      I just disagree with the lady on the point that companies are taking steps to protect us consumers. Companies are not doing enough to protect the people. There is a genuine threat and fear to consumers that there information is not safe. Also, all the new tech which have computer technology need to have some kind of regulation of protection which should be installed in it.

Then if the need exists to use a remote service and can't be self hosted, use only a completely transparent service, that tells you everything it's recording and why, and to whom it gives access to that data and why.

      Omar Radee yea it would be possible but you would notice it your battery draining faster and your mobile data being used up also I’m pretty sure by now someone would’ve found out about it by monitoring the network traffic sent or by looking at background processes just like always on camera spying on you would eat up your battery and data in minutes

      I trust that an iOS device isn't always listening to me 24/7 unless I've given the OS or an app permission to do so.
      I do NOT trust Android to do the same.

    • @andrebasden
      @andrebasden 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      iOS and Apple generally goes to great lengths to protect your privacy. Listening / Recording / Storing are three vastly different things, too. Even if you set your iOS device to "Listen" 24/7 it doesn't always record, but rather waits and listens for triggers. If it hears a trigger, it may start recording. To make this simpler I'm going to include in "Recording" that it's also sharing it with Apple servers that might then convert that to text, and actionable commands for Siri. In this case it is being transmitted, but it is encrypted end-to-end and neither anyone at Apple, nor do any third party companies ever get access to that information. More on this later. Lastly Storing... I don't believe iOS/Apple stores any of your voice recordings for longer than it takes to process and send it back. If I am wrong about this, that data would still be stored and encrypted behind *your* personal encryption keys, be it your passcode or your Apple ID password. Likely behind two factor authentication too.
      Finally the biggest, most important point, is that Apple *does not sell your information* or make money off of it in any way. There's some level of data collection that happens as far as location services, but this is done with differential privacy measures that make it impossible to discover any one persons contributions to this data pool or learn anything about them. It just passes on data like "At this location, connected to this cell tower, I saw these WiFi and Bluetooth networks in this direction with this signal strength" and that's about it.
      Right now Apple is the only major tech company that cares about your privacy and seeks to sell products without selling customer data.

      What's wrong? The Ford pickup looks strong and beefy.

      They're making too many $'s off of it just sitting there to get rid of it

      There will still be a need for pickup trucks in the future. Let's not forget there are carpenters, contractors, electricians, and many other professions that rely on vehicles like this.

      Without the truck there's no way that the series would happen cause Ford's sponsoring this

      ironically the video is sponsored by Ford, they believe the home of the future comes with a diesel truck.

    Love tech. But tying it to home utilities and functions is just terrifying and seems unnecessary considering IOT just increases risks of being tracked, recorded and hacked for $$

    SOLUTION: Autonomous homes. Homes that have a server built-in to the homes, therefore controlled by the homeowner.

    No actual follow up solutions at the end? Really? Like simply even changing the default DNS on your router to filter malicious websites. Applying a newish 3M film on your windows to make them impossible to break & energy efficiency. I applaud the concern for security in the episode, but not enough solutions.
