire fell? The US or Soviet a Union? The Soviet Union was doing the same thing you accuse of America of. Even with the sanctions of America against the Soviet Union it wasn’t enough to change given the fact that the Soviet Union has the same power the US had. There’s a reason why China a communist country decided to accept capitalism as well as India.
Like what has happened in some countries lately, when poorly educated people are the majority voters, bad choses are often made politically. They tend to choose Charismatic Leaders who have fuzzy ideas and concepts.
amazing to see so many comments downplaying the system of socialism but not take into consideration what it has done for the population on the positive side.
Mike Vincent well I suppose watching their stupid supporters get thrown into poverty tier neighborhood and get abused/murdered is pretty amusing considering they wanted it, so yes. Also hyper inflation was a major step we thought never could happen.
Those who ignorantly try and blast socialism as bad generally are VERY uneducated about economics and political policies...the USA is supposed to be some sort of bastion of perfection and yet we have people starving and dying in the streets while the elites live it up and most of our roads and highways are crumbling and infrastructure crumbles under our feet...sadly we will continue to be some even more divided than ever before which clearly shows that things are getting worse in USA...
+ITHEREONETHATHASNT calm down...I have been to Asia, central and South America so I am very familiar with poverty but I also live in an American city FILLED with poverty so stop your BS and get off your fake soapbox and stop watching TV and go see poverty yourself.
+ITHEREONETHATHASNT Watching National Geographic from your Moms basement doesn't make you a world traveler...perhaps ask your Mom if you could borrow her car and go to Detroit or Baltimore and see what poverty in a rich country looks like...also, please stop worshipping your TV and get a clue...what a sad ndividual you are!!!!
25:30 : The irony of the liberal message and the failed state of socialism in Venezuela. America is a much different place than any Latin American country. Obama and populism went together the same with Trump but that wasn't mentioned. The difference between Trump and Obama is obviously Obama's socialism.
I didn't hear much mentioned about US sanctions imposed to cripple this countries economy or the $billions owed by the US but frozen or the $billions of gold held by the US and UK they refuse to return, or the restrictions of this country to trade with others for food or drugs for its people or those countries will also suffer sanctions. if the government is working with a socio-economic system that does not match the rest of the continent what do you expect? you think if Maduro ran real elections and the people chose the leader they want and the system changes those sanctions are going to stay in place? this is not the US' fault, Venezuela has to revolt and get them out.
Everyone blames Socialism in Venezuela but I don't believe socialism alone is the cause of its woes. Norway has a strong government intervention and lots of oil but has not ended up like Venezuela and has one of the highest living standards in the world. Rather the structure of the Venezuelan economy was an extractive economy where everything is dependent on the price of oil. Its just for them to have a sustainable economy, the price of the oil would have to be $250 a barrel. If you are going to blame Socialism on anything, it would be that the government was responsible for failing to diverse the economy. Note there are capitalist economies (Saudi Arabia, Russia, Nigeria) that may go the exact same way as Venezuela because of their high oil dependency.
I am sure it has nothing to do with the massive sanctions placed on them by various capitalist nations. Millions died in communist China because capitalist nation cut off all intl trade to China at a time when they needed massive amounts of imports. Other forms of economies might not be viable either, but to think they have had a legitimate chance to try is absurd.
Um. No. Millions died in communist China all thanks to Mao's oh-so typically communist policies. The capitalist nations of the day didn't Mao or communist China anything.
it´s hard to believe but believe me, a neighbour of us lived in Venezuela in the 70s he told us that Venezuela used to be a prosperous nation with a driving economy, this guy worked for a construction company in Venezuela. Socialism failed everywhere.
Venezuela is not failing because populism is bad. Populist Chavism was praised by the Left for over a decade. If you will note, Venezuela is a failed state because the largest oil reserves in the world are controlled by a bus driver who happens to be a nincompoop with a massive police force. All of this "comparison" to Trumpism in the United States is intellectually lazy. The reason populism has always been denounced throughout history is because populism is anti-establishment and the people who analyze politics for a living (college professors mostly) stick to the script.
There is one big difference between this socialism and democratic socialism. This is so misleading! Bernie wants democratic socialism, which means we will VOTE for all this poverty. XD
I GUARANTEE before the debauched currency, the wealthy were tipped off to exchange currency and stay at a hotel in Rio till the U.S. army "brings democracy " to Venezuela, just like in Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya, and soon to be Iran/Venezuela.And when sanctions are lifted when the population is on its knees, they can go back to plain poverty instead of extreme poverty. But they can kiss the social assistance programs(education medical, free food, infrastructure ect) goodbye and go to IMF osterity programs
It's surprising that this documentary is almost identical as another documentary from the BBC called "What's going on in Venezuela". Sequence by sequence, the same places, the same interviewees.
The main reason for Venezuela's condition is America's interference there. Anyone who disagrees is not properly informed. With that said, what's America's excuse for being a failed state? My answer is capitalism and greed!!
what parallel universe are living in america is not failed state and Venezuela was collapsing before the sanctions literally every time something goes wrong with dictatorships in this part of the world they blame the CIA
