  • www.morepowertuning.com/ngauge... Some might say the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor is perfect from the factory. Already featuring a significant jump in power over other F-150 models with its 450hp & 510 lb-ft of torque (at the crank) twin turbo 3.5L Ecoboost, it's certainly an excellent performer both on and offroad. We're here for those discerning drivers who want just a little (or a lot) more.
    This particular Raptor started off the day putting down about 361hp and 391 lb-ft tq to the wheels on our Dynocom chassis dynometer with its original Ford programming, which is reasonable compared to Ford's numbers, considering the amount of drivetrain loss we expect on a vehicle of this type. After several dyno runs in hot conditions, that same truck with an MPT 93 PR-X tune file loaded in through the OBDII port managed to put down 452hp and 486lb-ft tq! That's with no modifications to its powertrain and 93 octane. In addition the power jump, MPT also improves throttle response and shifting.
    This same level of performance is now available to Raptor owners almost anywhere around the world. Once you receive a tuning package from MPT, you can then copy your stock file and email it to MPT along with your tune selections, modification list, and any special requests. Your bespoke tune files are then created and emailed to you. Just drop them on a micro SD card, pop it into your nGauge tuner, and program your vehicle.
    The truck feels so much lighter with the increased throttle response and part throttle boost. Wide open throttle boost is increased over stock by +/- 15% which equals out to around 3/5 psi, depending on the rpm. Peak boost is around 20psi +/-.
    With this tune you're looking at huge increases in low end torque and acceleration, faster 0-60 times, quicker 1/4 mile results, shift points optimized with a focus on performance.
    The shift points in normal mode will hit all 10 gears, with downshifts tightened up putting you in the right gear at the right time. This means power to the wheels when the driver demands it.
    Sport Mode and Tow Haul mode retain most all of the positive features from Ford with minor tweaks to improve over all feel.
    All driving modes drastically improve throttle response and feel, but click to Sport mode and this improvement is multiplied. Sport mode has a noticeable increase in throttle response above that of the already increased base mode. The PR-X tune is only available for premium fuels of 91 octane or better.
    The nGauge is a highly advanced yet easy to use programmer and data logger that looks good on your dash. It can swap MPT tunes in minutes and even return to stock, making it 100% reversible.
    The Brushed Metallic face with Chrome bezel and 6 programmable LED's on the face of the device make for a clean install whether you decide to place it on your dash, window, or in a vent. The included stylus on the resistive LCD touch screen is easy to use for loading tunes, setting up gauges or recording data logs. The stylus serves a dual purpose, as the back end of it is the perfect size to use for ejecting the microSD card from its slot in the bottom of the nGauge.
    Gauges, Data, and Logging at it's Finest.
    No need to lug around a laptop for accurate data logging results, the nGauge is capable of high-resolution data logging on-device. Hundreds of parameters are available for each vehicle, as well as plenty of generic OBDII parameters that can be accessed for use with many different makes and models. The data conveniently records directly to the included microSD card automatically, when you stop the data log. Even if power is unexpectedly shut off, the nGauge will automatically save the current data log recording and you can access it at your PC, Mac, or Linux computer just by plugging the nGauge in through USB or loading the microSD card into a card reader, then transferring the file. This is a simple click, drag, and then, drop operation. No additional software to install, no drivers to deal with, no headaches.
    Up to 6 individual parameters can be display on-screen at once, with the option to set up a few different layouts with different parameters saved and ready to record as soon as you set them up. Upon initial logging setup, the nGauge will detect the vehicle, save all available parameters specific to that vehicle, and when you decide which ones to view, it will save your gauge setup for when you return to it in the future. A set of 6 programmable LED's on the face of the nGauge serve as warning lights for any of the parameters you choose.

    I got my new 18 Raptor last August. I went with mpt with their awesome reviews, I got the 91 tune and it was alright but I wasn't thrilled I guess I was expecting a bit more and I know my 35 toyos are super heavy and take up Alot of hp, I soon after got a e30 and e50 tune from them with e85 mix and my gosh it literally feels like it gained twice as much hp as the 91 octane feels. I love it my daily driver raptor now! Have not lost to any truck I raced yet.

    Anybody concerned with the HP increase when super-hot? I feel like the truck may have de-tuned itself for a reason that the aftermarket tune is over-riding. I'd like to see how it performs when hot for a while and if heat soak becomes an issue.

      Johnny where should I start. Leading in sales. Innovation. Towing. Power. Ford has been taking all the chances and killing it. From taking the powerstroke to an in house build. To these monster ecoboost engines. You must be a dodge guy. Only ones dumb enough not to see how they're leading the industry. And everyone else is following. Sucker.

