Every piece of work I see is prettier than one before. This one with being able to see through the resin just really makes it showcase! I am total amazed by your skills.

Apart from the nice work you did, feeling of the video is really nice. I used to watch 40 minutes long wooden ring making videos. This reminded me that. Really nice and calming feeling. It was about 8 or 10 years ago and most of the videos like this had a personality back then. I hope this makes sense.

@@formanwoodworking, I have been looking at full sized lathes, and value your opinion.
What is your opinion on Rikon lathes? I'm considering the 70-18/24 because it has every single feature I want.
The 70-30/40 with electric sliding rail is an absolute beast on paper,
      but no rotating headstock.
Its hard to pass up on something this sturdy, and solidly built.
Which do you think is better for ALL aspects of woodturning?
Is there a lathe brand or model that is superior in the $5,000 price range?
My sincere thanks if you answer me back.

What a fantastically gorgeous bowl! I see you being all clever with the small dowels across the top to hold things in place!!! Very smart! I super look forward to your posts because you create beautiful and thoughtful pieces that seam simple but are actually quite involved and very interesting. I salute you my friend!!!

First video I saw from you and really love the style of doing a video as well as the project you created. Subscribed! I don't think you need ideas from other turners who seem to compete with the complexity of segmenged turning. That is one form of entertainment to watch, but after seeing a few they all seem so similar and you'd rather watch something you might actually try yourself. Plus, I like to see the end result before I decide to watch the process, how its designed and done, instead of watching a lot of turning to finally see what came out of it. The colors you chose are lovely and something I would choose as well. You just can't go wrong with sea green / emerald / turquoise / petrol blue.

Can you power sand instead of hand sand? Or would the different densities between wood and resin cause an uneven surface?

  • @smythc1

How do you figure the amount of resin for a project like this? I’m new to this. Amazing bowl!

  • @_zhawkeye_9808

    ...stunning!...very well done!...👍
Ideas???...using contrasting woods...adding veneers between pieces...Mayuko Wood Turning segments pretty much everything and may give you some new ideas...he doesn't use resin, so you'd have an advantage for some more incredible pieces...

@@formanwoodworking Please understand, I'm no expert...just someone getting started and watching several amazing turners that I've found...of course, you're one of them...
Another is BAW Breizh Art Wood...he'll segment pieces, but then incorporate common items such as sticks, bamboo, etc. and use resin as a filler. You might get some ideas from his channel...
Anyway...looking forward to see what you come up with next...👍

how expensive is it to make things like these?
I have a Lathe that I suddenly have an urge to dust off and making myself a Resin Bowl sounds like a fun project but I don't think Resin is that cheap. Do you have an idea of what the cost of materials is?

    • @formanwoodworking
      @formanwoodworking  ปีที่แล้ว +1

I can't remember how much the oak cost. I didn't need a lot to make the rings, so I'm going to just guess and say the cost for the wood was somewhere between $15-$30. The resin was also ~$30 in total volume used. So, not including other little costs, like the material needed to make the mould, sanding paper, finish, and all that sort of stuff, I'd say it was around $55 give or take.
