This one video could completely change peoples lives and get them high paying dream jobs or help them be the best pianist on the planet - but it wont. Sadly, 99% of TH-cam folks will get bored quickly with this video and stop it because its not "one weird trick" nor is it "one easy secret" to success or a pill that gives you an instant superhero physique. This is the ADHD Instagram era where people get bored if a workout video is over 15s long. Video makers no pander to the attention deficit and simply give little information snippets. The problem is, success cannot come from disjointed snippets. In fact, often a little knowledge is worse than no knowledge. Success in fitness, health, and life itself requires a integrated, well thought out plan.

Hey Jay! The "mission statement" from 7 habits I personally think is weird. In that book, I skip all the fluff in the beginning chapters and head right to the meat in the later chapters :)

You have a very caring tone in your voice that I enjoy. Things today always have to be so stylish and perfect, which doesn't really reflect what humans are like. It's best to keep it honest and simple and show empathy and sympathy towards each other. You see so many trying to push others down just to feel better about themselves.

    1. To know the difference between being busy and being productive.
    2. To make a to do list for the day within an hour of waking up and before any glowing screens unimportant activities.
    3. Having an organizational system/approach that works for you and tge necessary tools.
    4. Ensuring that only the very important things for your goals remain on your daily to do list.
Thanks Scooby I gave this a try and I'm noticing big chanes and my confidence growing. Want to let you know that I appreciate you have been a n inspiration and role mod for me and I find many of your videos entertaining especially the cooking ones.

"If I cross all those off, then I am a failure" This was the best takeaway for those who worry about not completing and therefore dont make lists. There is always that worry about completing everything lest you feel the burn of failure....Lists like this are meant to structure and aim your day not govern it! Great video Scooby

Scooby you are such a beautiful man. I love these "simple philosophy" type of videos. Your style is so simple and basic and in this world where we are pressured to always produce and consume and stress, your videos are a dose of everyday Zen. Its quality nobullshit style attitude is refreshing. Thankyou this has been my favourite video of your this year alongside the caption of a video you did in china titled "anyworkout is better than no workout." I am a big fan. Keep doing your stuff. Legend.

    • @scooby1961
      @scooby1961  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Thanks Jack! This video was actually an Instagram fans idea and I have to say, it clearly reasonated with people and I underestimated the interest it would draw and how much it would help people. I know you are onto something here with the "simple" line. These days, people get so bogged down that something so simply that it makes a light bulb go off in their head as a simple way to improve their lives is very valuable. I need to think of more of these simple vids. I am actually almost done with a video in this vein about why I love biking trips like the one I just did from Vienna to Zurich - spoiler alert, its all about zen.

Hey Scooby, I’ve been a long time subscriber. I think you were my only subscription for a long time actually. Lol
Anyway, I wanted to suggest a topic for a video.
You said here that making your bed is a huge waste of time. I thought that was not only funny, but I agree with you. I’ve always said that.
A lot of people in the “success” industry tell you to make your bed first thing in the morning because it sets your mindset in accomplishing things for the day.
I’d like to see a video where you talk about why you think that’s a waste of time.
You could do a video like “10 things you’re doing that are a huge waste of time.”
I think that would be really fun to make for you and interesting to watch for us.
Thank you for continuing to put out great content.
    You the man!

Good video. I lead a very busy lifestyle, and if I didn't have plans and systems and coping mechanisms to bounch back when things go awry, I would crumble (experience has shown me this time and again). One rule for life I like to follow is, for the mundane but necessary aspects of life, find ways to make them as quick and easy as possible while simultaneously giving yourself as few things to think about as possible. As someone with ADHD, this is especially important--I need to be able to focus at maximum capacity on what's important to me, and I can't afford to waste a single bit of energy or brainpower on something that distracts from that. For example, I keep a multi-bag laundry organizer on the side of my bed at all times, that way all my dirty clothes are sorted into their respective loads from the start, and if the bags fill up, I am reminded to do laundry every time I see them. It's as effortless as brushing my teeth every morning, and the more life goes on, the more the little things like that start to matter.

Too true Scooby. Lists are the key to getting things done, simple pen and paper. Problem is most people use their phones as their alarm. So it goes off they reach for it and end up wasting their morning checking out rubbish on Instagram, Facebook etc. Best thing to do is leave the phone out of the room and forget about checking it until later.

Have you tried a Kanban board instead of chalk board?
It improves your flow and task transparency throughout your goals.
You have your backlog column for long term goals. (Month or year)
You have your ToDo column for short term goals. (Day)
You have your Work in Progress column .
You have your Done column, so you know what you have finished. That increases your motivation.

No, I love the feel and sound of chalk. I love the satisfaction of hearing the whoosh of crossing somthing off. I love how silky smooth the chalk is.

In that case, you need to be in bed by 8:30, lights off at 9pm so that you can get up at 5am and make your todo list. Alles Klar son?

What a coincidence my #1 item on my daily todo list is also reproduction. We have a very similar agenda!
