I had been recently thinking about this and fortunately there is a video from a trusted source for it. Thank you.

When I think structure and the 5Cs, I find myself a little limited by my own understanding and biases of what the structure is. Seeing how these tools can be used in ways I would not have imagined is really interesting, and helps me think out of the box.

This is great to hear! And I hope you'll feel the same about the entire masterwork analysis guide :)

@@savannah-gilbo By the way, when analyzing a master work, do you ever find yourself stuck, unable to find the 5Cs, or any other structure and think to yourself "Could I be in a scene where the structure just isn't there ?". Or do you sometimes find that you have to look so hard for the structure that when you end up finding your own interpretation, it feels like you've pushed things a bit too far, to a point where you almost needed to bend the content to find the structure? I've just finished analyzing the whole series Arcane, scene by scene with the 5Cs. It has taught me a lot, but I've definitely faced some head scratchers when it comes to finding the structure, and I'm not even convinced by my own interpretation sometimes.

@@TheConfusedPangolin That is a REALLY good question! I can definitely relate to what you're saying about second-guessing your own analysis or perception of things (and it definitely happened to Abigail and me as we did the HP analysis, too, so you're not alone).
At times, it seemed like we had to bend content to find structure, but this was mostly in the early stages of analysis. I don't feel that's true about the version of the analysis we published in the book. Here are a few things we learned while doing the analysis that got us out of the "bending content to find structure" hole...
Sometimes, what we thought was "a scene" on first read wasn't actually a scene. For example, when you hear us talk about Diagon Alley in an upcoming video, we had that analyzed as a few different "scenes" but then realized the value shift across all those "scenes" was really similar. Because we realized that, we were able to zoom out a bit and say... Are these actually "scenes" or are they smaller moments that act as progressive complications within a larger scene? And usually, that was the answer-they were progressive complications within a scene.
The other thing we learned is that... If we had trouble analyzing a certain section of the story, we would skip it and come back to it after getting all the way to the end. This helped us go back and review that problem section with fresh eyes and a better sense of the big picture. It was also super helpful to have Abigail's perspective to get me out of my own head, too.
All of that being said, no book is perfect! So, it's not out of the question to find scenes that don't perfectly adhere to structure or whatever we think a scene "should" do 😊 Pretty cool that you analyzed the Arcane series! I'm sure you learned so much in the process!

This is an amazing work. Thank you for sharing.
Please do something about your mics. Something was going on with one of them and its sound quality makes this very painful to listen to for an hour and a half.

We tried to fix it afterwards (and surprisingly it DID get better) but yeah, it’s not great-sorry! 😭

@@savannah-gilbo Oh well... better luck next time I guess. Nonetheless, this is an amazing project and effort. Congratulations on getting it out there.

@@savannah-gilbo I noticed that listening with the subtitles on helps in those difficult mic moments. So if anyone else is having trouble, just go down to the bottom right of the screen and click on "subtitles/closed captioning". Cheers!

Harry's want is to know his parents. That is his main motivation to go to the school. Every step he takes in the wizarding world is a step in his parents footsteps. We are even told this by him seeing his parents in the mirror of Erised.

This is such a basic level analysis that is what you would hear in any college writing 101 course. This analysis requires a look at the deep-seated aspects of the human collective consciousness and why it speaks to people at such a fundamental level.