All the Trump people here are trying to diss off Sanders by using this video, but they ignore the last 2-3 minutes where that historian literally disses Trump.
I live in Venezuela and I am doing just fine. I have never stood in line for food or other products. I have everything and more than I need. I still prefer this Venezuela to the old Venezuela any day. I have been here for 32 years. I live on the Island of Margarita 50 metres from Playa El Agua. I shop at Sigo Supermarket in Pampatar and I shop just as I would as Sainsburys, ASDA or Tesco. More than 90 per cent of businesses are PRIVATELY owned in Venezuela which makes Venezuela a capitalist country with socialist programs. Simple.
Why are Venezuelans complaining? They should be happy. Venezuelans asked for socialism and Venezuelans got socialism. This is socialism at best. We can give you Berney Sanders as that is all you are missing.
The problem with distributing hand outs to poor people is that when you return the next time, you find they haven't produced and thing and want more hand outs.
If tomorrow Venezuelan government were to offer free everything, the very same people will have a different story. There is nothing called free lunches.
This will serve a lesson to other countries who have large deposits of oil wealth not to depend only on oil revenue they need to find other alternatives to supplement their economy because the price of oil doesn t stay always the same and one day it will run out or a new cheap energy will be invented.
mario rico Maybe next time take the revenue earned off oil and maybe invest in factories to produce ur own goods so u don't have to import goods... Ur economy collapsed because of greed and the thought oil markets would stay the same forever
This documentary is loaded, this didn’t happen because of socialism it happened because the economy was based on oil exports and the price of oil fell.
And that was while the government seized and shut down the private sector ensuring that Venezuela will be a one-trick pony economy dependent on oil which they even ran into the ground. This is because of socialism.
No mention of US and western countries sanctions and the threat of sanctions to other countries if they trade with them. Also the $billions in gold held by the US, Britain and other countries.
"Nappies" these guys are spoiled! I was born in the 80's and my mother used cloth nappies for me. She bleached them and dried them in the sun. I'm sure they have plenty of bleach and sun there. They should rearrange their priorities. Did you see the sweet gear they are walking around in? Though I wish them all the best.
Can't believe people can't read between the lines and see the lies. Why would you cut production of oil if it is your main income? If the oil prices lower, you increase production and sell more. I want to buy oil and if someone wants to sell for less, I would buy more. I can store oil because it is not going to rot away. All stock markets are privately owned and work together. All world electronic financial transactions are done on a single system. Who created and runs the system? All the transactions transfer and are done in US funds. Private individuals create an entry on a ledger and make money out of thin air and give it to GOVERNMENTS for interest. A giant ponzi scheme.
Travos Ymir How can u sell it if nobody wants to buy it.. they should have invested revenue made from oil on producing goods that would help there citizens
More oil than Saudi Arabia and people are standing in line for flour packets -- That's pretty much what I thought was going to happen. Socialism: Where's the fuckin' money?
I am responding to the title only. Venezuela has made some poor choices and I would not defend Maduro. However, would it be possible for Venezuela to be in a better position had they not had sanctions depriving them of much need money owed them? Of course the United States are a bunch of angels in this. Trump went to the UN and proudly claimed we believe in others sovereignty. What a joke. We have undermined and overthrown countries throughout the world. In 2014 a Gallop poll asked a simple question: "Who is the greatest threat to world peace?" Overwhelmingly the United States is thought by people around the world to threaten peace. Take the sanctions away form Venezuela and return to considerable amount of money we have blocked and then see how they do. And for the starving in the streets just maybe we can take some credit too.
90 years of capitalism and 19 years of socialism.. there are the results..... social inequality at its maximum.... We need a STRONG STATE (government) and Nationalists Billionaires to work together hand to hand for the proper of the proletarians!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The problem here in SA = South America, the politics aways become populist, liberal (because the new generation are such ppl) and socialism/dictatorship (when they are in power). They come like ''i'm our savior, will help the country to grown economic blah blah blah''. They come with populism, with so many social programs (who dont help annything, just put a wall in ur brain and vision to help ppl, and the no-brains start call him good) All the SA countrys are doomed, the only few who resist are Brazil, Chile and Uruguai. Chile stated chaos in the street in the last year for the such politics. Argentina become a ''such place'' ruled by Kirchner and she back again with Fernandez, bcs the new generation mind are full populist and liberal. Brazil ruled 15 or more years with only one big party (PT) and grown in nothing, just in liberalism. Since 2005, Brasil ppl only guns and in a such big country the guns dead per year was such about 5k per year, now, look nowadays... 70k die per year. The rules in Brazil just help criminals. The government made nothing to change it, bcs 90% are corrupt ones, who dont make power laws bcs they can get trapped by one... Populism and Liberalism are good, but like medicine, the amount you get will determine if it will be good or not.
it depends on how you use politics to set up economies Canada and the us economy are mixed economies as they have free market but also government controlled firms Chavez essentially turned his country into a economically unstable dictatorship as one does that fails because they always have
Well atleast they are equally poor now. I'm poor in my country but I'm a Trillionair there. I recommend not trading capitalism for socialism but you do need universal health care and worker protection.

