"Find them!!!" is my favorite non-humorous Mayor moment. It ties so well into the fact that he cares about her in a way that goes against what many fans have been consider him to be towards Faith until now. He cares about Faith, but he's still a soulless human who used her. It's why his character was so fascinating. In true Scooby fashion, the group judge Angel for something he fought Buffy on aka biting Buffy and her forcing him to drain her to cure the poison, then the group lies to Buffy about why Angel left the hospital. It doesn't matter what it appears to be to them. What matters, is the group should have learned from their mistakes in judgement back in _Dead Man's Party_ and _Revelation._
More than 20 years later and that scene in the hospital still blows my mind. It is a four minute long single take (a Whedon directorial signature). So much is going on, and so many little details that must be timed so precisely, and it still maintains its emotional intensity throughout. Also, I love the parallel of Buffy kissing Faith on the forehead- a much gentler and forgiving version of Faith kissing Buffy in "Enemies".
End of an era for the show. Leaving the high school setting, moving into the next act. One of my favorite parts was seeing Cordy getting to stake a vampire. Feels like a rite of passage, almost saying "she's ready for the world and whatever it has to throw at her".
I love that the Mayor is disappointed that he doesn't get to finish his graduation speech. Lol! "I had a whole section on civic pride..." 😄🤣 Hilarious. I love this episode. When the whole class pulls off their robes, prepared for battle, I get a little teary. Everyone in it together to kick ass, whoo!

The mayor was my favorite Buffy villain and season 3 was my favorite season. I loved the juxtaposition of Buffy and Faith. Buffy’s relationship with Giles and Faith’s with the mayor. Good stuff.
I always forget how viceral it is when Angel drinks from Buffy. Her crushing things, kicking the table, its like the Slayer in her is yelling 'Fight!' but her mind is saying, 'No!'
I believe the writers’ intention when Angel drinks from Buffy is that it is a parallel to a sexual encounter. Her reaction is supposed to represent an intense climax (since she’s so naturally strong her reaction appears quite violent). BtVS often thinly veils sexual innuendo in the vampire’s bite.
I always loved Angel destroying the door handle, walking out, and you see this security guard 3 feet away who was apparently oblivious to what happened.

Well, Xander was like 16 in season 1, his behavior def made sense. xD But he does grow as a person throughout the show, they all do. Which is the great thing about this show, they all change and grow. This is why I love series with long seasons, unlike the short 8eps we get now. With around 20 episodes a season we have time for chill time and filler time and character development time. Not just plot plot action action like they do nowadays.
Exactly my thoughts. As an older guy who grew up with long (mostly episodic) seasons, these short, quick, packed seasons to give enough time for character growth...only some development.

IIRC, the idea was originally that the principal would be killed every few episodes, kind of like how the Dark Arts teacher changes every year in Harry Potter, but the writers liked Armin Shimerman as Snyder so much that they dropped the idea. ...But they had to eat him. Obviously. Would have been a missed opportunity otherwise.
I was at a Con in Blackpool where Armin Shimerman was a guest; he told them that if he was to play Snyder he had to be eaten like Flutie was or he would say no. He was already a main starring character on DS9 at the time, so his appearance time was restricted but Snyder was a very popular character; one that people loved because he was so comically evil, kerk
I was today year's old when I found out..... that the Mayor put up a picture of what he would become on Faith's wall directly in front of her bed. 24 years later, still finding out new little carrots. Thank you for that "Darcie-nator cake creator" Also.... "she going to need some juice" is now iconic.... hahaha
"I think we should prepare them." Indeed! But the show went one step further - they recruited them! A lot of folks don't think the Mayor actually cares for Faith, they think he's just using her - until they watch his reaction to what he finds at her apartment. Yes, he's using her - but he cares for her, a lot. She's the daughter he never had. That doctor in the hospital talking about Faith? He doesn't know about Slayer healing. So as long as she's not actually dead, there's hope for Faith to pull through.
The mayor storyline is a bit like final fantasy 8. The mayor is Edea/Ultimicia and Faith is like Seifer, trained to be his knight or whatever. Buffy would be squall and willow would be zell. It's like an opposite sex ff8.
Mark 2 ... High schools she took out 😂😂😂.... I really believe people should watch the Buffy movie ... I get it that it is more of a joke but it explains a lot of season 1 in newbies miss so much from not seeing the Buffy movie 🙄😳🙄😬😬
It's nice seeing a fresh reaction to this season. It was a bit weird when it first aired - the Columbine school shooting happened during this season, and Earshot and the two-part season finale were delayed by several months out of consideration. And back then, if you wanted to refresh yourself as to what happened leading up to those episodes, well, hopefully you recorded them on your VCR and still had them around, and your little brother or roommate hadn't recorded over them. Watching the episodes when they finally aired was - I'm not sure how to put it, but there was a different emotional layer on them. A little more real, maybe. Like, school really could be a war zone. Nowadays, sadly, that's what kids have to face potentially every day but back then it was pretty fresh and raw.

And another Sunnydale high principal gets eaten. I'm kind of sad about Larry getting eaten though. Not so sad about Harmony. But most of the people survived! The school not so much. It'll be really interesting to see where they go from here.

Wesley & Cordy finally kissing... not unlike the hugely hyped championship game that is about as exciting as Formula Paint Drying or the sadly underwhelming transformation of the Mayor. The fact that they had the whole class in the fight and that, "Well Gosh, " from Demon!Mayor + the eating of Snyder (went to a con in Blackpool where Armin Shimerman said he agreed to the role only because he insisted, and got his way, that when Snyder was killed he was eaten just like Principal Snyder. What a magnificent team of villains S3 had. The Mayor; Mr. Trick & the comically evil Snyder :-) kerk
