This Italy travel video we are the question is Italy overrated or is it one of the best countries in the world? We want to show you the truth about Italy and how easy it is to experience real Italy without tourists. The Italian food is of course incredible but what about the other parts? This video will show you some of the must-do things in Italy. It gives alternatives to the touristy Cinque Terre in the form of Tellaro and Tivenga. Also we try making Italian pizza in a woodfire oven and visit a vineyard, filling up our wine from a petrol pump at Cantina Lunae.
We also got to stay in an incredible villa in the hills thanks to our subscriber. Check out his place below.

No, Italy is absolutely not overrated. I have been going there since I was 14.
    Italy is heaven on earth.
Being French, I have learnt Italian rather easily and I plan to retire there, I have just bought an apartment in Umbria. When I am in Italy, I feel like being among my cousins.

I was in Italy last year in September. My heritage hails from the southern part of the country in Napoli. I have friends I've known in Bologna for about 16 years, and they couldn't wait for me to come. Our first stop was Rome which was amazing, followed by the Amalfi Coast, Sorrento, taking a boat to the island of Capri, then putting the anchor down and swimming in the ocean. Then up to Venice, and finally Bologna. While in Venice, I went where the locals were, we ate at Al Timon there and it was delicious. When I got to Bologna, my friend there brought us to a place to eat, and another friend there showed up even though his son was sick, he wanted to be able to see me.
The next day my friend brought me to the Ferrari museum which I loved and than took me out to eat. It helps knowing people there as they can help guide you and bring you to the best spots. I laugh when people say the food wasn't good because they got suckered into a place advertising a tourist menu, rather than going to the places where the locals go. Or the guys that are yelling at you to come check out the place. A place with great food will speak for itself, not a guy yelling at you to come in.
Italy is the only country I've ever been to and I don't really need to go anywhere else. I feel like it's my second home there, as there is where the family began before they came to the United States. People with Italian heritage should connect with their roots. Trust me, I cried when flying out of Rome back home to New York. A part of my heart was left there and there is just so much to see but not enough time. I will be going back though because for me, I don't think anything else as a package can compete with Italia. Food, language, wine, cars, history, architecture, the people, the scenery and the mere fact that Italia is basically an open art museum. You'll find tons of stuff that you couldn't find in other countries. Can't wait to go back.

Florence is basicly owned by the Chinese. You can use Union Pay there in all the shops. Union Pay is a Mainland China banking system used exclusively in China and its special admin regions such as HK and Macau. Yet its a dominant payment system in Florence. Florence is a nice place, but people really can't see past their own noses at what's happening to a country that once had the most fantastic architecture, but now sits in literal ruins.

Brilliant! That is REAL Italy. I had a big grin on my face the entire video. Even in Rome, or Venice, or Florence... you can have a local "small town experience" if you choose to. Get off the beaten path. Stay in a room above a family restaurant. Shop at the grocery store. Go to a vinaria for your wine. And most importantly, slow the hell down. Sit somewhere and do nothing but watch, listen, and smell. Don't do anything in a timely manner. That is when travel is at it's best. impromptu. Be open to a variety of options. Do and try new things. Please communicate with locals, even if you don't speak the language. It's really hard not to fall in love with Italy. It seeps into your bones. Once you have been there, you will always feel the pull to go back. It feels like home.

When I was in Poland I asked for a pizza with sausage and mushrooms. The waitress said, "Sausage? I guess I could do that." Well I was a little afraid how it was going to turn out. I guess I was expecting Italian sausage on my pizza, but it came back with sliced kielbasa on it. Actually, it tasted pretty good.

    • @ziiz79

You need to be careful with asking for sausage in Poland. You can get about 1000 different kinds. We think we invented kielbasa and wodka. And of course, it's true.

We Italians know well where tourists usually go, but we know perfectly well that Italy is all beautiful, there is no city that does not give you something, for the simple fact that it is a true nation culturally, which has kept its historical nature intact , so you might find beauty even in places you've never heard the name of …
it is we Italians who underestimate ourselves, Italy, with its wealth of art, culture and natural beauty, has long been the leader of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the world, and we invest nothing in Rome, the Eternal City .... the other nations invest a lot in their cities and capitals, Tokyo, London, Paris ecc.
in reality, Italy has never reached its real potential, our problem is the politicians who sell us off for a loaf of bread … XD
P.S. You are two crazy guys, you made me laugh xD

I have been to so many countries, but came back to Italy more times than all my other trips combined. Italy has so much to offer from everthing: culture, heritage, beaches, mountains, lakes, architecture, food, very nice people, beautiful passionate girls and much more. Rome, Venice, Florence are maybe 1% of what the country has to offer. I was never disappointed (well, to be honest, one single time yes: I made some really bad experiences in Taranto. Don't go there)

    • @althealieniz5200
