- Great band from Chicago, I think this was their very first EP (of many), and it seems to be the most well known member of Nymb's discography. Released in 1998 on Static Station, way out of print.

Love this! Still bust it out on occasion. They once played at my friends parents house in the garage with Forstella Ford and it was bad ass.
Forstella Ford, what a badass band. I've got Well Versed in Deception and the split with Life Detecting Coffins. Lots of great stuff from that turn of the century era gets overshadowed...Managra and Tintoretto for example. Hero of a Hundred Fights.

I love the drum sound. The snare is so sharp. People don't record drums like this at the moment. The whole thing sounds great.
How would you go about micing the snare to achieve something similar?
Snare needs to be well tuned, first. Mic close to the drumhead and point of impact. It's a balacing act, because obviously you don't want to hit the mic with your sticks. A second mic underneath to pick up the snare sound separately. Close placement allows you to minimize room noise. Afterwards, compression with a slightly lower attack lets the sharp transient thru

I sobered up after almost dying in Feb 98. I remain the same today. Everything I am today is because of that. So today, 20 October '24, I found this jewel. Another jewel that goes into my hat of life, which, by the way, is quite a sparkly obstacle that flourishes as you look into my green/blue eyes. How did I just now, today, find this? The algorhythms are sometimes controlled by the higher powers that be. I'm convinced of that with my jewely hat of life.
i relate to this, its my first day sober and while looking for something to distract myself from the anxiety, i found this, hopefully i will remeain sober too, wish me luck

yes. i discovered neon trees a while back and then i did some research on the bandmates (including elaine) and found this band!
I wish I was a little older to have experienced the turn of the millennia as an adult, I was only 6 when this came out. But I guess its sort of a treasure hunt now uncovering all these gems from that era. Seemed like a really magical time.
