34:04 Update 1: Vibes between 5000 and 6000 RPM: The 2nd service was completed on 20 December 2024 and unfortunately the vibes still remain 47:47 Update 2: Suzuki has called and asked us to replace the rear tyre as part of the recall. This has now been done. The life on the stock rear tyre is approximately 8,000 kms. 36:56 Update 3: The second service at 7,000 kms cost approximately Rs. 13,500 which included change of rear brake pads.
I made exactly the opposite move. I was sure I would buy the V-Strom 800 DE and just rode the Transalp to rule it out. Both bikes are fantastic but the TA just suited me a bit better :D Great that we have so many cool bikes today!
Same here man! Only a handful of riders in the country take their bike off road and for a majority of us the RE is a banger of s bike. Also, i simply can’t wrap my head around a tubed wheel in 2024! This is where the RE shines! Fingers crossed!
Awesome content, guys! Thanks, Vivek-this has reassured me that I’ve made the right choice. I just wish Suzuki could be more vocal and transparent like other vendors. They barely share any updates. It’s been almost four months since I booked, and I’m still waiting!
@@OpenAdventures both are out my budget, bmw gone expensive on maintenance, same goes for KTM considering it’s cbu ! I wanted to understand.. high octane patrol is a must for Vstrom ? Don’t think we will get it all places across India ?
You will get it in most major cities and towns. But there have been times when 95 octane isn't stocked by some petrol pumps in India (especially on the highway) due to less demand.
Absolutely agree on all the points owning the bike for 5 months , have gone for way2speed for a month now , air pressure is holding up good , have not had to refill yet !
Can you do a detailed review of the Triumph Speed 400, similar to this? You only have first ride video, but this bike is one of the most important in its segment, as it is accessible to a wide range of people in the price bracket
I have test ridden gsx-8r which I felt super hot from the engine which shares same engine with this. Please ask him how does the heat is compared with street triple rs? Please reply with answer
Respect for RE Himalayan 450 increased n times . Re launched tubeless wheels for 12k/- . Himalayan also have buzz problem 5k-6k rpm and re accessories are vfm . Just a electronic cruise control will make it perfect adventure bike and I'm sure it will be available by veridian cruise. Nice podcast btw😊
We need a video on Transalp from Tinu Alex coz he has done Highway touring and off roads with that. Would be a good video if we get the insights from him
Thanks Aaryan. We first approached Tinu to be in our 'Transalp' video but he nominated his very capable friend instead! You can watch it here th-cam.com/video/qL6LI-JhRJo/w-d-xo.html
Would like to see thoughts on older discontinued bikes in India such as the street 750 from Harley the z1000, z800 etc and how viable those bikes are to buy second hand
Vivek services his bike at Avanish Suzuki. And Abhishek there is a thorough gentleman. Not sure who Shiva is. Is he also with Avanish Suzuki (KH Road?)
Big wake up call for the people who ridicule RE for the Him 450 chassis breakage due to third party crash bars. You guys should make a post about these 2 bikes (nx500 and tiger) with pictures.
When i calculated the V-Strom 800DE actual weight Saree Guard - 2kg frame around engine - 2.35kg Plastic Bash Plate - 400gm front Adjustable suspension - 1kg rear suspension - 0.6kg hand guard - 0.5kg Quickshifter - 200-300gm Radiator Guard - 300gm Extra 3L fuel Tank - 2.25kg (kerb) So 220kg without all of this which is okey and if you load Transalp with its official accessory it will be comparable to Vstrom so no issue in this regards.
I am coming from a boneville t 100. If there is one machine i would call a freight train, it would be the t 100. 69 nm of torque at 3,700 rpm is absolutely mad! I am searching for a bike that displays similar characteristics and i sincerely hope , smi gets the 800 RE to india.

Really nice video. Calming content. You guys have comprehensively covered everything. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for watching and for the warm words of encouragement!
Great review.. Made my decision.. Gonna grab a V strom Soon..!! Thank you so much !
Thanks for watching and all the best!
Amazing content. Only one suggestion if u take these interviews along with bike it even better
Thanks for the suggestion. We've realised that wind noise compromises sound quality when shooting outdoors
No doubt that you have a good mic. My o my....was that an Eagle's screech at 8:32 ?
Didn't hear anything 😅
Great video! Was waiting for this.
Glad you liked it!

Do tell us more!
@OpenAdventures bought the TA afterwards and no regrets :-)
What made you realise that the TA suits you more. It will help others reading these comments!
I really wish they launch the 800 RE as well. Would have had a wider appeal given its 19/17 inch alloy wheels and lower seat height.
Fingers crossed

@@ashwinoashwin The RE is not coming to India anytime soon. That's what we've heard.

Yes we’ve heard from others that now they’re asking for another month. 🤷🏻
Also while you wait, why not test ride the ktm 890 adv r and the bmw f900gs?

Such a honest unbiased review .I was all along answering sriram's questions myself with Transalp in mind 😅
Try this one mate you ll forget the transalp within 10 mn......believe me

It heats up way more than the street triple. The street triple, while gets hot is very mild compared to this and perfectly managable

Can you pls review the new bmw f 900 GSA against Vstrom 800 de
As soon as we can get a hold of it. Maybe in January.
Any comment on Shiva the service head? He wasn't interested in hearing my issues at all. and wanted to lecture on 'how to ride'
Vivek services his bike at Avanish Suzuki. And Abhishek there is a thorough gentleman. Not sure who Shiva is. Is he also with Avanish Suzuki (KH Road?)
Just now KTm launched its big bikes..... Did u guys miss it ? Why not considered?
Vivek bought the Vstrom in June this year. The KTM 890 Adv R had not launched yet
Heating is there.... OBVIOUSLY....but how's the heat dissipation is the most crucial info on big bikes.....
Not that great ya. There's no contact heat, but clearly it's deflected to your legs.
I’m trying to book this bike from Bangalore as it is not available for Chennai.
Please pass contact to reach to for booking
You can call Manoj at Avanish Suzuki +91 96060 92067. Or you can call someone at the other dealership called Aryan motors
Vivek needed his glass to answer why not transalp 😁

@44:45
Thanks for the suggestion.
When i calculated the V-Strom 800DE actual weight
Saree Guard - 2kg
frame around engine - 2.35kg
Plastic Bash Plate - 400gm
front Adjustable suspension - 1kg
rear suspension - 0.6kg
hand guard - 0.5kg
Quickshifter - 200-300gm
Radiator Guard - 300gm
Extra 3L fuel Tank - 2.25kg (kerb)
So 220kg without all of this which is okey and if you load Transalp with its official accessory it will be comparable to Vstrom so no issue in this regards.
Interesting perspective and math 😅. All said and done, it feels a lot heavier. Besides no-one will be removing these and riding anyway

This is not likely to happen. We were focused on riding more than shooting footage

We've heard that aftermarket Veridian Cruise system works quite well. Haven't tried it though
@OpenAdventures yes it works but a dedicated option from company should be given
