Indeed, but he catched up pretty quick thankfully.
The crazy thing about that moment is. If you played back then on the N64 version, that happened to alot of players back then. There was no save states, only the owl and you had to stop playing, or you played the song of time every time you did something, but too much back and forth. Imaging doing the Zora egg sidequest and you made it all the way to pinnacle Rock, and getting the last 3 eggs. On your way back to drop the eggs and get the song, it freezes (which was super common back then) and you start the game up again and your back to square one and don't even have the Zora mask or done nothing over there :( Thats the true majors mask experience lmao

Oh, that was so fine, adding the realtime counter in the postman's challenge! And I totally admire DeeBee's recovery from the software crash and swift replay for the masks, and then he kept on playing - awesome.
to be fair, the postman has a thing for bunnies. Having constant access to the timer is something that can occur naturally in the game if you exploit that weakness, so it wasnt that far a stretch for the edit.
21:26 - It's amazing to get that done without wearing the Bunny Hood! (The Bunny Hood prevents the timer from disappearing at 3 seconds.)

in-game timer though, you could still be off when trying to stop it.
(Hell, even the "real-time" timer in the video wasn't matched up to it.)

lordy, he did the 10 seconds "minigame" WITHOUT wearing the bunny ears... having them on keeps the timer from disappearing after the first few seconds, making it FAR easier rather than doing it blindly... or using an actual stopwatch
I did it without the Bunny Hood the first time I came across this minigame, I can't remember how many tries that took me, then I learned that the Hood kept the timer from disappearing lol

It's even worse on the Japanese version, where you had to time it to the hundredth of a second (at least in the original, not sure about the remake) instead of the 10th like in other releases
@@PokeMario-pk4ot Doing it without the Bunny Hood has you need to time it to the hundredth second and has the timer disappear at 3 seconds. Wearing the Bunny Hood not only keeps the timer on-screen, but removes the hundredth second counter. That hasn't changed in any version.

There is nothing in Majora's Mask that doesn't have a story. It's what makes it one of the best Zelda games.

I had a similar thing recently while playing Twilight Princess... we had a power cut and i lost all my progress in a hard dungeon... then we got it back on a couple hours later and i tried again... AND ANOTHER POWER CUT! and I hadn't saved... needless to say I gave up for the day...

After seeing all of Dee's reactions to Tingle, and now learning who Tingle's father is, I kinda want to see him play *Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland* as his next game in the Zelda universe, just for a laugh.

@@juanjosedelpinorivas7099 Oh no, my friend, they are full-length games released on the Nintendo DS. The gameplay is vaguely similar to old top-down 2D zelda games, but of course you're playing as Tingle so it ends up being quite unique.
They have such emotion in most, if not all of the stories the masks are tied to. It truly is a great game
Don't feel too bad. We've all tried swimming through the POISON SWAMP at least once.😉
Incidentally, since Majora's Mask is the Zelda game with the fewest dungeons (aka fewest bosses aka fewest Heart Containers) it's also the Zelda game with the highest count of Heart Pieces, clocking in at around 50 something pieces
Literally every side quest, every hole on the ground, every chest...either you get a heart piece or 100 rupees, some of them having 200. The problem for me was the lack of bottles for the eggs but that was solved in the remaster with 6 iirc. I guess it's the price we have to pay for the one year development, which was impressive to be honest.
Including Twilight Princess's unfortunate piece-per-container ratio?

@@AdalHRivera yeah, and the dungeons compensate a lot the time invested on them. City in the Skies is absolutely incredible, the quest to look for bugs, the poes, the 50 floor dungeon...That game is a masterpiece.

with a Bottle so it could be gotten earlier, while adding in a new 7th Bottle overall.
Protip: If you empty a jar of bugs, you can capture all three of the bugs that are released in other jars.
Exponential bugs
In general, you have to either beat minigames twice in zelda to get all the permanent rewards. In Majora's Mask, some of them are "Beat every day" instead.

