The ending. Especially when Mario and Luigi drop kick Bowser after getting the superstar and the music swells to an epic crescendo based on the Mario theme right before they land on him.

If they go with the characters’ voices from the games, I feel like it’s not gonna fit; it would be kinda weird and annoying. And just so you know, Mario and Luigi used to speak like regular people with Brooklyn accents back in the 80s, since they’re canonically from Brooklyn, New York. Do you guys not know about the old Mario cartoons? The iconic Brooklyn Mario was from a WWE wrestler, Captain Lou Albano, and he was Italian-American. And also, this is an origin story about Mario and Luigi being in the Mario world for the first time, and they’ve just met Princess Peach; she might get kidnapped in the future.
First of all, the old Mario cartoons aren't even that well known, especially to today's generation. And second, I think it WOULDN'T be weird and annoying because Charles Martinet knows how to tone down his Mario voice when needed

Second, the Mario cartoons aren’t super well known to little babies sure. But the Mario movie was def meant to appeal to not just kids but those who grew up with Mario. And a LOT of Mario fans, even if they weren’t around for the super Mario super show know about the accents and the Mario rap.
I think Lumalee is so dark, bc she was the first prisoner. Think about it, Bowser was looking for Superstars, and what is Luma, a star. So she’s seen everything go down.

I don't know why y'all were mad about Bowser being a simp for Peach, it's basically canon. He wanted to marry her in Odyssey, and in the Paper Mario games.
I don't know if he wanted to marry her in any of the other games, but it's still canon. It's been shown even more in Mario games that he's as goofy as he is intimidating. Like that's his actual personality, the movie nailed him.

One of my favorite things about the RPGs was how much of a goof Bowser was, and pretty much all of Odyssey was centered around Bowser arranging a forced marriage for Peach.

I personally prefer the 93 one. But I also prefer when licensed films take liberties to achieve their own vision of the material. This movie was great, and definitely a better movie objectively speaking. But it played things way too safe for my tastes. I rather see something completely fresh and original with familiar source material, rather than something that's little more than a simple adaption of what I already know.

Every reactor thinks the Kong drive scene is a reference to Mario Kart when its actually a reference to Donkey Kong Country where they ride and throw bananas and barrels
And the whole DK fight is a reference to u having to defeat him in the game to have him join you on the missions.
Not only that, but there was also the video game Diddy Kong Racing. Which was also a kart game. Makes sense that the Kongs are really ingrained with Karts in their culture in the film.
Personally, i think it's a reference to both.
50:41 actually, Luigi pretty much only goes into action when his brother is in trouble. When Peach (or Pauline or Daisy) is kidnapped, Mario goes to save them. When Mario is kidnapped, it’s up to Luigi. And when Mario and Luigi are kidnapped, then it’s up to Peach (I guess we don’t know what’ll happen if all 3 are done for. DK? Daisy? Rosalina?).
Mario usually gets his bro involved in the Mario and Luigi games; and Luigi is scared to participate but goes along cus his brother needs the help.
There’s def slight characterization for their relationship in the M&L series, but also in the spin offs. I remember in Mario golf, Luigi gets his foot stepped on Mario if he wins (as in a sibling competition way). Whenever they focus on it, it can be quite cute.

