@MiddleLoop Video & Photography I know it can be done I just don't know how to do it I need to see a video of someone else doing it then I can do it I miss my mavic 2 it was so easy this mavic 3 is very difficult
I do have some experience with webcasting. I wonder if OBS has an android version or a product like it. TH-cam would need to see the feed from the drone as a “webcam”. And then what about audio. OBS is a virtual switcher. Then I’d be worried about cpu. I think I would want the RC Pro to be pretty much dedicated to flying the drone. I could see taking the HDMI output into a HDMI to USB converter into a laptop. Then it’s seen as a webcam. Solves the audio problem too. Sorry, I’m thinking out loud.
Hi, great review. Can I record audio at the same time while screen recording? Are there a built in mic on the DJI RC Pro or I can connect an external mic via USB C / Bluetooth? Thanks.
I just came across DJI’s official word on the subject and remembered your question. www.dji.com/mobile/rc-pro/faq they say, “DJI RC Pro has a built-in speaker and no microphone. For phone calls and recording, it supports an external microphone through the USB Type-C port.” I’ll have to play with it.
I finally got around to testing the RC Pro with the only USB Mic I own. This is the Yeti Blue USB Microphone ( amzn.to/3vOloNP ). This is a desktop mic, which of course you'd never use it in the field because of it's size, but I thought it would help me to start troubleshooting the problem I've seen reported over and over again regarding USB mics over-feeding the input of the RC Pro. Unfortunately, it works perfectly (unfortunate because I can't fix it if it's not broken). This mic has a gain control, which does change the recording level on the RC Pro. If I crank it to the max, it does "Slightly" over feed the recording. When lowered to the minimum, is is "slightly" low... Mid-Range is perfect. This makes me wonder if DJI has fixed the problem via a firmware update and now most USB mics will work... I'll see what I can find out.
Ah. Sorry. Yes, you are right, the RC Pro caches the video recorded on the drone. Just when recording. The cache files are HD quality vs ultra high on drone. It does not cache the photos captured. I’m just finishing a video on posting from the RC Pro to Social Media direct and I use the cache files to do it. Should be done next week.
Have you found a way to screen shot the RC Pro’s screen WITHOUT all the telemetry info? When I have my RC Pro connected via HDMI to a Djero device to broadcast live from the drone at the TV Station I work, I can go into the menu and turn off Screen Mirroring and select Liveview only and that will not show all the telemetry on screen. This does not work for screen shots and would like to find a workaround if there is one.
@@middleloopvideo that’s what I ended up doing. I have the Air 2S and even though you can zoom the lens, you can only do it in video mode with that drone. My thinking was I could zoom the lens in video mode then take a screen shot but all the telemetry info will also be on the screen and I wouldn’t want that. The only way I see to get around it is to shoot video then take a still from a frame of video.

@@middleloopvideo I agree. I'm on a Mac and wanted to access my Flight Records by moving them from the internal storage to the SD Card. Could someone please tell me whether the new RC pro controller has screen casting configurable/available in the drop-down menu? Flying with an iPad/RC-N1 combination, I can tether to a phone for Internet service while simultaneously mirror casting to a second / larger screen. (Either by using Apple TV receiver, another iPad OR even an android device. (Mirror casting to android devices require another piece of software/app to make this work.)
I haven't seen any references to be able to screen cast natively from the RC Pro. You might want to reach out to DJI support and ask them... I have had very good experiences with chat on their site.

Smart Control is way easier to use by screen recording on SD directly. Now I do not know why RC Pro need an SD slot, it's awkward enough to record on internal memory then transport it to SD.
I checked my Smart Controller and don't see an option to capture screen recording to the MicroSD card. I set it as the default storage device but screen recordings continue to go to internal memory. Can you tell me what you did to get screen captures to go to the SD card? Thank you.

Good idea for a future video. I’ll need to research as it’s not something I have ever looked into or attempted.
Working on that video now
Could someone please tell me whether the new RC pro controller has screen casting configurable/available in the drop-down menu?
Flying with an iPad/RC-N1 combination, I can tether to a phone for Internet service while simultaneously mirror casting to a second / larger screen. (Either by using Apple TV receiver, another iPad OR even an android device. (Mirror casting to android devices require another piece of software/app to make this work.)
I haven't seen any references to be able to screen cast natively from the RC Pro. You might want to reach out to DJI support and ask them... I have had very good experiences with chat on their site.
@@middleloopvideo I found this video which shows native casting via the OLDER (v1) smart controller: th-cam.com/video/OU3PxTDE_Lo/w-d-xo.html
@@swoopix-hovernh It would be great if he showed where he "discovered" screen casting on the older Controller.... then I could look to see if it exists on the new RC Pro. I've looked and haven't found it.
@@middleloopvideo my thoughts exactly!
Smart Control is way easier to use by screen recording on SD directly. Now I do not know why RC Pro need an SD slot, it's awkward enough to record on internal memory then transport it to SD.
Thank you. I’ll have to check it out
I checked my Smart Controller and don't see an option to capture screen recording to the MicroSD card. I set it as the default storage device but screen recordings continue to go to internal memory. Can you tell me what you did to get screen captures to go to the SD card? Thank you.
Does it has audio option recording?
Whay audio are you wanting to record? Microphone or Device Audio ?
@@middleloopvideo mic, so when you do screen record, as well as mic
Yes. But, the RC Pro doesn’t actually have a mic. We’re planning on doing a video on just that. You’re going to need an external mic. We’ve tested a wired lavaliere
amzn.to/3HgVIPf
And a wired desktop mic
amzn.to/3mtwyTU
Both are usb mics. The desktop (yeti) required a usb a to c adapter
amzn.to/3mnJxX8
We’re waiting on the DJI wireless mic to test that before producing the video.
Sorry for the long answer.
@@middleloopvideo already done test with BOSE bluetooth headset with no result, so if you have chance please test it with bluetooth as not many wants additional wires on thats device, tnks
I have tried Bluetooth earbuds. I was able to hear audio from the RC Pro but it didn’t use the earbuds as a mic. I have also heard others who tried a Bluetooth mic but couldn’t get it to work.
How can you transfer your shots to a phone or iPad?
Great idea for a future video. I assume you mean transfer Photos and Videos from the drone (not screen captures from the RC Pro). Thank you for the suggestion!
Yes, that is exactly what I mean
Via WiFi ? Transfer
Yes. I assume you are suggesting a video on transferring photos and videos recorded on the M3 itself via Wi-Fi.
@@middleloopvideo yes that is correct
@@billmckim532 I’ll have to double check. But, I believe Wi-Fi transfer is one of the features that will become available in the January firmware update
@@middleloopvideo ok thanks
The latest firmware update did indeed enable this feature. It’s called “Quick Transfer”. I’ve successfully used it to copy files off the Mavic 3 onto my iPhone. Maybe I should do a video? 😀
It’s a shame that a flagship unit like this comes without preloaded maps like any other GPS navigation units these days.
I don’t see a purpose of this if I still have to have a phone with me every time I fly.
You have a point. But it doesn’t bother me. I need to check B4UFLY / Aloft anyway and geofencing needs the latest for TFRs, etc.
Really, if I want to copy to an SD card I should first make sure that there’s an SD card there. Come on, man. Firstly, I doubt people who would buy one of these are that stupid. And secondly, I doubt people are that stupid you need to tell them what you told them. You said something earlier too that was a bit weird. But other than that a pretty unique video. I like your style. Good job!
Thanks!