It can? It only stole my bottles on the N64 version... maybe I was "lucky" it wasn't my sword

I swear having your game crash, or accidentally turning it off, or the game gets unplugged. Or whatever happens after you make a ton of progress is an inevitable part of the Majora’s Mask. I have felt your exact pain when your game crashed.
There's still some stuff to do in the inn, including something with the middle brother... And the mask does have a use with the other brothers, just not with the race...
Oof, that crash. I can only imagine the anguish that was to go through live. Thank gosh it wasn't the original version where saving any time with the feather statues wasn't a thing! Good on you for doing it all again like a trooper. That editing was hilarious, too. ^^

Several of the Indie Gogo's songs are taken from the Fallen timeline, including the Ballad of the Wind Fish. Link's Awakening came out before OoT and had a suprisingly large impact on the series over time (such as bomb arrows, Marin and Tarin being reimagined as Malon and Talon).
Bomb arrows in Link's Awakening was a glitch, which just makes their legitimate inclusion in some future games that much more interesting. It's an ascended glitch. Speaking of it as a glitch, I forget; was it patched in the deluxe version or not? I think it was but I forget. Either way, is it in the Switch version?
It's just a shame that the Indigogo's Ballad of the Windfish shares only the name with the actual song and isn't a completely different tune.

@@devonm042690 it was a minor glitch that was kept in, but other glitches like the map skip were removed in DX.
@@devonm042690 there's lots of examples of glitches becoming legitimate parts of games and their descendants. Top two that spring to mind are:
Minecraft creepers. While their full iteration didn't come about as the result of a glitch, they weren't a thing until Notch accidentally swapped the height and length of a creature which resulted in the creeper's distinctive tall and thin with four legs look. Notch liked the look so much he designed a new mob around it, and that later became creepers.
Also, in the Civilization games: Ghandi being a nuke crazy tyrant. This one originated in one of the early games. Each leader had a hidden "aggressor" stat that determined, on a scale of 1-10, how aggressive and prone to violence a particular leader is. Ghandi started at the minimum of 1 (or was it zero? Can't remember, but I think it was 1) anyways, when a civilization adopted democracy, it lowered their aggressor stat by 2. The game couldn't handle negative numbers for that variable, so when Ghandi adopted democracy, his aggressor stat rolled back to 255 (remember, the original "max" was 10) so he essentially became the worst kind of tyrant and started nuclear apocalypse on the daily. The fans of the games thought it was so hilarious the developers kept Ghandi's fondness for nukes as an easter egg in later titles of the series.
Im sure there's many more, but those are the two that are probably the most well known, and the ones that I immediately thought of.

Every mask has a use. Of course the fox mask is the best one. The troupe leader's mask use is really bad though. You get some exposition at the gorman ranch. But it's really only useful when you do the milk cart quest. When you wear the mask while you ride the cart to town, the gorman brothers will not attack but only ride behind you harmlessly. But since you needed to have done that to get the mask in the first place it's moot. It does help with getting the other "reward" though after you already have the cow mask.

It's even cheaper if you talk to her as a Zora.
But the prizes also change based on who you talk to her as,

That big bird is the best way to max out your bank account for a heart piece. First get the giant wallet so you can carry 500 rupees, then kill it with 5 or 6 fire arrows, Goron roll back to bank and repeat. So quick!
I used to kill the Dodongos in the northern exit during the day and the skulls with the light arrows. You can get lots of rupees that way but the bird is really fast giving 200 like that. I don't remember if the bird is also available at night but if it's there then saving up 2000 rupees or more in 1 cycle is definitely possible and the bank's grand price is at 5000. Was it a heart piece or a bottle?
@@juanjosedelpinorivas7099 Pretty sure it's a heart piece. Dodongos are great too but once you can carry 200+ rupees and have fire arrows you can get it done pretty early in the game. You can actually kill the bird once, leave the area by going into Milk Road, come back and kill it again so you have 400 rupees. You can collect more on the way to and from the bird by Goron rolling through all the shrubs in south Termina field. And with time slowed down you can knock it out in like half a day or less, still a bit of a grind but not too bad.
You never disappoint. THAT INTRO THO!! These videos are glorious.

