It was so much fun early on because her enthusiasm and joy was so infectious and there was this innate ability that was there from the beginning. But year after year, she has learned so much that she is unquestionably a pro level musician at this point. And other high end musicians also say this. There is a great future for her.
When Yoyoka plays solo doing her covers, she is the center of the song, and when she plays with a band, she's just part of the band. Notice how she holds back to be just like the original when playing live with a band. I love all Yoyoka's videos, but the covers she does solo, which allows her to show her full joy, and her own take on it, are my favorite.
It is interesting to see her demeanor change between a live peformance to her cover videos. When she is with the band or in a studio, her demeanor is all very professional. No smiles, no joking around. In her covers, you can see the enjoyment on her face. i am sure she loves doing both, just interesting to see the difference.
I think sometimes we forget that Yoyoka is only 12. She has plenty of time to try many things. Playing covers with a live band is valuable experience and she’s doing that far earlier than most musicians get the chance to. For now I’m just greatfull that I get to see this amazing person perform in any capacity.❤️🥁
Well said. She has a lot of time to gain more experience. And it will be some time until she reached the levels of Tamu, Senri Kawaguchi, Kanade Sato, Junna and more.
Playing in your parents house or a studio is one thing, transitioning to preforming live and learning to have fun is what being a musician is all about. Glad to see her just getting out and doing it.
I'm happy Yoyoka is getting some band experience playing live, but I have way higher hopes for Yoyoka than her being a drummer in a cover band. I want to see her playing with other gifted musicians making original music.
Agree 100%. She has shown what she can do in videos she has posted of jam sessions she has done with other gifted musicians. Her time will come. I can't wait!
Relax..... she's only 12! She has a great life ahead of her. Even at this age, she already has some original stuff under her belt (although, for some reason, they're not that popular... yet...). I have no doubts that she will make more original songs in the future. By that time, the world will sit up and listen.

It’s obvious, to me anyway, that these drums are inferior compared to her own kit but she made it work. She still put her own touch (simultaneous double kick) that I thought from her original cover of this song, enhanced it for the better. I think it’s one of her best covers with the clarity and control, it’s top notch. Thanks Yoyoka for posting this. You’re such a pro. 👍🏼🥁🤘🏼

I actually think it's more "rock & roll" in a situation like this. Playing in less than optimal conditions gives the playing an edge that optimal conditions may not (having said that, her 12th birthday studio session was magic on another level). Rock needs a bit of a rough edge, it shouldn't be super-slick and slide down the gullet too easily, so to speak. And that is why this particular session shows Yoyoka to be a true rock & roll warrior - just give me any old drum kit and a band and I'll burn the house down.

She is a master at tuning her drums for the exact sound she wants to achieve, and nailed it in that version. Better than the original live version from Cream. No disrespect intended to the great Ginger Baker.
Nah, she does not need to hit harder. She should not outright outshine her members. Remember, this is not her family doing the sound engineering, so the quality that we hear in this video is bound to be different. I personally think it's fine, and that the audience in Crossroads are hearing it better than we are.

I was not trying to take anything away from this version, in this setting. As good as this is, her home studio version is better. One of her best covers. That was the first cover she did, I believe, after she got her green drum heads.
I think she knows what she's doing. She's showing respect for her elders in the band by not trying to upstage them. She could easily take it to another level if she felt like doing that.
Ok, Yoyoka was brilliant and the band was tight and the vocals were excellent. But where oh where was the self absorbed twenty minute guitar solo followed by the 30 minute drum solo? I'm sorry, but this is just not vintage Cream. And besides which nobody was drunk and they all ended on the same beat. And yes, I'm fully aware that Yoyoka is 12 years old but c'mon, where's the authenticity people...... Just in case somebody thinks I'm serious, chill out.

Did you watch the whole session live? The drumkit was not up to her power and had to be repaired twice.
