      Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoy them. When I talk about 90 degrees, it’s in reference to where I’m working on the head. If I pull hair straight out from where it grows then it’s being held at 90 degrees…. No matter where you are on the head. I have another video on lines and angles. You can check it out it may help as well. Thanks again.

    Thank you for your videos and clear explanations. They are very helpful! Where could a new stylist find color charts to help them on the road to being a good colorist? TY 😊

    • @AmysHairLab
      @AmysHairLab 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks so much for watching. Every Color line has their own charts but a basic understanding in Color theory should help you understand the charts no matter what line you’re using. You can check out my video on haircolor/the Color wheel if you’d like a refresher. The best advice is probably to become very familiar with the Color wheel. The principles of the Color wheel will never change. And find out where the Color’s you’re using sit on the Color wheel…for example, in the color line I use, the N’s are warmer than the NN’s. They’re both “naturals” but are formulated a little different. Hope this helps.

      I’m not really familiar with drugstore brands… but some hair salons do take home color kits. This may be an option. If you don’t want high maintenance stick with Demi permanent that will blend your grays. If the box says 12 to 24 shampoos it’s actually permanent so be careful. Hope this helps

    • @AmysHairLab
      @AmysHairLab หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good question. All underlying pigment in our hair is warm… so even though it’s slightly lifting, it’s still exposing warmth. “N’s” are neutral which means they have both warm and cool in them which is a great choice for covering gray but you might want to try adding some ash to your formula to cool it out. It could also be a water issue…. I use hard water treatment on clients who tend to fade really warm as the mineral deposit can cause excess warmth too. Hope this helps!

    Hello Amy I’m a new subscriber love your videos thank you for not using loud music and being very calm and explaining things so well in your videos it’s very refreshing😍. My problem is I have thyroid issues all my life and my hair in my late 30s has gone from really thick to fine in the past couple years and I have tried everything do you have any tips for hair thickness please? tysvm 🥰🤗I use everything natural too and have a great healthy diet.I can’t wait to see a recipe for your shampoo and conditioner or until you come out with products to sell 😍.

    • @AmysHairLab
      @AmysHairLab หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m So glad you are enjoying the videos and thank you for subscribing. Thyroid issues are no fun and they wreak havoc on your hair. The best thing you can do is ensure you are using good products that keep your scalp healthy… there’s not much you can do about thyroid related hair loss but by keeping your scalp healthy you’ll promote a healthy environment for your hair to grow. I use rosemary and peppermint in my shampoo which have antibacterial properties which is great for the scalp. I would avoid sulfates and mineral oils as well as they’ve been known to irritate the scalp. Thanks again for watching.

    Amy! I found your video so helpful! I have a question. On all my clients I had to do perm services,I had seen to two of them that the results of perm is not good. The hair did not hold the shape after the first wash. What I’m doing wrong?? They leave the salon happy with the results of what they asked for.

    • @AmysHairLab
      @AmysHairLab หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hmmmm… it’s normal for a perm to relax a bit after the first wash… sometimes making the curls a little tighter will give them some wiggle room to relax. This is especially true with” body perms”. The client doesn’t want curl but they want body… if there’s not enough shape the waves will relax almost altogether. If the curls are relaxing quickly it’s likely the size of the rod. You may want to try smaller rods or if the hair is long try a piggy back or spiral wrap. Hope this helps. Thanks so much for watching. And thanks for the question!

    • @ScottCornwall
      @ScottCornwall หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi this is a great video! I saw this question and I think from my experience the issue here isn’t the wind or rods. It sounds like the neutralisation did not occur well. You can get hair to perm without a neutraliser and you’ll get a curly result. But over a wash or so the curl will vanish. In my experience when I advise on perms I always recommend resting the hair for 30 minutes between rinsing the perm lotion off and neutralising. The hair is really alkaline after the perm lotion has been applied and is flooded with water. When the hair is just blotted it holds a lot of the rinsing water. When the neutraliser is applied it either bounces off the water logged hair or dilutes inside. Giving the hair a resting period or intense towel blotting absorbs this water and makes the neutralising more thorough. This is also why air oxidised perms are so resilient. Ultimately, the more water you can get the hair to release after you rinse the perm lotion out, the more chance the neutraliser has of reconnecting the disulphide bridges in the hair.

    • @AmysHairLab
      @AmysHairLab 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A spiral or piggyback perm would work on long hair. Depending on the type of curl you’re looking for there are other options too… like wrapping on soft bender rods. I don’t have any connections in Ontario but I’m pretty sure you’ll find a stylist who is experienced in texture services. Thanks for watching.

    • @AmysHairLab
      @AmysHairLab 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. We charge extra for this service. It’s definitely more challenging from the side as it tends to be not quite as comfortable for the client…. Or for the stylist. However I used a side sink for years and I still did many of the same techniques but it’s just not as comfortable. I did another shampooing video and I showed techniques from the side as well. The link is on this video. Something I tried that clients liked from a side sink was a dry hot towel on their neck during the shampoo service. It relaxes the client to allow you to spend a little longer on the massage. You can even replace the hot towel when it starts to cool. It’s a nice touch. I’ve also seen stylists use a footstool for clients to put their feet up. This takes a lot of pressure off of their back and neck. Hope this helps. Thanks for your question and thanks for watching. ❤️

      Well an oval face can wear pretty much anything. If there are features you want to accentuate you can keep it tight on the sides. More hair on the sides will widen out the face…. This applies to facial hair too. Having a fringe is pretty popular right now… I did this cut on my son. If you don’t mind styling your hair, this is a great cut. If you aren’t into styling, keep it a little shorter on top. I recommend using shears on top even if you cut it short… it gives more movement and you’ll have a style instead of using clippers… it looks more buzz. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.

    Is this technique possible with a skin fade as well or more so for working your way up from a number 1 on the sides as the shortest length? Thanks for including both male and female hair cutting tips on your channel!

      Yes! These techniques you can apply to all your fades. The principles are the same just different lengths. Thanks so much for watching. ❤️
