When I saw this, I said no way it could work, yet I discovered this to be a superior effort. My hard-to-please friend Hilario found it truly hilarious. He also pointed out that many Brenda Lee fans do not realize that she was a big AC/DC fan from early on after touring in Australia in the 1970's.
I have been raving about Bill for years, and have made it my personal mission to spread his genius among as many people (particularly my students) as humanly possible. This latest mashupiece proves why he is the master of the craft, as everyone else uses Back in Black, but he not only chose a different song; he mashed it with such a different song/genre.
The Brenda Lee Metal Christmas album always ranked right up there with Pat Boone and No More Mister Nice Guy. I mean, when you can get Dio to sing backing vocals while you cover his track….. That album might be the very birth of mashup music. Merry Christmas, Bill!

I listen to those others and just shake my head at their attempts. You, Bill, ARE the BEST at this!!!!

This is pure genius! LOL! I am so enjoying your Mashups! I love how seamless they are! So many of them look like they're sharing the same stage! Thank you for your hard work in putting these together... I know it can't be easy! 👍
One thing that's really cool for Brenda Lee is that "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree" is currently the #1 song on the Billboard chart (her 3rd #1 of her career)! This makes her the oldest artist (male or female) to top the chart. The song was originally #1 in 1958, but that was on Billboard's separate "holiday" chart, with those songs not being eligible for the Top 40. Billboard modified that rule in 2012, which is also why Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" has been #1 for four of the last five years during the holiday season.
@@drewzalo Maybe the Top 10 matters. Whenever a new album that hits the Top 3 on the album charts has eight or nine songs in the Top 40. It less to do with radio play as it does with digital sales.
@@drewzalo I kinda think they might, I really don't know for sure. Back in the late 90s/early 00s, thanks to state-of-the-art CD burning technology, I made CD sets with every #1 hit from 1950 to 99 (separated by decade), so obviously I put a lot of stock in them. For some reason around that time, I found myself not liking a majority of what hit the charts (then and since) and I lost interest in making the sets. I can only conclude that either the music dramatically changed or I just got old without knowing it. 😆 (Apologies for rambling on, I definitely didn't answer your question very well.)
Weird, I had one of those collections of every Billboard Top 100 (& Top 30 for those years prior), & didn't like most of the top songs for any year, ever. I think the standout for me, from the oldies, was _If I Knew You Were Comin' I'd've Baked a Cake._ Most of the top selling '70s & '80s & even '60s & '90s stuff, was pablum or dreck.
Definitely a fan of your mashups. The way you seamlessly mix them together is totally amazing! This creation however, is clearly the capstone. Your handiwork on it is unbelievable. The way you have taken two polar opposites and made it work, blows my mind. I think the highlight is hearing ACDC sing at this tempo. I especially love the very ending and how well it works.
My music theory is very, very rusty but it appears that you did some modal magic by taking an ominous minor key melody and playing it over a different major key rhythm. Thus making AC/DC sound...dare I say...holly and perhaps even jolly! You truly are a wizard
Keep in mind every major key has a “relative minor” key, where the notes comprising each key are actually the same. Eg the notes that make up C major are exactly the same as those that make up A natural minor. Same for F major and D minor etc. jump down a minor third from any major key and you’re there (only works for natural minor). That could be what he did here.
@@Dasein23 If you did that the melody would still stress the "wrong" notes. Luckily with modern software it's easy to maintain the same tonal centre and just pitch shift the relevant notes - minor thirds into major thirds etc.
