I've listened to talk about a dozen times and I just saw what he meant by "Present Moment Awareness!" I see it so clear now. Why couldn't I see it before? Wasn't I listening. Present Moment Awareness is something you do before you actually start your meditation. I think the reason why I couldn't see it was because I didn't know what it meant until I started to do something similar. Sometimes, when my mind is just agitated, I'd tell myself to sit ... Just sit and look at all the things that's happening around me. At first, I felt silly, cause I'm just sitting there ... Looking at the ceiling, then the walls, the floor, then make faces at myself, listen to the quiet, listen to a dog's bark, listen to others talking ... . I had no idea that what I was actually doing was "Present Moment Awareness! ". Cool!
try taking a few moments just sitting in your car (before you start the motor) totally quiet, no thoughts about "have to go/get there" Brief as it is, that is being present. You will sense it clearly.
if thinking can't describe the world, how can the word peace have any effect. And the shopping bag technique HYPNOSIS, HYPNOSIS, HYPNOSIS what effect does that word have?
Love your talks Ajahn. I've been wondering what happens if breathing through the nose is obstructed by allergy leading to a stuffy nose? which brings the question, if I don't think of the past nor future, but the present is obstructed by irritations, what do I do to be at peace?
stop trying to be at peace, your trying is destroying the peace which is already there..you got my point..ask yourself why you want to be peaceful..when you are already.!
His talks are really informative, inspiring and enlightening!!!
