    ajahn brahm is a great teacher!
    i met him 2003 while i was traveling western australia. i discovered, just one day before the rains retreat started, the small sign "buddhist monastery" next to the road (traveling south) ... and just followed the road up the hill and then to the monastery. i arrived .... not one human being was there. i parked my car and walked around a bit ... i believe it was in the afternoon ... just short before i was ready to leave, a small asian lady appeared and invited me to the big party which should happen the next day, right before the rains retreat. i decided to come back the next day.... and so all started. i met some amazing people, and when i returned from my trip south, i returned to visit serpentine as well as the nuns monastery, where sister ajahn vayama was head nun at the time. she is a great teacher as well. ajahn brahm was perfectly right to chose her to set up the nuns monastery in western australia. i was very sad when i heard that she had become sick.
    love to all the monks and nuns of both monasteries. some of them maybe remember me.
    at the time i lived in Germany, today i live in the USA.
    i always considered Australia my soul-country! ;) Kristina

    Thank you Ajahn Brahm. Lots of Great advice in this talk, especially the part at 28:00 saying How you are meditating is just as important as the meditation object itself. 28:35 Making Peace with the dullness, being Kind to the restlessness, being Gentle to the body.

    To Amanda: Time stamp 22:00 when Ajahn Brahm talks about sleepiness in meditation and how our modern lives are so filled with activity that we sometimes just need to take time to rest before we start meditation

    Its simple just let your mind and do w.e it wants meditation is not your time it's ur minds time. Eventually it settles down.

      That is very true, my friend. I was struggling with meditation & had all these twitchings & was very iritatted until I let my mind free & take it's course, than it took me about 5-10 mins to enter a deep meditation.

      Ajahn brahm has a funny story where he had been doing extensive meditation.
      One day, when he needed to drop a log in the toilet, after he had dropped said log, he ended up staring at it with profound amazement. In the story he describes his creation in great detail, much to the distress of the audience!

      For some people, doing #2 without their phone is the only time they meditate.

  • @akakonoha
    @akakonoha 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Oh yes, this is my problem with meditators, I met many & it freaks me out. I really don't wish to read other people's minds nor do I want anyone reading my thoughts! What can I do? I'm really against that... 😸

    • @PeckiePeck
      @PeckiePeck 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This only happens with very deep cultivation, according to the ancient Buddhist texts. So, if it happens, you'd be ready to deal with it!

    • @akakonoha
      @akakonoha 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PeckiePeck thank you but it has not been my experience. Many people who are not really deeply cultivated, are able to do this. I wish to close down my psychic mind, & not interfere with any of that!
