I did something similar. I used a PC webcam and connected it to an old phone. The webcam is powered from line to the phone. I used a usb hub to connect a power bank, so this setup will last all day. The app on the phone mirrors the image.
Thanks for saving me the time and energy! I was looking into the same thing! What a cluster @#$! The mess on your handle bars and the sad mount under the bike seat (where I have a bag!). Either I get a small ugly mirror or turn my head.😁
The is nothing that can beat the actual turning of your head to see what coming up behind you. This just makes for a lazy ride where you don't have to think.
wouldnt it be great if someone came up with a display that would include everything you could need on your handle bars or even just a single mount for all your gadgets?
So cool and such a good idea!!
Amazon/eBay have a rear view bike camera called (Feisike), it has a 4.3in screen, 6hr. Rechargeable li- on battery life. Infrared night vision. $59.99, I love it, it works fine
Mark, was impressed with the camera you bought but read some of the reviews and got sceptical. So you’ve had no issues? Sorry I forgot to look, dies it record as well? Thanks man. Scott
The Feiske camera don't record.
@@markj.7630 forget it even more then- def want record options. Thanks Mark
@@markj.7630 What's the point of paying for a $60 camera that doesn't record? Plus, the monitor takes up too much space. There should be an app that goes with it so, a phone screen doubles as a monitoring screen. Yes, live feed, but I can get pretty good views with my handlebar mirror for a lot less money.
Excellent tutorial. Does the camera automatically output to hdmi when connected? I want to do something similar except use a phone as a screen and camera permanently attached to the rear rack and charging cable permanently attached to the bike batter with a converter. My hope is when the bike turns on the camera turns on and outputs to hdmi without faffing about with settings and buttons.
Your videos are always kool I wish you were in NYC so you could make me an ebike
I ride an electric unicycle and could really use something like this. I can’t find it on the commercial market anywhere and may end up doing a do-it-yourself as you have. In my case, I would mount the cam on my backpack and get a smaller monitor for maybe my wrist. I am not a fan of mirrors especially when you have to make a quick move where a mirror requires aiming and focusing (for my ride anyway).
When you want cars to come up behind you and there's none to be had :)
Thank you for this video I've been thinking about additional review mirror since my friend had one in his vehicle looked awesome. Just can figure out how to mount it. I just wanted to say that for a regular mirror I ended up using a motorcycle mirror because the bicycle mirrors just sucked
finally a solution that makes sense, i have tried this before with my go pro but couldn't flip the image. I would love to see if some company was to release full solution or company like go pro can add that in there software.
thanks
Just glue a mirror underneath ant take the real world image onto it onto the camera lens
Hey there could you post a link to that screen mount? Thanks
Crafty ideas, looks good. I’m looking for one now; was wondering how the clarity is with night riding? Also I missed what kind of battery life you’re averaging? Thanks! Scott
This is a cool solution!.What are you going to do with cable management?
Do you sell any 20in fat tire conversion kits? I didn’t see any on your website?
I find it hard to believe that a video image on a 4-inch screen is better than a 4-inch mirror.
I use a 4-inch mirror on my bike but find the general opinion from other bike users is that large mirrors on bikes are "uncool".
I am in my seventies and have asked many bike users who are the generation younger than me and when asked, none of them used bike mirrors let alone large bike mirrors.
I remember thinking at the time that if someone came out with a 4-inch video rear view monitor 50% of these people, especially the much younger users would think how cool is that.
BTW. 1. I can see a strong argument for using a camera with memory for legal purposes.
2. I also can see a very strong argument if the camera has effective real-time image stabilization built in.
Very nice indeed. Are you still running this set up? How does it hold up in strong sunlight. I think LCD don't like it
It would be great if there was a wireless camera with an app that doesn't require wifi and records rear view action. So the killers can be recorded, fined, and charged accordingly .
Habe you tried a convex rear view mirror?
Hello sir please where did you buy your softshell phone mount with a rubber base and larger rubber holder??
What battery did you use and how long does it last ,
What was the rubber mount you used for the monitor? I am trying to replicate this build, but can't find a rubber mount (perhaps I'm just not using the right search terms). Thanks you! And bigger thank you for this, I've been trying to find a rearview mirror camera for my electric trike, but none of the ones on the market have a long enough cable. Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated!
Did you happen to find one? 😊
Can you tell me what phone mount you got?
Can you tell me what mount is that
Did u connect the monitor to a battery pack or by a power bank?
I've been looking for this myself. Has anyone found anything commerical?
Hey there could you post a link to that screen mount? Thanks
Will the 7" screen from same company you used the 5.5 screen work to
That's fantastic. Will it work with a GoPro hero3+?
Yes it will
@@AugustineEBikes hi please could you tell me where you found that mount. Can’t find anything like it at all, thank you
Why doesn’t someone come out with a ebike monitor that can switch over to be a rear camera maybe just have the speed and battery on the edge. Seems simple enough
Hi could you help me out I have a error 10 code on my lcd screen is this the controller or the lcd
After all that preparation the setup looks like crap
When you see a dog chasing you😰😰
Is there life on Mars?
Nice upload! I hope you'd enjoy my videos too. Keep up with your great work! 💜💜
This is pretty cool but seems like tech overkill.
I get the frustration with the bar-mounted mirror, but have you tried any glasses-mounted mirrors? I like the Take-a-look and Specchio.
I have tried, helmet and bar mounted mirrors and they are all equally rubbish
We dont wear glasses, gramps.
Need glasses.
