    Guys dont risk changing it, its much harder than on the video *when its the original glass its attached to your screen really strongly* as he was changing it not for the first time gettin it off was very easy, and btw im tellin this cuz i tried to change it, ended up bad, BUT if you Are going to change it, then warm the screen as much as you can *be caraeful not to break something with warming* but warm it up as much as possible because the glue between glass and screen is Very strong

      You just need to heat up front of your phone with hair dryer to melt the glue... then take the glue with special juice and voila XDnothing hard

      arkasza2007 special juice?

      robosanta8 why did "special juice" come off like it supposed to be something nasty?

      +enos218 its not a digitizer. its just a glass. and who cares breaking it, your already replacing it anyway. and remember he's replacing an already replaced chinese glass, so it should be easier than your very first time doing it

    No no no no no. I was cringing through this entire video. 1, DO NOT TRY TO TAKE THE SCREEN OFF WITHOUT HEATING UP THE GLUE FIRST!!! It will mess up your ENTIRE LCD screen with one wrong movement. If you don't have something to heat it up with, BORROW it from a friend. 2, never ever ever use paper towels. It's way too hard and it'll scratch the LCD like crazy. Go buy a microfiber cloth. Like one in glasses cleaning kit thing. Cheap as hell! And do not pry it off as hard as he did. Be patient. Go slow!

    • @dmak2
      @dmak2 11 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      1, He had replaced the screen once before so didn't need heat, as the video shows. 2, Paper is not harder than glass but you last point is very true. :)

    I personally wouldn't recommend using a razor blade on. The lcd is very sensitive and can easily be sliced. I personally heat it up first on a heat table then use playing cards to do this.

  • @tobyf4910

    People people people, BOTTOM line is!!!! The glass front of the outter side LCD is just tempered glass!!!! It's compressed onto the main LCD/Digitizer by strong adhesive glue... YOU NEED A HAIR DRYER!!!! WILL NOT WORK OTHERWISE!!!!! You need a very thin strong blade/or plastic tools (BE CAREFUL EITHER WAY), ALL WAYS, AND DO SOME RESEARCH, it can CRACK THE LCD if the WRONG slight of TOUCH IT ENCOUNTERS!!!! It's both FLIMSEY AND VERY VERY VERY DELICATE!!!! Pry the Home button side with sharp tool, gradually pry as your HAIRDRYER sits over it (WILL BE HOTTTTT, TAKE INTERVALS), if done properly and corrently angeled on your Glass Screen you WILL start see'ing the glue vanishing, AND THE GLASS SCREEN gradually lifting... DON'T GET TOO EXCITED AND ONE SLIP OF YOUR HAND WILL LITERALLY RUIN THE LCD (FRAGILE, FRAGILE, FRAGILE), Can be done perfectly without leaving a mark.. GO WITH THE FLOW OF THE HOT AIR MELTING THE GLUE (GRADUALLY GRADUALLY GRADUALLY, I CANNOT EMPHASIS ENOUGH)
    I DID IT PERFECTLY, 2ND TIME AS WASN'T AWARE HOW DAMN DELICATE THEY ARE!! NOW I HAVE LOVELY BRAND NEW GLASS AND SCREEN PERFECTLY WORKING.
    PLEASE NOTE; THE INSIDE OF THIS PHONE IS TINY COMPONENTS, ARE PRECISIONALLY ACCURATE TO DETAIL, I'd strongly suggest take your time, and wear rubber gloves as a precationary measure...
    KEEP THAT GLASS AND LCD CLEAN FROM DEBRIS AND OTHER SHIT!!!
    PEACE.

    Thanks for the video. I think I can manage this. Just got a Pebble Blue Sprint S3 yesterday from my uncle. Looking to replace the cracked glass, so I needed to find a few videos for reference. This one's good enough for me. It's cracked on the upper left corner, with a few other cracks floating about on the 1/3rd top half of the screen. I'm amazed at how great this phone still is. It's actually better than my cheapo Galaxy Tab 4 7 inch tablet (which is rooted and has an overclock kernel). That one came on the market 2 years after the S3! Again, thanks for the vid. Have a good one. :)

  • @marg1bella1
    @marg1bella1 9 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    This is NOT a good example! He doesn't show how to be careful with the ribbon on the bottom. If you break that off, which is easy to do, the part is $70 because you will have to replace the whole lcd/digitizer. Also, his screen came off easy because he's done it before. NOt a good example. If you peel it like he does you will have a problem. You have to heat it up. Watch a different video or you will be sorry!

    You can use LOCA (Liquid Optical Clear Adhesive) to bond the screen/glass and give it better touch sensitivity and for it to be more durable which is how it originally comes from Samsung. This method as someone stated before, is only if the optical adhesive has already been removed during a previous screen repair. This method works just as well for general use and if you are looking for a cheaper, simpler method. Nice tutorial, but just let people know that if it hasn't been replaced before, they WILL crack the LCD when pulling on the glass if they're not using a generous amount of heat. And acetone works perfectly to clean the LCD, personally I don't/wouldn't use alcohol. Just my 2¢

    not completely true. reason this lcd is already repaired and has a glass put on it. Original lcd has glue underneath the lcd which you cannot remove by using this tool only, you have to heat it up and remove it slowly but the way this guy showing. You will surely break lcd if you use this method with original lcd.

