even though i'm black, i was raised muslim in nj and i love the show too. the humaness and the complexity highlighted is wonderful, but i cant get into the incest stuff.
I had never even heard of Ramy until today, but I will be giving the show a chance. It will be getting that chance partly because I like learning about different cultures and ways of life, but also because of the care he shows for the disability community. Both disability and non-Christian religions are so underrepresented in entertainment that it’s nice to see some advocacy for a different point of view.
i'm so here for them both being fans of each other. You can see the genuine interest from Trevor as a fan of the show and the respect between both. Love them both
They're both africans. I'm sure Trevor feels the same with all Africans. His body language and some subtle clicks of his and some expressions are ancient in Africa and cannot escape the eyes of those who are born there
I just binge watched the first two seasons last weekend. Watching them back-to-back, you can see it getting better with every episode. The struggles and diverse views are getting very real by the second season. Can't wait for the 3rd season.
I loved the second season, as they move to meet his sister, his mother, his father and uncle, and how they are all such different people. Stereo types are destroyed when everyone has their own different voice.

Nice to see representation of everyday Muslim folks & their families on TV. I was also glad to see the beautiful MaameYaa Boafo from An African City series also stars in it!
the show absolutely leans on other TV like Atlanta, Master of None, even Bojack, and that’s totally fine. it’s incredible to see how these shows take a similar concept and make it their own. i.e. - the Juneteenth episode of Atlanta and when Ramy goes to secure funding for the Community Center

As a Muslim man myself, the scope of the show RAMY is sadly very narrow. Other than sex, It barely scratches the surface on what Muslims struggle with daily. It shouldn't be marketed as such either. This show portrays the daily struggles of a single individual, Ramy, and Ramy doesn't represent the rest of the Muslim community.
