No matter what. Drake mallard is an inspiration to everyone who's but put down too many times to count, but still found the strength to Get. Back. Up. It’s crazy how Jim was just an actor of darkening and then jealous at drake mallard for “stealing his glory” then transformed into negaduck- that was genius! In the original, drake mallard was darkwing and negaduck was from a different dimension. :3
My favorite fight in Ducktales, the fighting has a combination of humor and action that are blended perfectly, and it actually has some sort of psychological meaning.

I've not watched but a few episodes of the original, but I knew a bit about Negaduck. And thanks to videos popping up in my recommended, I knew he was gonna be in this episode. But I totally did not think it was gonna be Jim Starling. Also, I didn't realize that the chainsaw thing was a Negaduck thing. Now that I know, though, it does make for a crazy clue for longer-time fans of the original.
In the original Darkwing Duck series it was cool but it had way too many puns, hearing DW's new motto "Keep getting back up" is exactly what a Darkwing Duck reboot should have as a theme.
You know, Disney was going to do a Justice Ducks show in 1995 and they were going to have a lot of new characters that was going to be based off of Marvel before Disney bought them.
I love how when Scrooge says “If only one had a blasted mustache!” That’s what told me who was the bad guy. Jim Sterling had his tuffs more spread out. Like a mustache. Drake Mallard had his tuffs more straightened out. Such attention to detail.
Chris' Drake/Darkwing doesn't have the same clumsy ummph in his voice like Jim's Darkwing does (like in an earlier scene in this episode where Darkwing steps on landmines) but I'm sure he'll be great if they ever push our the Darkwing reboot.

Get Back Up, a teeny bit corny but it's an extremely good moral. Life is hard and you're not gonna do everything your first try, it can be demoralizing when things don't go how you planned but it's important to not give up and to *GET BACK UP*

for an old man the older darkwing is a great fighter my only nitpick with the new darkwing is hes kinda boring, like they removed the ego from the old one but didnt replace it with anything so now hes just a kinda boring "im good because i should be good" character, like older darkwings slapstick worked well because hes just shrug off damage caused to him with his ego, like how in the tv sample clip from the beginning of the episode wheres hes all "ha youll need more than 3 deadly explosions to take down darkwing duck" i really liked his over confidence
I'd think that the overall personality of Darkwing duck got split into two separate characters here where Drake retained the heroic qualities while keeping some of the ego where Jim got the ego with little redeeming qualities
I'm in agreement here. My other issue was Jim Cummings didn't voice the new DW. Which means if the new one gets a full on reboot, Jim won't be the voice, and that just leaves me uninterested as a whole.
Negaduck was always supposed to be Darkwing with all of the downsides and none of the upsides. Jim Starling's personality just gets that across without introducing special machinery that splits ducks into positive and negative versions or alternate Earths. The original was vain but he never went out of his way to sabotage a rival (Gizmoduck) or threaten the innocent for it. The original Negaduck did. Starling chopping the necks of security guards and attacking Drake were signs he's Ducktales' Negaduck.

his durability is more cartoon-like than others in the ducktales universe, im guessing. the tnt, piano, and electricity should've killed him, judging by dewey and launchpad's reactions, but darkwing instead survived them in a comedic way. hes not unkillable though

I love the little detail that the aspect ratio switches over to widescreen for the fight. It's a perfect touch.
