    Hey guys! I have more info, (of course! Lol) I use codes and abbreviations in my dayminder. Would you be interested in seeing a short video on that? This one just got really long & I didn't want to drag it out too much for you.

      Bridal Sewing Techniques I love this style. I have been doing something close but not to the organized point of this and I need all of the hourly todo to keep me on track. Sometimes my ADHD takes control and I have appts and due dates all over the place. I am like you though. I am electronic at everything except my calendar. I still like to have s paper version to look st and touch. Just works better. As always you can never have too much information. I’m always up for what you want to share. I appreciate all you do !!

      I also always say, I have never, (thank God) lost my dayminder, but I have accidentally deleted stuff. Soooo, paper wins for me! :)

    I flippin' love you. Lol! Just saw the printing part.
    Seriously, this has really helped a lot! All of the videos in this section have been my go to. I accepted wedding jobs from 2 people that seemed totally manageable. But I'm still doing my regular sewing jobs and I'm used to a particular schedule. I didn't realize what it would be like trying to fit and appointments being postponed. I've been arranging myself around one person in particular. And I charged her according to her budget because we're friends. It set me back 3 weeks already. Omg! I'm doing this book!
    Thanks so very much for making these valuable videos! 🤗

    It's so confirming to know I am not the only person that still keeps a paper calander. THANK YOU. The time blocking is so specific and awesome. You are so knowledgeable and I will for sure print and use.

    Hey lady. I just want to say this is my first time watching this video and OMGGGG…. It’s where I should’ve started. Such organization. I can’t tell you how chaotic I have been making my schedule. Letting the job or the clients request run me. 😳 Not sure if I will get that printing correct but I will try… maybe there is hope for the burnout I’ve been putting myself through

    This is great info. I use a monthly planner and use some methods and notations i learned doing fitting and pricing at a bridal shop and combine it with my personal schedule. The most important thing is to know how long each alt should take and how long a typical fitting takes. Then decide how many hours a day or week you want to work. I err on the low side because some alts take longer than you think they will and this thing called life happens also. So as I’m talking with the bride to schedule her i ask enough questions and have her text me a pic of the gown. This gives me a good idea of how much time it will take. I also talk with other seamstresses in my area and we compare our pricing. I schedule 2 maybe 3 months out and not too heavy so i can fit in last minute brides. And i mark those fittings with a star. Then at the fitting the bride and i agree on a pick up day and time or a second fitting. I put that on my calendar and mark it with a tiny red dot. Usually 2-3 weeks later. When i finish the gown i mark my calendar at the red dot “done”. Im sorry this is so long . Im glad you’re back I hope you got to do something fun during the slow time.

      No, this wasn't too long. Thank you for sharing! There are many in this community who are just trying to figure out scheduling, so your workflow details can help them.

    As a backup, when a fitting appointment is scheduled, I write up a tag and hang it from a hanger in my lineup. There's something about seeing the hangers visually that help to reinforce those weak moments when I think I might say yes to taking on more alterations than I should. Also, should I ever lose my schedule, I'd have the hanger/tags to fall back on....whew :O)

    This is probably one of the most valuable tips ever. Just great.
    I would also love to know your suggestions on what to wear that is professional and practical when you meet the clients to fit them. That preferably doesn't show all the threads (and cat hair from my house!) so a lovely neat little black slacks and top doesn't work for me.
    Sorry if you have covered this already somewhere but I haven't seen it in your videos.
    I would REALLY love to know what I ought to wear! I do know the dangers of lipstick, lol.
    Thanks.

      I practically live in Jostar for my work basics/foundations. I do wear black, but they offer an array of colors. I get their clothes made out of slinky fabric. It never pills, and threads shake right off. I hope to reach out to them soon for a sponsorship, because I really do believe in their line. I've worn them for years. In terms of comfort, they reign also because of being so stretchy.
      I also like toppers from Altrd State because they are stylish but usually flowy for the flexibility we need. They can pill, though from our gown beads rubbing.
      Cabi can be pricy, but has never pilled on me. Most of their clothes have a little stretch, but not as much as Jostar.

    • @3whitehens
      @3whitehens 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BridalSewing Thank you! So a nice knit like Jostar.
      Do you usually wear, like, capris and a nice little tunic top type of outfit? As opposed to something else like a sundress (in summer) because I find myself crawling on the floor a lot...

    • @BridalSewing
      @BridalSewing  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I own probably 7 sets of black full length skirts & 3/4 sleeve top with high neck. The skirt serves as a contrast backdrop when I am working on the floor cris-cross applesauce, (pinning lace hems, etc.) The high neck works for me in terms of modesty because of bending over below people all day. It would be embarrassing to work in a V neck! Lol
      Then I switch out my toppers over the black. That's where I add my color and variety.

      I also go a step farther and add a staff jacket to my ensemble. Yep, it's a lab coat and it follows what the ateliers wear. In navy. Part of it is to keep me and their dresses clean, part of it is to signify that I am working to everyone (no coat, no work) the other part is that I don't have to tone down the bright colors that I wear so much since I cover it to work, but I still look nice.

    This is awesome!!! Thank you. I have just started something similar. At the beginning of the year, I made a spreadsheet with one page for the month with columns of appts, start, due, and wedding date. After seeing this I might make some adjustments. Having the month in view has made it easier for me to see a larger snapshot and not feel like I am missing something. So far it is working well. Thanks again. Love your videos!!!

    Awesome job! I love seeing the moments when you laugh off the little opps moments like dropping a planner! While I use a planner, I’m working on using a block schedule to guide how I get things done. I’m not anywhere close to being a seamstress for anyone but myself, I would recommend those who are to know when they do their best sewing work... in the morning, afternoon, evening, etc, and when they’re the best to talk to people and put those kinds of blocks then. :)