    Dislike, If you replaced your screen once then you already know how to do this. The OEM screen replacement is much more of a pain in the but to do. Please look at a different video to learn how to do it for OEM screens.
    I would also not recommend using a razor blade as a guitar pick works just as well and there is no rick of cutting yourself / accidentally scratching your digitizer.

I've seen and read accounts where the remaining glue leftover from the original screen is plenty adequate to adhere the new screen. Thanks for this video though. I did this repair first time I broke my screen and found it pretty unsatisfactory. Firstly, I cracked the new screen by pushing slightly hard in the corner with my thumb, but Secondly the touch screen behaviour was awful.
    I strongly recommend the LOCA glue repair over this. I've done it on mine and it's working great aside from a couple of small air bubbles at the edge of the screen from not following the tutorial carefully enough. Having the glue there makes it stronger and the touch screen works perfectly
    Only extra things to do are to buy some LOCA glue, a uv lamp and take the motherboard and camera out to avoid getting glue on them.

    There are a few things I would have done differently. But if you don't care, and you don't mind replacing your glass every couple of months, then this will work fine. But you can eliminate scratching by cleaning your display with a microfiber cloth instead of an abrasive paper towel. And by cleaning off all the glue residue from the previous double-sided tape, you reduce the air gap between the glass and the touch screen display, which reduces the likelihood of a repeat incident. Also, the quality of the double-sided tape determines it's thickness (ultrathin being the best) and tackiness (for better adhesion), 3M makes the best one in IMO. I would give this repair video a 4 out of 10 stars. You don't even mention the extreme difficulty of removing the glass the first time. You just talk about using a blow dryer (which should actually be a heat gun in combination with an infrared laser thermometer as to not go over 165 degrees so you don't cook the motherboard). But your way works for you for $20. I prefer only having to repair my phone once, the right way. If something's worth doing, it's worth doing it the right way.

      Hi Sherlock, since doing these i have found that as long as you dont use anything with any kind of rough edge, you will not damage the lcd on the s3. I have made up a little jig which is basically 2 screens set apart at the exact width of the one you are splitting, and superglued tostay in place, and then another to close up one end, so you have an are to sit your damed one in without moving. I then use a hotplate to get the right temp and once you manually get past the ear speaker with guitar picks you can then slip some molybdenum wire in, a quick pop back on to the hotplate to get the temp back up, and into your jig, and bingo straight through with no damage..slow down when ou get down to the home button flex..

    Thanks very much. I watched another vid - he poured Octopus glue onto the face, and used a UV light to cure it. He said glue was needed to ensure the touch would work on the keyboard, but I see no problem with your touch ability, and your method seems far less intimidating. Also I see you using ordinary rubbing alcohol instead of the special Octopus product. Again, alcohol is easier. Any comment? Bruce Thomson in New Zealand.

    • @BruceThomson
      @BruceThomson 11 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kevin, thanks, but why use glue when several other videos show various people claiming success by just using a bit of 2-sided adhesive tape round the edges? The glue may make a firmer, more reliable bond (more impact resistant), but it seems a mre delicate, fairly messy job to apply, and harder to undo when the glass eventually gets cracked again (which it probably will). What do you reckon?

    • @KevinSandersJr
      @KevinSandersJr 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First id like to clarify that I wasn't saying to specifically use octopus glue, was just saying that when I said loca I meant a product like octopus glue.
      I agree others are "having success" doing a tape only repair but it's a very poor repair job.
      1. Tape only makes terrible glare under light.
      2. Touch is much worse then a repair done using oca or loca.
      3. If your selling the repair customers WILL know the difference. I once sold tape only repairs and it was tons of unhappy people. I have since called old customers back to loca their displays and they are very pleased with the improvement.
      I remove the LCD from the frame keeps it very mess and worry free. No loca inside the phone. It's daunting at first to remove LCD from frame but with a playing card you can easily do it.
      The loca is definately a tough one for a re repair. This is also anther bonus of removing LCD. When you adhesive it back in you can make it a good seal but also leave it so you can just remove LCD from frame and repair using hotplate and molybdenum wire.
      I feel like videos like this mislead, I have encountered plenty of people who watched a video like this and broke their device right after. If someone had an already repaired gs3 and was gonna re repair it they wouldn't need this video. This is a lame way to make sales.
      My end reasoning behind loca is because it provides the highest quality. Took me a few weeks but now I don't have the mess I just have really nice repairs to be proud of.
      To the poster of this video I'm not trying to knock you man but I don't understand what your trying to accomplish with this video

    • @BruceThomson
      @BruceThomson 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kevin Sanders Thanks, Kevin - 'Very respectable explanation. I may take your advice - either simply pay someone in Auckland the quoted NZ$150 to do it properly (nobody in my town, Palmerston North does it apparently), or myself attempt the job using loca glue. In summary, I hear you when you say the result is
      - more robust and durable,
      - prevents bad glare
      - prevents degrading the touch sensitivity.
      Bruce Thomson in New Zealand.

      You would just need the front glass replacement. The LCD and Digitizer assembly costs around $80 which IMO is an easier and safer fix, but if you're feeling experimental, try buying the glass only (some people refer to it as the digitizer incorrectly), remove the glass from the LCD (With a lot of heat (heat gun/hair dryer) and carefulness with delicate tools), Clean the sticky residue, and apply glass on clean LCD.
