You need much more filter capacitance to prevent ripple on the output above 100mA. You need protection diode to prevent the battery discharging into the LM317 if the 220Vac is turned off. You need to earth the transformer case. YOU MUST FUSE THE 220Vac and insulate your wires.

Add a series diode rated 2Amp to prevent reverse voltage. Lm317 is rated to 1.5 Amp. Need to add transistor d718 or 2sc5200 or 2n3055 for higher current rating.

there are 2 types of transformers that must be known, the type of CT and not CT. If the transformer that I use is not CT, then I will need 4 diodes, because the transformer that I use is CT then I only need 2 diodes ,, Full wave rectifier with 2 diodes must use a CT transformer or center tapped because the transformer provides different phase outputs up to 180 degrees. With the two diodes connected to the CT transformer output, it makes the signal form a full wave.

@@ionmarius6652 yes but you would have to make sure the input voltage is very close to the output as the lm317 will discharge the excess energy from the difference in voltage as heat. In other words if you're charging a 6 volt battery with a 15 volt input, it'll get hot fast.

How can you charge the 12 volt battery 3 amps and the IC can bear 1.5 amps through the datachet I think you will lose the ic after a while, thank you

Jelas sekali om...tp saya coba berhasil om tp dari PSU bekas komputer tp saya pakek ic lm untuk mengukur amper kok g kuat ya om buat nyalain pompa portebel 12 vold 15 amper tp klo saya langsung dari kabel kuning 12 vold kok kuat ...apa rangkain adjus pakai lm317 bisa menurunkan amper om tp belum saya coba yg rangkaian di video ini om yg saya coba yg mengukur amper..
Memang benar ic LM317 hanya bisa maksimal 1,5 Ampere... Untuk menambah amper sebanyak 15A.. kita perlu tambahkan beberapa transistor Tip3055 atau 2955...

I want to make a voltage regulator circuit. Used component 12-0-12 (3amp)transformer , 5408 diode( full wave bridge rectifier), 4700uf 50v capacitor then 1uf63v capacitor then LM317 with 5k potentiometer and 330 ohm resistance and 10uf63v capacitor. BUT every time potentiometer was burn when i give AC line. What is the problem??? Please help me???
