  • In this video, I'll guide you through the process of achieving a professional fade haircut. Fades require precision and attention to detail, ensuring a seamless blend from shorter sides to longer top sections. Follow along as we go step-by-step, covering everything from consultation to blending techniques.
    * Start with a thorough consultation to understand the client's preferences for fade height and length.
    * Use a Sanek strip and cape to create a barrier and protect the client's skin during the haircut.
    * Choose the appropriate clipper guard and comb attachment based on the desired length.
    * Begin the fade with a horseshoe section on top, carefully avoiding the parietal ridge.
    * Employ a scooping motion with the clipper, making C swipes to achieve a smooth transition.
    * Blend the fade using clipper over comb technique, ensuring a seamless connection between different lengths.
    * Dampen the hair for scissor cutting, creating a guide for the top sections using traveling guide technique.
    * Use thinning shears over comb to further refine and blend the haircut.
    * Utilize a trimmer for outlining, ensuring an upward motion to prevent irritation.
    * Connect the sideburn into facial hair, maintaining a gradual transition from shorter to longer with a comb.
Remember to tailor your approach based on individual preferences and hair types, and always finish with a professional touch, whether it's a final blend, styling, or a relaxing shampoo for your client.
    Have a great hair day!

Thanks. It’s a flat top comb. It’s amazing for fades!

I never know what size attachment to use? How do you know when to use what size?

If your client gets their hair cut every 4ish weeks…. You’ll know about a half inch needs to come off.
Sometimes I’ll take the comb attachment without the clippers and try it out. If I’m combing upwards and it’s not catching much hair then I’ll move to the next size down until it grabs the amount of hair I want.
Using different length attachments is a great way to blend as well. For example if you start with a number 2 up to the parietal ridge, then go in with a number 1 underneath to create a nice blend.
Most of my fades I’ll use either a number 1, a blender or no guard for the shortest lengths.
Thanks so much for watching and for your great question!