it has failed, but it will come back again and again, until they fail by themselves without interference from external actors. and by that time the question is going to be: would they fail without interference?
I like how Trump is still the bad guy when socialism was the driver of the failed economy.
thinkingman07 cuz they are retarded .just ask them to explain themselves and it's the end of the convo
Yes, a more equal society, one in which virtually everyone is poor.

Venezuela not only feel the Bern but the Growl in their stomach! LOL
It was a failed state even during Chavez's time. The high price of oil kept it afloat.
Noam Chomsky, Michael Moore, Oliver Stone and all the Venezuelan fan boys have gone quiet

InterloperS91 If they go to Venezuela they will no longer have money to take a plane out of it hahaha
THIS VIDEO IS OLD!
Venezuela is a hell now. Millions starving in the streets for the past year.
This comment is old! It is becoming increasingly clear that the economic siege imposed by the US is biggest source of instability the country.
Don’t use sanctions as an excuse, you know it’s bullshit
Edit: He was elected with a “clear majority” in an election with severely depressed turnout. The turnout of the 2018 election was below 25%. Most of his opposition were either banned from
Running, fled the country due to government pressure or were jailed. He also uses the constituent assembly (a sham legislature) to push through laws. He threw out the National Assembly after the opposition nearly had a super majority. Maduro is anti-democratic in all sense of the word.

Visited Venezuela a few times in 1990s....so sorry to see what has happened to this beautiful country since that.
"under "populist presidents" it's blown the lot (of oil wealth.)"
-Yes. because populism and bad economic policy go hand in hand.
Who would set up a business here that would employ people?
it turns out Chavez nor Maduro listened to their economists

Socialism isn't the major issue here, its corruption and over reliance on oil. You can have successful socialism as long as there is little corruption, private companies are not taken over by the government and the economy doesn't rely only on oil.
Socialism and corruption go hand in hand you naïve fool.
brayo144 Well, let's take aside the economic woes of the country.
Marutan Ray Socialism and Communism always fails. Karl Marx was a fool.
1. If you have private companies - that's socialism. 2. Socialism is imposible without corruption.
brayo144 How can u people really be this stupid
Chavez left a mess that others have to clean up and it is sad.
Taura Helms Aye, he left a mess in Guatemala, Honduras and all the other "capitalist" countries in Latin America walking all the way to the USA for generations!
Nah, you're rather lumpen yourself!
Taura Helms Yep he got lucky with oil prices and Madura didn’t!!
Wrong Venezuela was a mess before Chavez that's y he became president in 98...
LOL. Venezuela is functionally socialist as there is hardly much free market economy left.
I want to hear from the Chavistas how they feel when Chavez removed term limits, disarmed the population and failed to diversify the economy.
This is exactly how Russia looked like in 90s after the overnight transition from communism to capitalism. Nobody blamed capitalism for that, but everybody blame socialism for the venezuelan crisis. Capitalism will always win
Are you saying because it's the best, or because people will always choose it?
Not necessarily. I believe that pure capitalism will win against pure socialism, but moderatism between the 2 is the strong model
Win what? Who get to pollute most? Whose country got bigger crime rate? Who get the most diabete? Capitalism will win WHAT exactly?
here is a list of capitalist countries in the area: Jamaica, Haiti, Salvador.

25:30 : The irony of the liberal message and the failed state of socialism in Venezuela. America is a much different place than any Latin American country. Obama and populism went together the same with Trump but that wasn't mentioned. The difference between Trump and Obama is obviously Obama's socialism.

if the government is working with a socio-economic system that does not match the rest of the continent what do you expect? you think if Maduro ran real elections and the people chose the leader they want and the system changes those sanctions are going to stay in place? this is not the US' fault, Venezuela has to revolt and get them out.
To get some those sanctions lifted Maduro can stop trafficking drugs. That would be a good start.

In socialism , the rich will be poorer , but the poor will also be poorer
At 1:53 that woman was telling you to call her. LOL.
Norway is social corporatist, not socialist
XD
Democratic socialism is exactly what got Venezuela into this mess.
Don't under-estimate U.S.A's interventionism in geo-politics.
My answer is capitalism and greed!!
what parallel universe are living in america is not failed state and Venezuela was collapsing before the sanctions literally every time something goes wrong with dictatorships in this part of the world they blame the CIA

they cant buy food but wait in line for hours to buy nappies? throw away nappies are not indispensable for poor families.this is weird.
I was struck by that one too. Could be that the nappies were given away and if it's free you want 'em.?
yes, maybe they are used to getting getting these items free. so women are killing time waiting in lines every day for different items.
They show us the failures of socialism but they don't show us the success of capitalism.
