Stop making this about just phones you can get in America. Literally Huawei, Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi all destroy everyone in your list and there's no debate. The fact you are only Including phones that are mainly in the American market share is so biased it makes it feel like you are being paid to make this list.
yeah specially because you can get like 3 brands in america...there's a massive western market in Europe as well that has phones from all over the world and you're ignoring that as well
I have the s24 Ultra + the Pixel 9 pro XL. I find myself using the Pixel more than the Samsung. I think it's the form factor pixel's just easier to handle.
I have the s24 ultra and the pixel 9 pro. I use my s24 ultra more and I like it more. The pixel 9 pro is a good phone as well and I use it alot as well for different reasons. There both great phones 🔥🔥🔥
I am from India and a Samsung s23ultra user. I have a theory for S24ULTRA win. We know pixel lineup is a very good phone but in hotter climate like that if India and similar regions, they run quite hot. That's the reason these tensor phones aren't quite popular here. You from android authority and website voters are mainly from colder countries and therefore dont face the pixel phone issues we have, here samsung beats all. And you can see the trend as youtube has highest Samsung votes and i am pretty sure Indian voters have mostly voted for Samsung.
Everyone is fighting for s24 ultra or 16 pro or 9 pro. And here i appreciate s24 for being small and bearer of compact form factor alive in the flagship.
I'm interested to see if Google designing and goung to TSMC for its SOC next year makes any difference in its rankings. I don't think you should combine the pro and pro XL variants. My reason being is its clear when given a large phone people choose S series Ultra most of the time.
nahhh all Pixels are very good side-phones but the latest Galaxy S Ultra and iPhone will always take that title of the best "phone" you want to use primarily. Pixels always have subpar battery and my biggest ick to them is that they're really only available in North America, snubbing the rest of the world and most of Asia
WHY? These votings are trash. Samsung and pixel arent even close to the chinese competition, they have much smaller batteries and let's be serious, 10mpx 3x in the ultimate samsung flagship is a joke, as is tensor processor at the 1000 euros or more the new pro pixels are selling at. At this point it's just meat riding and nothing more...
I think most voters are US based so don't have much exposure to Chinese brands. Tbh I would have voted for s24 for it being the most compact Android flagship. And I hope the Chinese flagship can stop making such big phones.
I love how you half-heartedly and non-explicitly admit iPhone should have been on the list all these years and wasn't just because you decided to boycott it.
User pick iphone as long as it is part of the list... You are called android authority, it doesn't matter if iphone was good or not... This is not the scope of this channel...
2:40 what about the little S24? IMO, it's actually relatively small. The Pixel 9 Pro size is far from "relatively small". I also absolutely have no idea how the Pixel 9 Pro is getting so much praise. I just bought one from years of using a OnePlus 7T Pro and if the Pixel is the POTY, damn, our bars have gotten low. Like, rock bottom low.
How come the Google Pixel was Smartphone of the year when you only talk about form factor and not features. Vanilla Android on Pixel lacks productivity features unlike One UI
Next year, I think I'm switching to Google Pro from my Samsung Ultra. In Canada, we wait months for Samsung upgrades after other countries have it, and also, I'm very disappointed that Samsung got rid of the 10x optical zoom. Hopefully, the Pixel 10 Pro will be a special unit. Wait and see.
Most of smart phone market is north america and China , it's available there. Consumer just doesn't prefer them as much. Pixels are not using top quality hardware , and price point is pretty close to top tier
Just switched from iphone 14 pro to S24 ultra yesterday. That felt like a relief to be back on android after 2 years of using ios. It wasnt that bad (after I've found a way to unlimited free sideloading) but ios 18 is beyong buggy glitched mess that made me want to throw my iphone out of the window.
Why i have trouble with Samsung and prefer the Pixel: Haptics on Samsung are terrible, feels like a cheap broken spring. Samsung UI is dated and boring. Pixel UI is fun, modern and clean. Samsung thinks we should swipe up vertically and then swipe horizontally to see apps WTF Fast updates on Pixel and Pixel drops
I can't even imagine to chooce the pixel when SD8 Gen 2 from S23 lineup last year is better than this year Pixel 9 Pro Tensor G4 like they must be joke to us... 😤 And yea i can hear the comments that pixel has pure software and blah blah but also s24 has S-pen , Best display blah blah. 🥱 The point is this WHY Google u give us a chipset that can support 7 YEARS mAjor updates and has a score that is almost HALF from the latest chipset from Apple, Snapdragon and dimensity etc/ SO shame of U.. .😡
"We can’t agree on the BEST PHONE of 2024 that you can buy in the usa" fixed for you. Any flagship from Xiaomi, Oppo, Huawei or Vivo is above the Pixel 9, Iphone 16 or Galaxy S24
Tbh, i still find the Xperia 1 VI to be one of the best phone this year. Afterall the pixel and Samsung this year is mostly just ai and ai upgrades over last year
Not many Google phone service shops around here, nor do our mobile operators offer their phones in or outside of tariffs...so that's why Samsung reins supreme. A couple of years back Huawei was on the brink of toppling Samsung (I had the brilliant Mate 20 pro), but then came the Google ban and Samsung shot up all the way...I personally would probably like Pixels, but it's not meant to be...so I am team Samsung 👍 ...also, Vivo made a big splash this year with the x200 pro, it's a shame AA didn't mention them...
Personally I would go with the Vivo x100 Ultra but it's not really available outside of Asian markets. Same with the Huawei pura 70 Ultra. Vivo has hands down the best camera out there. Then after Vivo the Pixel 9 Pro XL, the s24 ultra, and last the OnePlus 12.
I hate Ultra phones. Every device I've had the choice for, has been a small phone. Pixel 5a, 6a, (Pixel 7, I gave to my wife), and S23. Soon as reviews hit, I'm probably going for the Pixel 9a. Unless if a true Zenfone returns.
Both me and my wife switched from iPhone to pixel 9 xl. Haven’t used an android since the galaxy s8. I’m glad to be back. I’ve seen the s23 when I had my 14 max. S24 was the same, too sharp and uncomfortable, camera cutouts looked ugly, was essentially a brick, the titanium was nice, the screen was great but it didn’t look any better than the pixel 9 xl. The anti reflective was decent but didn’t really make a huge difference. Liked how the pixel felt and looked and the software for one UI isn’t all that adult looking and too much of Samsung was in it. Only thing I’ll commend galaxy for is that good lock is a great feature.
What was YOUR personal phone of the year? 👀
Mine was the Honor Magic 7 Pro
Pixel 9 Pro XL was mine. I like the size and Pixel UI the most.
Vivo X200 Pro
VivoX100 Ultra
Vivo X200 Pro
Vivo X200 Pro since it's already out and it's 2024.
No one besides random tech enthusiasts in India is going to buy that phone.
@@DrWoc ??? I have it and I'm in Texas. It's called importing just like all your goods you own are imported lmfao.
people with no life use vivo

