CARNAL gets a 7 out of 10 from me. Maybe the focus was more on the features? While the rest was solid/good. Favourite Song: Angel Song/Down the River(my mind just wants to listen to catchy tunes sometimes xD) Least Favourite: Give it Time Do i like it more than Spirits? Already answered ;) I think so far, even "Stories We Tell Ourselfs" is above this.
I liked Spirits more than this but also bevause i fpund the band throigh that Album, from the songs on this Album excluding the singles i felt run for your life and existencial dread the most
Give it time I think is one of the deepest positive masterpieces I've ever heard of a song. Once again from them I balled my eyes out the first time I heard it. That and Freefall as well, they take my life and write it down in such a lyrical way, I don't need to say anything, just listen to the music ya know, Phenomenon!
All of your critiques make sense. I wish there was a different ratio of songs to interludes, however, I still really liked the album. I also feel like the feature on “STUCK” was a little unnecessary. However, here are a few of my favorite parts of the album: 1. The ending actually transitions into the intro to the album, which means you can actually listen to the album on loop. 2. “DOWN THE RIVER” and “BLAME IT ON THE DRUGS” are my two favorites. “BLAME IT ON THE DRUGS” specifically hit me really hard. 3. All the interludes are named after categories on their SPIRITS test, which is a fun little thing you can do. 4. “RUN FOR YOUR LIFE” actually makes a callback to “This Is The Time” when it talks about your heart sinking in the ocean, which was cool. 5. I’ve gotten around 6-7 people into Nothing More because of this album, and “DOWN THE RIVER” seems to be a common favorite. Some other things I’ve noticed is how a lot of this album has similar aspects to works from Papa Roach, Bring Me The Horizon, and STARSET. “GIVE IT TIME” (in my opinion) sounds like it could be a Citizen Soldier song as well.
And whats awesome is I've been listening to the album for months and the feature on stuck is still probably my favorite and I absolutely love the interlude tracks, especially listening to the whole thing in one go
My album of the year so far. I love the message. The lyrics really hit hard so many times throughout the album. The production and mix is amazing IMHO. This album is an absolute masterpiece. Thanks for a great reaction 👍🔥🔥🔥
When they drop the “Tear it down” line from House on Sand - it will be an epic moment for you. I heard it live in Bham and found myself jumping on the table never having heard it. I felt it coming. So good!
one criticism i have for it is volume on the other tracks thats not carnal-angel song. all of them sound quiet compared to the tracks that i stated. but who knows hearing has been off for me the past week due to allergies from wheat cutting.
I love the entire album. But I gotta say Freefall just reaches me the most so far. I like listening to the album several times in order and usually I’ll shift to another song but damn…Freefall is great.
Is it weird I want to hear Jonny on a pop song- that part in existential dread when he sings “existential” ooo that just makes me want to hear him on a full fledged pop song
Jonny was talking on octane that run for your life almost got scrapped from the album and he fought for it not to and they worked on it some more to get it finished quickly imo it feels rushed because of that. I feel like the last minute of the song should have been added onto sound and just make it a longer outro. I think carnal is a very good album overall but im with you on spirits being my favorite album of theirs and i think its their best as well.
I agree wholeheartedly with you on this album, I do prefer Spirits personally too, however I want to reserve judgement fully until I hear it a good few times more, as some songs on Spirits I wasn't too keen on 1st listen, such as "The other F word" but love now. I really like existential interestingly particularly the heavy parts, and the fact it is so different, really like Stuck and Run for your life too on 1st listen. Incidentally the interludes on "The Stories we tell ourselves" really spoil the flow of that album for me even more, although there are some real bangers on that one too. Credit to you for releasing your reaction on the same day as release of the album bro 🙌 👏
Amazing album!! Down the River is my favorite on the album, but man a lot of these songs are so good. The choruses are a bit much on this album. Theyre good, but the constant repeating of them, remind me of a pop album.
I found Spirits they were going more towards the heavy side of things bridging hard rock and metal and I found throughout the album it was great but it was too much heavy and lacked the more melodic side of the band and I found they did that with this album Carnal. Some great songs on this album off first couple listens I'd say my favourites out of the new songs would be Freefall, Exisential Dread & Give It Time all the singles are bangers! This will be up there with top albums of the year for me! \m/
100% agree with you on the chorus critique. I wish they were longer. Its makes the songs shorter. And gives it less impact overall. Still love alot of them though.
Sadly i was dissapointed by my first listen :/ Singles were good, but the rest beside Down the River(My taste is very focused on vocal performance, so this is short and sweet) and that other feature song sounds like solid B-Sides from Spirits. Of course its not bad, in fact they cant write a bad album. But only two years after Spirits...maybe their songs get much better, when they work on them more.
@@SFutureReactsBut i will give it some more spins of course ;) By the way, thank you for your Wage War reaction! Never heard of them but im gonna check out the new album for sure :)
So existential dread. Definitely one of my least favorite off the album but it's not bad and it's a very fresh sound for them. It also reminds me a lot of "antimatter" by silent planet
Freefall, existential dread, and run for your life were my favorites. Freefall and run for your life should have been switched on the album order. Freefall would of been a great closer. Ending minute of run for your life should of been moved to the "SOUND" instrumental, removed, or replaced with another breakdown.
How do you guys feel about CARNAL?
What’s your favorite song?
What’s your least favorite song?
Do you like it more than SPIRITS?

Dunno why. But freefall makes me emotional. Even before I know what the lyrics are saying. Just a great song.
That’s good music 🙏🏻🖤
That and Give it time threw me back to my old shinedown days.

Pre ordered this album on vinyl and it arrived early on Monday so I’ve been listening to this album all week haha

Charlie screaming "whoo" was me the day the album dropped. I've since transitioned into the Homelander reaction.

Lucky for us, nothing more has released their self titled album 10 years ago
Question: do any of you prefer Carnal or the self titled album?
Definitely Carnal.

Self Titled by far. It's a great album

Yeah, unfortunate but what can ya do 🤷🏻♂️
I loved how the songs on SPIRITS were so long
Pretty solid album!
THEY NEED TO DO AN ALBUM OR SONG WITH STARSET OMFG

Good album overall i think. Ngl the ending minute of the last song is straight up menu music from like Saints Row 4.

I do wish they would have given David more time to shine in Angel Song. He crushed his part, but it wasnt long enough for me.
I agree 100%
He ruined the song for me. Common cringe tough guy lyrics from him.
@@mutatednut ruined? You need to take your pills again brov.
David cant ruin any song
@mutatednut are we really talking about lyrics in metal songs?
Freefall - you said reminds you of something. It reminds me of switchfoot "meant to live"
To me it's:
Spirits > TSWTO > NM > TFNF = Carnal
This album all sorts of volume issues. Existential Dread and Run For Your Life are way quieter than the other songs. Especially the latter.
I noticed that as well!!!
So existential dread. Definitely one of my least favorite off the album but it's not bad and it's a very fresh sound for them. It also reminds me a lot of "antimatter" by silent planet
100%!!!
It's a good hard rock album, it really reminds me of the FEAR album by Papa Roach

whats song is it, everything is better when the world fade?
huh

The song you’re are talking about is either | CARNAL | or RUN FOR YOUR LIFE
