      We stayed in an apartment in Cortona. I just loved it and would stay there again. It's quiet, spacious, and easy to park AND get to the town center.

    Where is an ideal place to pick up a rental car in Rome and drop off in Florence? Thank you. Your videos are wonderful and so helpful

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks so much! If you are comfortable driving in a city like Rome, you could pick up a car in the city, either at one of the locations near your hotel, or at Termini station. If you are not that comfortable driving in Rome (and I'd say most people who are not used it would not be comfortable!), then I suggest picking up your rental car at Fiumicino airport.
      But if you are JUST going between Rome and Florence and not going anywhere else, in my opinion, the train is the fastest and easiest way to go. I'd rent a car if you are going to visit the countryside, but not to go from one big city to another.

  • @andrewtaylor9799
    @andrewtaylor9799 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Try not to spend too much time driving the rental car in Rome. It is a madhouse. If you can, rent it somewhere else where the traffic if lighter.

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is excellent advice and very true! You can rent the car at Fiumicino airport and drive from there. Much easier than renting from Rome's center.

      @@Romewise This video made me want to go back to Tuscany! On our first trip to Europe together, my wife and I stayed a few nights in Montepulciano, and it was sooooo charming. This was in the 1990s.

    Is going to San Gimignano from Rome doable?

    • @Romewise
      @Romewise  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's very doable but probably not a great idea as a day trip. Driving there is around 3 hours, and trains/buses will take 4+ hours. San Gimignano is an easier trip from Florence or Siena. But it's doable from Rome! It just depends on how you want to visit it.