The thing about horse racing in Zelda....never EVER use up all the carrots (or spurs for later games like BotW). ALWAYS leave 1 carrot minimum.

Ah the pain of lossing progress. Don't worry we've all been there. In the original N64 only the song of time completely saved everything, the owl was just a temporary save so if the game froze or turned off you'd loose everything up til the last time you played the song of time. It really sucked. That's why it was always best to stick to one task at a time then reset and then go onto the next task. The remake makes things way easier.
1:01, I've never liked that dang bird. Has so much health and steals your stuff if you're not careful. But at the same time, it's so rewarding when you do defeat him.
5:40, I've always found this to be a reliable money-making minigame in the original N64 version. And the time limit is why. I've also found it easier in the first day than the other two days.

Also I feel bad that you lost all that progress and having to redo it just because that grotto of 20 rupees caused Citra to die.
I think any significant change, like a scene transition, would have caused that, in this case.
This is a problem very likely caused by how he used his Save States.
The memory never had a chance to properly clear itself,
so everything kept building up until it just... overloaded.
this was one of the first games i ever played and also my first zelda game
I used to save it all the times like in the ahooting game i even saved it after getting one target.It frequently crashed whenever i jumped in one of these holes.....it was frustrating but i loved the game so much that i did didn't even care if i had to do it all over again.

I think you would like MajorLink's TH-cam channel, he does Zelda animations that are extraordinary, he just finished up a three part animation that pertains to Ocarina of Time, and Majora' s Mask.
Yes! Masked Courage is my favorite, but his animation has improved greatly since then.
@@ChristyTina22 I just started watching Masked Courage, and I see what you mean. His animations have became a lot smoother and flow better. He really is good at what he does, I cannot wait to see what kind of animator he grows into as he progresses, I think advancements in technology will help greatly as well, but the real beauty is in his skill, and timing with the characters that really capture the emotion that he wants to get across, he just knows how to capture that incredibly well.

actually, gaining 5 rupees interest from 1000 rupees gives u a five percent interest rate. nothing to sneeze at

The minigame portion of this video reminds me when I did all of the archery minigames in both Ocarina of time and Major's mask while playing them online with friends, it definitely drove me slightly crazy

When I was playing this game on its GameCube version it crashed so many times, and the save system was no where near as good as the 3DS version. I had to redo whole temples and side quests, so I feel your pain DeeBee. 😔 You’re a champ for going back and doing all that stuff over again right away, I usually had to take a break for a few days or weeks before I was ready to try stuff again.

I do think it's a bit of a shame that they changed the Garo's Mask for the remake, but it did make more sense in terms of how you use it later. I did like the hooded design of the OG mask for the Gorman Brothers parts, it fits them more. Shame that they couldn't have included both masks somehow.

Lets see there's one mask in north part of clock town at night on the first day
there's one considering Kafei's disappearance, this one being the longest
One's in a music box in Ikana
One is in possession of a dead general
One is sold at the pawn shop on the third night ( I believe)
One is in a stone tower
like you said the mailman has one but need to do something first to get it
During Kafei's disappearance quest, meet a shady man at 1pm on the third night in the back room
the very last one needs all the other masks to be obtained
hopefully my clues weren't too on the nose
None of that matters now, he's already finished the game by this point.
He's often much farther ahead on stream than these videos show, so most
hints/tips people might try to give him here aren't likely to be useful I'm afraid.
Besides, I don't think he'd want to use random tips from the comments anyway.
His goal has been to do as much of this blind as he can... only asking for tips from his mods
if he gets stuck for a moderate amount of time & wants to move along for the sake of the stream.