Anything that includes Chinese spyware is automatically disqualified homie.
I agree. The Vivo cameras are some of the best out there along with Xiaomi.
yeah specially because you can get like 3 brands in america...there's a massive western market in Europe as well that has phones from all over the world and you're ignoring that as well
Orrrr, their primary audience is US citizens.
Maybe go watch a foreigner if you want non us market phones.
What if their audience is mostly north american?
I have the s24 Ultra + the Pixel 9 pro XL. I find myself using the Pixel more than the Samsung. I think it's the form factor pixel's just easier to handle.

Google pixel ❤❤❤❤
They are not best phones of the year...they are best phone in the USA this year
I'm interested to see if Google designing and goung to TSMC for its SOC next year makes any difference in its rankings.
I don't think you should combine the pro and pro XL variants. My reason being is its clear when given a large phone people choose S series Ultra most of the time.
You should start including other brands like Xiaomi. Alot of their phones are global releases, and work in the US.
you dont even have to watch the video you just its samsung, google and apple. almost as if those are the only phone companies in existence
Iphone shouldnt even be in the conversation. ANDROID authority..
I am not touching a pixel until google fixes the tensor shit show 😅.
S24u crushing everything.
So obvious
@@Kaizen_2099 Hardware wise, it has inferior cameras, smaller battery and slower charging to even Honor, Vivo, Oppo or Xiaomi phones.
Simple, Google Pixel 9 Pro.
Is a phone of all time indeed. 😂

Would be interesting to see how many of the voters actually own the device that they are voting for
S24 ultra all the way. More features than Pixel
I was going to make a joke about AA picking an iPhone as an Android phone of the year, but to No One surprise, AA is a big fat joke
S24 Ultra doubtless!!
You keep saying "if we combine the 2 google pixel phones" but never "if we combined all s24 phones"

@@himanshurajput523 I agree, US phone market sucks. I hope in the future it increases in variety, less bans and other stuff...

With all the Samsung shills I thought it would be the s24 ultra

Pixel 9 Pro it is for me this year, hands down.
Funny I was watching this channel yesterday and you guys made the Pixel 9 Pro your choice. Did something change overnight?
Anything other than “Google Pixel 8a” is the wrong answer.
Google pixel 9 pro/xl in 2024 was the best
How come the Google Pixel was Smartphone of the year when you only talk about form factor and not features. Vanilla Android on Pixel lacks productivity features unlike One UI
4:09 but it's an iPhone and therefore not an android device so why even mention it
Oppo Find X7 Ultra, Google Pixel 9 Pro XL, Galaxy S24 Ultra and OnePlus 12.

Imagine if the Pixel was widely available like the Galaxy.
Most of smart phone market is north america and China , it's available there. Consumer just doesn't prefer them as much. Pixels are not using top quality hardware , and price point is pretty close to top tier
If you merge the 9 pro and 9 pro XLyou should also merge the iphone pros ,no ?

I love the google pixel 9 it made me stop using my iPhone on a daily basis
The Pixel is simply not available in most countries. 32 out of 195 countries isn't great. Even when it is available, many of its features may not be.
Google Pixel!

Honor magic 7 pro
Oppo find x8pro
How in the world do you put an iPhone on the ANDROID AUTHORITY BEST PHONES LIST? SMH SENSELESS
Lol trash take, unfollowed. 😂 It's like Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi, Honor don't exist
"what does pixel phone not have?" Really? Last time i checked its tensor processor sucked and i guess it still does.
Google phone is certainly not beautifully designed. It doesn't have a memory card slot, which imo is its drawback.
None mayor flagship models since 2018 has this*?what do you mean?
