Yeah it sounds like he moved celebration up a step so the keys would be the same but I wonder if Eddie blatantly ripped this off or did it subconsciously. I never put two and two together but that riff is closer to Celebration than Ice Ice Baby is to Under Pressure lol
Michael Anthony is sadly underrated when it comes to his harmonies and background vocals. When he was no longer in VH, the band lost that layer and the music def suffered for it. I'll never understand why he's not given enough credit for it!!
I saw Kool and the Gang open for VH in Chicago in 2012. When the bill was announced, I thought that was a really weird combination. Nope, it was fantastic. They played a 40 minute set, closing with Jungle Boogie, Ladies Night, Get Down On it and finally Celebration. And that VH crowd was going crazy, singing along at full volume. 10/10 for Bill, as always.
When I first heard about that tour, I joked that if they didn't both take the stage and do a mashup of Celebration and Best of Both Worlds, it would be a wasted tour.
Bill has created a whole new art form with these brilliant mash ups. No one else comes close to his song choices and editing skills. This should be a recognised musical genre.
@@vadimastprojects8770 Well, Vadi(I can call you Vadi, yes? Well, it doesn’t consist of one man. Wax Audio probably made the best mashup of all time - Bee Gees and Pink Floyd. His Bee Gees and AC/DC is also great

@@christianman73 Had a girlfriend, whose taste in music was extremely middle of the main stream road... Then I gave her Another Mother Further. I never saw anybody deep dive into soulfunk as fast as her after that 😁
I was almost certain there were at least one or two VH songs with horns until I read your comment and the first song that came to mind was "Shoot It" by David Lee Roth. So I scrolled through the VH library and it seems you're right... interesting. Clarinet even, but no horns!
It's not just the fact that he can masterfully mash the melody of the two song, but the ability to actually make the lyrics make sense as well is a whole other level entirely. Blows me away every time. 👍👍
... and the ability to find THE other song that will be the perfect complement to the first one ! Bill McClintock is a living juke-box, a doctor in rock knowledge ! 😇
Bill took two songs I don't really care for, took their best bits, and mixed them into a seamless banger of its own. Aaand now it's in my head. Awesome.
David Lee Roth's uncle owned a nightclub in New York where Kool and the Gang got their start. It was called the Cafe Wha and the band called themselves the Jazz Birds. Otherwise, it makes totally no sense that Kool and the Gang opened up for Van Halen's tour a back in 2012.
Andrew WK actually has a really interesting story about the first time he played in front of a crowd. It was at the Cafe Wha. I won't ruin the story in case you wanted to look it up but it's actually worth listening to. He's a great storyteller and while the story is kind of hard to listen to because of the embarrassment factor It's oddly wholesome. (Actually now that I think about it, I wonder if the guy in the story that he talks about was David Lee Roth's uncle...if so he never knew or didn't mention it)
Not sure if this happened before but I was at Sammy,s show in Tampa last Sunday and they mixed celebrate into the middle of best of both worlds. Bill you've have become a runaway train. Thank God!!
This mashup has been living in my head rent-free for YEARS! It's about time someone realized this. This is the quintessential mashup for anyone living in St. Louis - Cardinals' early 80s World Series victory song + Sammy Hagar. They just love Sammy over in St. Louis. One of Bill’s finest to date - the editing and mixing speaks for itself; but the track is just so damned feel-good, the vibe and overall message so positive! I have a huge grin on my face 😂 +1 for the Roth cameo!!

This dude has the weirdest talent I've ever heard of having a knack for mixing songs together that have no business being mixed together. And it just works.
Best part of this video, is the fact that when I finally saw VH live in 2012, the opening act was... yep, you guessed it! Kool And The Gang... 😂
Wow, that's Kool!
So, you're saying they could've done this live? 🤯
@WonkoTheSaneUK well, it was DLR on the stick, so...
Yup. Nashville. Saw that same show.