    • @Txcowboy80
      @Txcowboy80 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope. Got me a 2018 Tundra (second tundra). Putting monster and ecoboost in the same sentence is laughable. Sure sales are good but I'll be able to buy a used one with 50k miles for 1/2 price because the resale on them are shit. You must be the guy that likes all the fancy new electronics and uses the truck as a grocery getter.
      I want a naturally aspirated v8 (no cut off cylinders/v6 turbos crap) with a heavy duty rear end.

    • @trudeaumustgo1920
      @trudeaumustgo1920 6 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Johnny they haven't updated the drive train in the tundra since 08. And the Ford is technically more heavy duty since it can tow more. And the front end on those tundras look like a sports car. That truck you bought must come with a free box of maxi pads and a big black dildo. You see way more girls driving tundras for a reason. Girls truck. And free maxi pads. Why would it be laughable? Over 500lb feet of tq from a 3.5 isn't monster to You? Your not a real gear head. Probably just a pussy.

    Do you have an aftermarket intercooler in this...i was looking at the Wagner and noticed they had 2 types (normal and Competition)...if the truck was to be a daily driver would you just go with normal Wagner Intercooler that i'm seeing for approx $990. I seen where the Competition said only non-daily driver raptors. I'm looking to get the intercooler with tunes.

    2017 H.O. 3.5 Raptor tunes to 452 hp/486 tq
    2017 F150 3.5 tunes to 449 hp/472 tq
    2016 F150 3.5 tunes to 408 hp/526 tq
    One of the reasons I was contemplating moving into the Raptor was the engine. My tuned 2016 is holding it's own in the power department. Second guessing now.

    Is that AFR right? That seems super lean for a boosted engine, even the stock tune.

    • @JRRodriguez1
      @JRRodriguez1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Displaying an AFR of 16 on the dyno graph just means the dyno's wideband isn't connected, which makes sense since these trucks come with dual widebands from the factory and they're using the Ngauge to datalog.

      JONNY JO In no way am I an expert in tuning so take this as a grain of salt. But I did read the dealer will be able to tell that that ECU has been reflashed. It has something to do with factory ECU numbers not matching what they have in the system.

    Impressive. Wonder what a stock hemi does with equivalent tune. Same with a stock 5.0 with equivalent tune.

    • @JohnVesely
      @JohnVesely 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Most likely not even close since the 5.0 and the 5.7 hemi are naturally aspirated. With boosted engines a tune goes a long way since they are able to increase timing, air(boost), and fuel. When tuning an N/A engine you don’t have the ability to add more air to the engine to make more power so messing with timing will increase power a little bit. I’m sure there’s more to it than that, I’m not a tuner but that just my understanding of it.

    • @BUILTDIESELMAFIA
      @BUILTDIESELMAFIA 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      John Vesely yeah I know a forced induction engine will see bigger gains. But just curious how much they get out of a 5.0 or 5.7

    • @montanawild7558
      @montanawild7558 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You might get 25 or 30hp but like was already said, a naturally aspirated motor has nowhere near the same tuning potential. Not even close. That little V6 will absolutely destroy those V8 motors.

      When it comes to increasing performance through tuning, we take a long-form approach that works within the framework that Ford has already established and retains or expands upon the safeguards they’ve engineered. Goal is great drivability and response in normal driving conditions while unlocking its maximum potential at wide-open throttle. Not pushing any components beyond what they’re capable of, but rather unlocking what’s already there.

    • @mptperformance
      @mptperformance  6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Thanks, Patrick! You're probably joking, but for anyone else seeing this comment that might be confused, let's elaborate on Drivetrain Loss. Power figures advertised by auto manufactures are measured at the crank (big round pulley on the front of the engine). That means the engine is on a specialized stand (engine dynamometer), rather than in a vehicle and its not sending power through all the moving gears, shafts, and sprockets that transmit power (eventually) to the driven wheels. Here at More Power Tuning we use a chassis dynamometer ( aka dyno) to measure power output. That means the entire vehicle is strapped to a platform and its wheels spin big metal drums. The difference between power at the crank versus at the wheels is commonly referred to as drivetrain loss. On this particular Raptor, on stock programming and cool conditions, we measured 360hp and 391ft-lbs at the wheels, while Ford advertises 450hp and 510ft-lbs at the crank. After several dyno runs in hot conditions, that same truck with an MPT 93 PR-X tune file loaded in through the OBDII port managed to put down 452hp and 486lb-ft tq! For a more in-depth explanation of drivetrain loss, check out this excellent article by Super Street www.superstreetonline.com/how-to/engine/modp-1005-drivetrain-power-loss/