Bowser’s Inside Story is actually the third entry in the Mario and Luigi trilogy. The series is incredibly underrated and unfortunately the studio that made the games went bankrupt
Yeah, if you follow Scott the Woz and watched his recent video on Commercial Failures, he pointed out that the 3DS wasn’t exciting people that much around that time since the Switch launched, and Smash Ultimate released I think a day before Bowser’s Inside Story did. So yeah, it makes sense for that unfortunate bankruptcy
Superstar Saga was a lot of fun. Good times.
The Mario & Luigi series is a pentalogy, not a trilogy. Bowser's Inside Story is the third of five entries… there were two more original games that came out on 3DS, then the remakes of Superstar Saga and Bowser's Inside Story followed in 2017 and 2019, respectively.
@@donovan802 The Mario & Luigi series was on the decline long before the Switch was ever revealed. The fourth and fifth entries cost AlphaDream a shit ton of money to make, and these entries (especially Paper Jam) sold far worse than the earlier entries in the series.
My guess is, they probably thought the remakes would be quick and easy money, but those sold even worse than Paper Jam. Bowser's Inside Story on 3DS is one of the worst selling Mario games, full stop.
1:50 You gotta remember, outside of the RPGs, characters aren’t really fleshed out too much with their backstories in the Mario universe. We were lucky to get Rosalina’s past in Galaxy. But, in all fairness, most of the Mario cast don’t really NEED backstories. Bowser just rules over his minions and his castle because, why not? And about Peach, while Daisy is far superior in attractiveness (do not fight me on this), she does house a decent amount of magic power. Bowser might find that attractive.

I don't see why DK couldn't use Mario power ups. Bowser did it in one of the 3D games. I would assume any character *CAN* use power ups if they got their hands on them and actually wanted to. DK's just never been in any of the Mario games that actually FEATURE power ups, let alone been a playable character in them. So he's never even had the chance before.
Imagine finding a character that's a made up fictional character, to be attractive could never be me 😂 because unlike everyone else I know they're only portrayed to be attractive because according to everyone looks are clearly more important than personality to ppl these days 🙄

@@guywood4955 It kinda did in the short run, cuz the saliva made the contacts connect better if they happened to be dirty or misaligned, but it also caused more damage in the long run, again because of saliva interacting with the components of the contacts, so Nintendo ended up making cartridge cleaning kits so people would stop blowing into them
Jack Black's casting as Bowser is one of my favorites in a movie inspired by a video game franchise. Right up there with Ryan Reynolds as Detective Pikachu and Ben Schwartz as Sonic The Hedgehog.
Toadette and Toadsworth were going to be in the movie according to concept art, but sadly didn’t make the final cut

Anyway, just so you both know, Nintendo officially announced that they were making movie along with Illumination all the way back in 2018, but we didn't get any actual information about it until last year. First actor/comedian Sebastian Maniscalco leaked that he would be playing "Mario and Luigi's boss Spike", AKA Foreman Spike from the NES game Wrecking Crew, then Nintendo announced the main cast of the movie: Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Sebastian again as Spike, and Charles Martinet, the voice of Mario from the video games, as a couple of surprise roles, those being Giuseppe ("Too much? It's-a perfect! WAHOO!") and Mario and Luigi's Day. From there they started dropping trailers and clips for the movie. I tell you, though, there were people STARVED for ANY information about the Mario movie for a good long while, and it was funny how quickly opinions of the project changed from when it was announced Illumination would be making the movie to actually seeing trailers and clips from the movie (people were expecting the worst from them).
Overall, the movie is great fun, and an excellent foundation for future movies. Rumor has it that a Seth Rogen Donkey Kong movie is being made, and they're undoubtedly making a sequel after how successful this one was. Question is, what will it be about? There are some blatant Super Mario Galaxy teases in this one, what with Peach's line about there being "a huge universe out there with a lot of galaxies" plus Lumalee's appearance in this movie, and there's also the Yoshi tease at the end, but there are a lot, and I mean a LOT of people who want to see Wario (and Waluigi) in the next movie. Personally, I'd like to see something involving Wart and his gang from Super Mario Bros. 2, but I know that probably won't happen. Still, the sky's the limit (or perhaps even the universe, going by Peach's line) when it comes to potential for sequels, and I'm all for it!
Also, 14:32 - You guys are thinking of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, it's a game based on a handful of bonus levels in Super Mario 3D World, originally released on the Wii U but then ported to the Nintendo Switch.

I really don't think this movie came out of nowhere. We only got any information about it relatively soon prior to its release, but rumors that it was happening had been around for years prior, from what I recall.
